I really really enjoyed playing this game. The graphics and voice overs were perfect. Mini games and hidden object scenes were fun. My favorite part though is that there was actually, a wonderful storyline. Love, loss and the 5 stages of grief! I purchased the CE which I normally never do but I didn't want to wait a month to play this game. I'm so glad I got the CE as it ties everything up ...Show more

I really really enjoyed playing this game. The graphics and voice overs were perfect. Mini games and hidden object scenes were fun. If you try to judge this game by playing the demo only you will be sadly disappointed as the game changes dramatically once the demo is over. It's far different than you think it's going to be,for the better!
This is why I personally don't particular like to read reviews by people who haven't played most or all of the game. I know what the demo looks like, we are all allowed to play it ourselves.It's what happens after the demo that I'm always interested in which is why I usually save my review until I'm completely finished with the game. I did play the entire game plus the bonus and the game and story were wonderful. Better than a whole lot of other games coming out recently!

I have to say for me so far this is my favorite game of 2016! Show less

Heart of the Storm (HOTS) really delivers for me. It has all the elements that make a game fun, exciting, and compelling. HOTS has stunning graphics, excellent audio, interactive (and fun!) hidden object scenes, plus puzzles that aren't the same, lame game. Fuse all of those elements with a super compelling story and it's a sure winner in my book.

There is so much interactive fun, so many twists and turns, so many "Wow!" moments, that when the demo ended, I groaned "Nooooo" aloud. I didn't want to stop!

The sad part is, I almost didn't download it based on the sole review (a 2 star). But having enjoyed the Rites of Passage series before, and Mad Head developers in particular, I decided to chance it. I am thrilled that I did. It just goes to show that although reviews are meant to be an informative tool for game purchases, you definitely should try before you buy. One reviewer's trash might be another reviewer's treasure... and may become a new favorite! Show less

This is one of the best games I have played in a while. It starts immediately during the video before the actual game which was a big surprise and great experience. I usually just sit back and let the video finish, not this time! The graphics and playability were top drawer and I highly recommend everyone to take a look. You won't want to stop.

Review based on SE...I just didn't feel CE was enough bang for my buck...and I'm usually a CE girl. I have no regrets purchasing the SE, though...definitely a fun game, and the graphics were great!! Nothing too challenging...in fact, fairly easy puzzles, etc. If you're looking for a good, relaxing game, try the demo...hope you like it as much as I!

I mostly just play to be entertained and am not super picky on the details of how that play goes. One thing that does affect me, however, is the tone of the game and the way the story unfolds. I do not care for demonic elements in games and similarly am disturbed when there are aspects of the game that compromise moral standards. There are some games that leave a longer impression on me than others. Heart of the Storm is one of those games. When I downloaded it, because it was offered free for the covid shutdown, I was not sure I would like it. I read the reviews and based on some of the things written, such as good story line, good ending, I took a chance on it. I was not let down and I have kept thinking about the game after I am finished playing because I found it had a lot more depth than a lot of games have. I would say the theme of the game is really 'the power of human emotions' and the 'heart of the storm' is an apt title in that while it seems to depict a raging thunderstorm it really refers to the storm of emotions that can be inside of someone. I am amazed at how well done this game was, with regards to the intent and purpose in which it was created. To add to that, I did find the game play enjoyable, although most of the puzzles were too hard for me or I got tired and bored by not having the patience to see them out (I am not a puzzle person, more a hidden object one, although there are some puzzles I like doing). The game was quite long but I am someone who takes their time and look at things and am not in a rush to beat anything. Because the game impressed me I wanted to recommend it to others to at least look at. But I do agree with other reviewers...it really isn't until closer to the end of the game that the real value emerges. Show less

Professor Mann has asked you to deliver a very important artifact and help him capture the Storm of the Century. This storm is deadly, and if this environmental phenomena isn't contained, the entire world will be at stake. Unfortunately, the first Storm Catcher model isn't strong enough to hold this storm with a mind of it's own, but the professor's assistant Rob is working on a newer and stronger model, and not a moment too soon. You quickly discover that there's a connection between this storm and an Ancient Temple nearby, is this storm the result of a twisted love triangle?

