Looks like there's been a coup d'etat at the palace, be careful who you trust Princess! The Queen has one more story to tell us, this is the story about Grandmother Eleanor, and how she saved her father the King. Eleanor is a very resourceful and capable Princess who soon learns that her father has many enemies, one of which has imprisoned her father in a portal leading to a strange and dangerous world. The Princess won't have to fight this battle alone, a Druid will guide her through the spirits, but can he be trusted?
No Princess is complete without a sidekick, which happens to be a majestic Phoenix, who can break mystical barriers with the drop of a single fiery feather! Eventually she will find the recipe for a shrinking potion, but there is only enough potion for 8 uses, and you will be asked to confirm your choice when using this magical spritzer. (what happens if I use it on myself?) Some of the inventory items have a magnifying glass above them indicating the need for further action before using them such as combining that item with another inventory item or repairing the item first.
I loved the hidden Chess pieces feature in the Collector's Edition, which were located throughout this royal adventure, each piece gives you a tidbit of royally interesting factoids about it's origin, which I absolutely loved. When all of the Chess pieces have been found, it unlocks a game of Match 3. The CE also has 12 hidden Fortune Telling Cards that will allow you to play a card game when all have been found, to get a prediction, also very cool. Once you finish the Bonus game, you will unlock jigsaw puzzles of the scenes within the map as well.
The Hidden Object Scenes were just okay in my book. Most are interactive list finds, but there are also HO's where you open up packages that reveal silhouetted shapes requiring you to place items that match the shapes into the box. The Hidden Object Scenes are repeated which is a big disappointment to me, it's plain ole boring a second time around. The Mini Games were pretty decent, most are available in a Casual or Hard mode such as selecting two flower petals at a time, to match the symbol in the center, if you select wrong, the petals move to a different location.
The Collectors Edition has Collectible Chess Pieces, Hidden Fortune Telling Cards, Achievements, Wallpapers, Concept Art, Screensavers, Movies, Music, replayable Mini Games and Hidden Object Scenes, Match 3 Games, Map Jigsaw Puzzles, Fortune Card Game, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! The graphics were very good and clear and interesting. The sound was appropriate to the game and never was annoying-I was able to keep it on.

Some of the puzzles and HO scenes were a little different and fun. I liked the bad guys and the pest or whatever he was, I think a rat that kept appearing. get a Phoenix helper and make a shrinking potion which you can use a limited number of times so every time you come across a difficult character you have to decide if you REALLY need to use it. Lots of fun. I would rate it very high on just the fun factor.
The level of challenge was not terribly high but I guess I could have raised the play level. It is a good rather leisurely game that I look forward to finishing.
Can't think of anything I did not like although the challenge level could definitely been higher.

The map was pretty useless as far as letting you know where activities needed to be done. You could jump with it, but didn't know where to jump. So you did have to rely on the hint for guidance. For this reason, I dropped one star.
I still definitely recommend this game. I did really enjoy playing it. Give it a try. Show less

this is a great game! excellent art work, easy to follow story, connect the dots sleuthing, make for fun game. puzzles mostly reasonable with a few more challenging ones. HOPs are varied, but no morphing objects.

Queen's Tales: Sins of the Past

I have to admit, the storyline was lost on me. Nothing in the demo really adhered to the title of the game. Also, in the intro, your character is being told your Grandmother's Story .... so then why is everything seemingly being done by you???
Also, at the beginning of the game, a disembodied voice tells you that a thief stole your father's most valuable item .... without saying WHAT that item is. It continues to say that your Elf Doll was your BF but was arrested. No more on this tidbit of info .... as we proceed to 13 years later and the beginning of the game play.
The graphics were very well done, although there was a lot of gold/orange in some of the HOGs. The music was SUPER creepy, especially on the game title page. I mean ..... total EXCELLENCE! I almost purchased the game then and there! The sound fx were also very well done as were the voice overs.
There are 4 difficulty modes: Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. All the modes can seemingly be changed, but when you DO change something you are automatically in the "custom" setting.
You have the option to set the tutorial: Full Tutorial, Features Only and No Tutorial. That's a nice feature, especially for the more experienced of players.
There is a task list, a transportable map (I didn't use it as I only traveled between 2 destinations each time I moved through the game play), and a helper in the form of a phoenix who dissipates the dark force whenever it is nearby. The phoenix is by no means annoying as it sits in it's little corner of the game page .... not making any sounds ..... just waiting to do its little thing. There is no journal/diary.
HOGS (hidden object games) were interactive lists and silhouettes. Mini games, while being fresh, new and innovative, ran the gamut of easy to mind numbing. I usually don't skip a mini game but there was one that had me completely flummoxed.
While I felt the "pull" to purchase the game when I heard the creepy music, I'm glad I didn't. The demo was .... confusing. Are we hearing our Grandmother's story or do WE somehow become the story??? Is your Grandmother's story linked to the thief stealing your father's most valuable item? What IS the most valuable item? Are we looking for it or rescuing your father? Or ... is it your Grandmother's father?
As you can tell, IMO, this game is truly confusing as to WHAT is actually going on. It lacks substance and rather than giving enough info during the demo to make me WANT to purchase the game, it only confuses me. For these reasons, and many more, this will not be a purchase for me.
It is a standalone game ... not a continuation of the previous Queen's Tales so I would recommend purchasing the SE.
For those who had a better experience playing the demo ...........
ENJOY!
Overall Impression: Ok for a freebie coupon for the SE. A definite "pass" for me. Show less
I recommend this game!
