The horrors of a war torn nation pales in comparison to the horrors enacted by Elizabeth Bathory! Legends of vampires have been passed down for centuries, but few people have survived long enough to shed light upon the true horrors that have taken place within Elizabeth Bathory's estate.....until now! Lord Istvan hasn't heard from his daughter Agnes since she was invited to sing for the Countess, in fact, none of the young women who entered her house have been seen or heard from since! The King has refused to investigate the disappearances, leaving Lord Istvan no choice but to seek the help of the "finders" also known as the traveling Gypsy's!
You are a traveling Gypsy and your wagon contains everything you need to "find" Agnes, and help those in need along the way. Inside the wagon is your herb garden which will need replenished with seeds that you will find during your investigation. Once the herbs are harvested, they will be stored in the herbarium, awaiting use in different potion recipes you come across. This wagon can be accessed anytime, just click on the wagon icon to the right of the inventory bar. There are Morphing Tarot Cards, one in each scene, which are blended into the scenery very well, with just the right amount of morphing pace. Naturally, you have psychic abilities that can be used on certain objects to "see" an event that has taken place recently. Once you use your psychic powers, a jumbled up picture will be revealed and you must slide sections of the puzzle left and right until the picture is complete allowing your vision to come to life. Some of the inventory items require repairs or another inventory item to be combined with before using that item as indicated by a plus sign.
There are three different types of Hidden Object Scenes, searching for objects by names listed, searching for objects that match their silhouetted shapes, and searching for objects that are associated to the words given. Most of the scenes require you to toggle between the object list and the inventory list, you may have to use matches from your inventory to light a lantern to get a lit lantern! The mini games are easy, besides the puzzles in your psychic readings, there are recipe mini games where you simply follow the instructions to make the potion, and well known games of guiding the gold button to the red buttons location making sure you pass each button shown.
This Collectors Edition has VAMPIRES, Wallpapers, Screensavers, Music, Achievements, Morphing Tarot Cards, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus chapter. Happy Vampire hunting, enjoy! Show less

I generally shun vampire games for the simple reason that the vamps in PC games are usually not allowed to do that which is their wont, drinking blood. Is it some sort of PC game censorship that prevents our seeing what is natural and necessary for vampires? Therefore I was initially intrigued by the opening cut scene which illustrated a victim whose neck was bitten and a bit of a blood trail shown. This in and of itself compelled me to go further. The setting is Hungary and Elizabeth Bathory is evidently a powerful vampiress who has abducted several young ladies. The detective's objective is to stop Bathory and rescue the damsels in distress. We begin outside in a courtyard in which certain items must be gathered via hidden object segments and sometimes merely by picking up items that will be of use. I liked that the HO segments were not the standard list variety. Silhouettes are used and some of these HOs involved finding thematic items involving time, music, etc. It's a nice twist out of the ordinary. We meet some folks along the way, a monk and an innkeeper during the demo, and we are tasked with procuring items beneficial to these people. As in some other games, our detective who is a gypsy by the way has her wagon in which she can create potions by finding seed packets and then watering them to use with recipes . She also is clairvoyant and can with the assist of pictures that must be realigned by the player " read " something of significance. There is much travelling from location to location, a jump map is included but I found the map to be a bit of a distraction. The puzzles are fairly easy during the demo. There are collectible tarot cards which when found are described in detail. How these cards affect the game is yet to be determined. I also liked that the detective when speaking does so with an Eastern European accent which lends some authenticity to her surroundings. If only the other characters did likewise...............
The demo ends when the detective finds Elizabeth and the kidnapped women and an old hag tells us in essence there is the devil to pay. The animation is a bit stunted and the graphics are a tad grainy yet overall the game has eye appeal. I hope the remainder of the game is as bloodcurdling as BFG's promo indicates. An occasional gory game fits the bill. The developer who to my recollection is a new one has fashioned a very good game. Try it out. As with me you may find it to be something worth sinking teeth into.

Not sure about the negative reviews on this one. I spent a very enjoyable rainy day with it, and loved every minute. I'm a history buff, and have read much on Elizabeth Bathory. This game went off the rails with it, but that's what made it so fun. I purchased the Nutcracker with this one, and this one is FAR superior!

The map is interactive with available actions noted. There are 4 modes of play including Custom. There are +/- 60 Tarot cards to collect. The HOs are varied. Puzzles are workable. You use inventory items in some of the combo. HOs. You find herbs to grow and later use in potions. People's lips move when talking. Not a whole lot of talking like the 1st game (Thank God). Although the gypsy voice is unnecessary and annoying. To fill the audio void - you (developers) might try inserting some music?
I recommend you try this game but I'll probably wait for the SE.

Game length was long and I was almost put off at the beginning because it's somewhat different. Hang in there as gamers will experience a really good fright game. I thought it was absolutely foreboding as well as frightening. Possibly playing at night with the lights out didn't help any, however, work is a must during the day time so night it is for most of my gaming time where one gets the full effect of this well-planned and well-thought out game.
Don't allow anyone to discourage you from playing this really good game--especially yourself. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Girls seem to be going into the Countess's palace and never being seen again. Loved the collectible taro cards that told your immediate future. Very cool. This game had some length to it too which is so important if you are to become immersed in it. There's nothing worse than just starting to really get into a game and it's over. The graphics here are beautifully detailed and full of color. very nice. You also have psychic abilities that take you to puzzle visions. My favorite were the HO scenes that were a real mix. I loved the one that was a storybook and also the find five things to do with witchcraft, weather etc. I loved making the potions and this game often made you think. The collectibles carried over to the bonus chapter which ended the game nicely. Really really well done. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Show less

This is the second game in the series. Graphics wise, it improves on the first game.
I like the idea of playing a gypsy. If you liked the first game, you will like this one too.
The game seemed a bit glitchy with long load screens, and sometimes the hint button led you to the wrong place. The extras were not as good as the first game.