The graphics are confusing to me, some buildings are very detailed, others blurry, the characters are spot on but everything else is large and cartoonish, some items don't make sense such as the two boulders (shown in two different scenes) with faces. The storyline is interesting enough, but judging by the demo, there's nothing new here, another malevolent spirit bent on revenge. The only prop you get is a smartphone, which in my opinion makes a game more realistic, which will be used as a journal to store clues found, a camera to take important pictures, a flashlight, and of course you will be able to make and receive phone calls. Many of the inventory items are complex which require some type of interaction before they can be used, in the Collector's Edition there are 14 Achievements to earn and every scene has a Collectible Hunt symbol to search for, complete with an Icon to keep track of which scenes still have a Collectible to find.

The Hidden Object Scenes also seem cartoonish, with large bulky items to search for within Interactive List Finds, finding Multiples of several silhouetted shape items, or finding items that match their identical pictures as shown on the inventory bar which releases the final item by carving a tree with each item found. In the CE, each Hidden Object Puzzle has a Morphing Object, and there is an Icon for this feature as well.

The Mini Games are far and few between, and are very easy puzzles to solve, but that's okay in my opinion as long as they are somewhat entertaining. The following are brief descriptions of the games you will encounter during the demo:

1) Type in the correct password to access the computer, then arrange folders by swapping them to their correct places turning all folders green.
2) Lead the power from the source to the target by rotating tiles to connect the wires.
3) Clear all chalk blots from the board by dragging an uninterrupted line of two or more blots of the same color using cardinal directions.

The Collector's Edition has 44 Collectible Hunt symbols, 14 Achievements, 17 replayable Hidden Object Puzzles, 17 Morphing Objects within the HOP's, 16 Concept Art pictures, 20 Wallpapers, 9 Music Soundtracks, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

- Difficulty can be customized: You can chose map issues, glitter, plus item indicator, penalty, hint and skip recharge time and character dialog (whatever that is, I did not try it). Unfortunately, you can’t exclude helping texts. Three levels of difficulty are preset.

- Graphics: The graphics are detailed and prospectively drawn with interesting and realistic as well as fantastic sceneries.

- Animation: is pretty amazing - excellent

- Music: at the beginning a little bit thriller like, later on smoother. Fitting background noises.

- Voice-overs: good spoken, matching the characters, perfectly synchronized

- Tools: you have an interactive map – not really necessary, because you have to investigate round about 5 locations. You don’t have to go back. And you do have your handy mobile, with flash light, photo,..

- HO’s: there are different types of HO included. Really good done, sometimes interactive.

- Mini games: There is a broad range of different mini games, well-crafted.

- Relation to reality: That was surprisingly good. Not only the places, where needed items are to be find, are reasonable realistic, also some of your tasks. E.g. you are extinguishing the burning barn with a fire hose (with pressure, valve and so on), you’re taking gas out of a compressor with a pump and other. That was something I liked.

Dislikes:
- Length: I needed nearly 3 hours for completing. Much too short, especially because I could have played it forever.

Usually I award stars according to the length of a game, IF it meets all of my requirements:
3 for 3 hours, 4 = 4 hours 5 = 5 hours ++. But in this case, I gave an additional star due to quality and story.
I recommend this game. It is challenging, has an interesting story I liked and high quality. Show less

I liked this game - although I have only played the CE and SE demos I had fun both times and may buy the SE when I am looking for something to do.

I am particularly susceptible to stormy weather and find few things more invigorating in real life. (scary dangerous too). I thought the developers did a great job of demonstrating with both audio and visual, a really exciting storm.

I recommend this game!
