There are 12 Fears to "collect" throughout the game and plenty of Achievements to earn. Some of the inventory items have plus signs indicating further action is needed before that item can be used such as combining that item with another inventory item.
I hope you like a lot of of puzzles and games because this game has a ton of them! The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly progressive, interactive list finds where you find the first item on the list and use it somewhere in the scene to obtain the next item and so forth. There are also silhouetted shapes, and you have the option to play a Match 3 game instead. The Mini Games are around every corner, clever puzzles requiring you swap panels to allow a path for a ball to drop, or turn disks to match up color coded paths. My favorite game required you to swap disks so that the multi colored ring around the disks match all disks around them, left, right, top and bottom.
This Collector's Edition has Wallpapers, Concept Art, Developer's Diary, Achievements, Music, Mini Games, Collections, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less
I recommend this game!

Looking at the reviews from people who only played the demo and found it not to their liking I felt compelled to congratulate the developer for producing a game for a gamer like myself... it seemed custom made for me.
For people looking to be scared.. this game isn't for you. It's about conquering 12 phobias... rescuing your daughter who seems to be following another girl through the maze of phobias. (you buy the last ticket.."sold out")
I LOVED all the HOs.. either everything in the HO was progressively interactive or you had to find x number of things. (so if you are looking for standard HOs this game isn't for you) Haven't seen this type from the developer since Somber Song !!
I only did the match 3 option toward the end of the game and I had forgotten this developer did a good match 3
I am a gamer who isn't interested in finding morphing objects or collectibles or achievements.. can only comment on the amount of fun I had while playing... so look to other reviews for that.
I found this game to be non-linear as there was much, much to do and back and going back and forth in that part of the phobia being conquered. Your phone is "ringing", answer it to collect those maze pieces! So if you like a simple "quick fix" scene without much to do this game probably isn't for you.
I am not a fan of puzzles.. this game has a lot of puzzles but they were doable and if there were puzzles I hated (one thing toggles another) I had the custom feature set to quick skip.
I found a lot of instances where there wasn't a "clue" as what to do but I enjoyed sticking with it and figuring it out myself by trial and error when (ex: "what am I going to do with this?")
I never consulted the map... I never found the need but I did take a look at the diary (I still love having a diary - thanks developers) to see what was there and found the task list, and map, etc.
As for the length of the main game it was lengthy..estimating at least 4 hours...maybe more for me. (wish length of games was listed on the screen where you exit... we would know how long we had been playing)
Now for the bonus... eh !! short and not so exciting... I would have been more disappointed if I had paid full price.
The only thing I felt was missing for ME was the chance to play Match 3 in the extras
So well done, developers... while I haven't enjoyed your latest games THIS game is a standout for a SE... (bonus game needed a lot of work) Show less
I recommend this game!

What do you fear? You better not show it around this game. Some madman is watching your every move and sending you messages as you maneuver into a carnival's Maze of Fears. This is a masterly crafted puzzle-intense game. The story is excellent weaving you through a maze of puzzles and illusions. The graphics are cartoonish - expected in a carnival setting. The HOP scenes are sequential and puzzle-like; the puzzles are numerous and varied ranging from easy to difficult. There is a Match 3 game in lieu of the HOP scenes. Saving both you and your daughter in this game is an amulet, when charged, alleviates the build-up of fear! Everything in this game including the HOP scenes and puzzles are maze-like. Get ready for a small fright fest with some twists and turns in the storyline! A PUZZLE-LOVER'S DELIGHT! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME WHICH MERITS MORE THAN 5 STARS! THIS WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC PURCHASE FOR ME!
Just remember as you traverse this game - "The only thing you need to fear is fear itself."
EXTRA GOODIES:
Map - Get the map as you play the game
Strategy guide
Phone providing you messages about "Fear" from a creepy madman
Collect Fears to place on a Fear Board
Amulet to dispel fears - recharged by collecting fear amulets
18 Achievements
Extras such as Bonus game, Wallpaper, Concept Art, Mini games, Music and Collections
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFO ON THE GAME
You play "Dad to the rescue" of your rebellious teen daughter, Amber. She has entered the Maze of Fears without your consent having a "free ticket." Some mad man is playing on her fears - driving her into a maze of sheer terror from which she may not return. This game is filled with a roller coaster ride of mazes and more mazes. You and your daughter will relive a series of other people's fears in a sequence of stories. Behind all of this is a story is about a man who wanted to help people, creating a device to fight fears. He created a device to dispel fears, but needed an assistant. Why? Who was his assistant and what happened to both he and his assistant? You keep getting messages from some creepy stalker concerning "fear" itself. It seems you will travel to different laboratories to experience different phobias and the incidences which create them. Be warned - this game may be dangerous to your psyche.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hard, Custom Penalties for overclicking
Hints and Skips - 1 to 100 seconds or you can turn it off
INVENTORY: Interactive and puzzle-like with mini puzzles throughout
GRAPHICS : Cartoon-like befitting a carnival theme. Muted colors
HOP SCENES: Puzzle like and all the same (at least in the demo). Interactive and sequential. Locate one item to use in the scene to get another item which you will use to locate the next item to interact in the scene until you have finished the list and get an inventory item.
PUZZLES: Yeah! A puzzle lovers delight! There are so many puzzles - just in the demo - I would need a page to list all of them! It is puzzle intense which is to be expected in a psychological thriller. You have a choice of a Match 3 game instead of the HOP scenes. They are both very nicely executed. I couldn't decide which to play. Loved both! The puzzles range from easy to difficult. Most of the puzzles are designed on the concept of mazes.
Types of puzzles from just the demo: a variation of maze puzzles, sliding tile puzzles; rotating ring puzzles; storybook silhouette puzzles; moving tile puzzles; a unique map puzzle; a switch puzzle.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: Variation of a chessboard puzzle - playing against the computer to collect the most squares on a chessboard.
Good work devs! You have correctly used "electrical tape" and not duct tape to fix your electrical cords. You have made some adhesive company very happy with your choice! LOL Show less
I recommend this game!

Honestly, dad should of put his foot down on the one. This game is off the chain! I love everything about this game. The VO's are awesome, I love the main character, he is a downright trip and the story is original. It is a kind of save your daughter type story but the only difference is you're not traipsing halfway around the countryside to retrieve her. She is with you, but you still are getting her out of fixes. But to me this is still an original story and I am totally loving every minute of this game. You do have collectibles thirteen in all. They are all different, but they all pertain to fears. Please look at the strat guide to see where they are. With this team I love how they put collectibles in, but they don't go overboard to feel like that is all your doing is hunting for them. Also there is a Match 3 game if you don't feel like playing the H0G. There are 4 modes of play: Casual, Advanced, Hard, and Custom.
Story: Dear ol' lovable dad takes his daughter Amber to the fair and she wants to go into "The Maze of Fears". Dad tells her she shouldn't because she will have nightmares afterwards. And boy did he hit the nail on the head cause I think dad will too. Amber tells her father that she got a free ticket and she goes in anyways despite his objections. The door slams shut behind her and there goes dad (after he buys a ticket) in behind her. The door slams shut behind him too and they are both trapped in "The Maze of Fears". Amber goes on up ahead without waiting on dad, (bad idea), and when they get the final door opened, she falls in the water and dad has to save her. In the meantime you're switching to what happened to Marissa Castey and the evil psychologist. And so the story continues.
Graphics: Totally awesome. Even in the H0GS they are clear. There is 3D in the graphics as well. This team couldn't of done any better on them.
Music: Nicely done. Fits the game beautifully. Really adds to the spookiness of the game. Doesn't get overly intense when there isn't no need to.
Mini Games: Really fun and original. Made strictly for this game. Still makes you think, but they don't get frustrating at all. And if you make a mistake or want to start over, there is a reset button.
H0GS: I only played two types so far, (even in the beta version), and that is find one object so you can get another object and so on till you get the main object, and the other is find the words on the list, but when you find an object you pick up a piece of the main object. So far I only came across eight words on the list. There are also mini games in the H0G scenes which make it more fun.
Map: Exclamation point-Current task, Green checkmark-Player, Blank white circle-complete, and Red lock-blocked. Yes it is a jump map.
Hint system: I don't use it in H0GS as I like to go for the achievements, but outside of them it works wonders. Well done.
Again, this is one awesome game. My second favorite to Ominous Objects Phantom Reflection. Reason I say second is because Mr. Jenkins (besides my own cat) took my heart. Kudos to the team. I highly recommend this game. Show less

A teen girl, Amber, is determined to enter the Maze of Fears while at a carnival despite her dad telling her to wait for him. Amber goes in anyway since kids never listen to a parent and is abducted by a sinister psychologist. The father ( thanks dev for a male protagonist ) learns quickly he must overcome his own fears and that of his daughter to save her. Dad acquires an amulet designed to allay their fears, one is of water and drowning, another is fire.
There are only 2 hidden object segments in the rather short demo. Each contains 6 items and the first found is used interactively to get the second and so on until the last is added to inventory. Early in the game, a telescope is used in a visual maze and the fears found are I guess a harbinger to what follows as the game progresses. The puzzles routine to the genre, some easy and others requiring a bit of savvy. Lots of inventory items are incomplete and need parts to finish construction. A 3 piece gear and a remote control boat are examples.
I find the story to be the most interesting aspect of 12 Fears and despite the short demo I gather the game length is sufficient given a dozen fears to overcome. I very much enjoy the game yet I am on the fence as to buying the CE or waiting for the SE version. I have a feeling this will be a love it or hate it game. Consider me enamored.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the map but I didn't need to refer to it very often so it wasn't too big of a problem. I get lost finding my way around in many games, but this one was easy to follow. I didn't have to backtrack very far to use items. Show less

The Sable Maze series is a great one, and this game doesn't disappoint. Your daughter Amber gets a free ticket to enter the Maze of Fears. You, the dad, must earn your ticket to get in. What you don't know is, a psychologist has been studying Amber, and knows about her 12 fears, and plans on subjecting her to each one -- to cure her, maybe?
You get an amulet you can use to remove the black fear smoke - which of course must be recharged after every use. Your goal is to save Amber from the maze, which means saving her from her 12 fears -- fear of water, fear of fire, whatever. You also periodically get messages, which contain maze symbols that fit in some cubby hole in the game, which opens to give you some item you need.
The HOS games are very interactive - find an item and use it to get the next item in the list. The hard part is figuring out where to start! You can play a Match-3 instead. There are plenty of mini-games as well. I think I only received one achievement while playing, and one collector item which was a piece of the maze.
The CE bling includes a Developer Diary, which they cleverly shot at a carnival, in keeping with the game's theme. They all end up in the mirror maze at the end!
This is one more clever game from this developer. Although the demo was short - less than an hour - I only conquered one fear, so there are still 11 left to go! Enjoy. Show less
