fromDing Dong bell, Florry’s in a well. Who threw her in? That’s her husband’s sin. Who will drive her out? There remains no doubt. You will “drive” her out. (Just don’t let Oscar, the drunken ghost, help you “drive!”).

4 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER - REVIEW BASED ON THE DEMO PLUS PART OF CHAPTER 3
OVERVIEW: Pack up your ghostbusting gear along with earplugs and protective gear and head to England to investigate a “ghost gone wild” in this “phantasmic” 5-star game. I LOVE this whimsical delight! For once, I think Vendel may have a super hit on their hands with this game. This is an “easy breezy” game which is just fun to play. This game contains some witty moments with low-key “humour.” The game script is well-written. The graphics are cartoon-like show a vast improvement for Vendel. The addition of the ghostly drunken sot as a helper provides a wee bit of “humour” to this game. The HOP scenes and puzzles are creatively done and fit the theme of this story. You collect signs. There are no achievements. It is seldom we get a truly entertaining, comical game. However, it is a SHORT game!
STORY: You play Brenda Gale, a psychic detective called in by your former boss, a police detective who has just purchased a haunted pub. However, there will be no peace this side of heaven until you deal with the likes of Florry, the tempestuous ghost! It seems to me that this little pub “be needing” an exorcism by the likes of a Father O’Malley instead of a psychic investigator. This local ghost, Flossy is on a rampage, looking for revenge against a “mighty fine little red-headed lass!” But why?
Accompanying you into the world of “spirits,” is a ghostly sot, Oscar Quincy, who will more than willing to help you for the price of another drink! Actually, I thought the “helper,” another ghost, looked surprisingly like Edgar Alan Poe, another man who also liked his “spirits.”
As you investigate you are facing more questions than answers. Was Flossy a loose woman, carrying on with no good philanderer while her husband was away at war? Did her husband “do her in” and throw her into a well when he returned from the war? And how does a dear sweet little red headed lass fit into all of this? Does she remind Florry of someone? You better be watching out for flying objects dealing with Florry.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are very creative. They are varied and the one thing I like about them is that they are interactive. In most of the HOP scenes you will not only locate items, but also use them to interact with the scene. The very first scene requires you to create a type of drink for your loveable drunken helper, but it only adds to “humour” and delight of this game. Most of the scenes in the portion of the game I played are interactive lists of items or silhouette.
PUZZLES: So well-done and creative! There are more puzzles than HOP scenes and they are not only varied, but also, include some new puzzles we have not seen before. They are all easy. My favorite puzzle was a matching puzzle in which you must place couples together (just as in real life with E-Harmony) according to their preferences. I LOVED that puzzle. Although it is not difficult, it is a fun activity – even more so seeing what is available in the “dating pool” for that quaint little village! Other puzzles from the demo include a multiple-step one using a storybook, a gear puzzle, a math puzzle, a weights and balance puzzle, rotating tiles puzzle, matching puzzle, sequence puzzle, and switch puzzle. After the demo there is a maze puzzle (which I found hard to maneuver), a logic puzzle, and a Simon Says puzzle.
FAVORITE MOMENT: My favorite segment of the game was the budding romance-in-bloom between an Italian confectioner and a writer/horticulturist. And, of course, our stereotypical chubby little “novelist” is hiding behind an awesome pair of large, horn rimmed glasses working away diligently behind her typewriter. Your liquored up helper will assist in this budding romance by helping you translate old French poetry as a gift from the candy maker to his own sweet lady love. So comical!

Although minus the usual bells and whistles, game was packed full of challenge, good puzzles, great hidden object scenes, interesting plot and sometimes difficult morphing objects to spot. I was short three morphing items tried as I might. No achievements or ability to replay puzzles or hidden object scenes which was no bother. The game stands on it's own two feet in excellence which I prefer rather than time consuming frills.
No annoying music and gamers do have a some times helper Oscar who is glad to help for an alcoholic beverage or two. Only the best for Oscar!
Appreciate Vendel Games Developers for all their dedication and hard work. Especially liked their self-portraits that added a personal touch. Spirit of Revenge are one of my top favorite games! Enjoy! -Mama Mia- Show less

James Barton has retired from the police force and is now the proud owner of the famous Red Dragon Pub. The locals all know that this pub is haunted, and have dubbed one harmless spirit, Florry. Today however, things have changed, and Florry is no longer a harmless spirit, she's revengeful! Revengeful spirits are bad for business, so James has asked his longtime friend, Brenda Gale to investigate his pub and find out why Florry is in a Fury!
My favorite part of this game is my partner in crime, Oscar Quincy, one of the Pub's frequent flyer ghost who has a passion for punch, mixed with alcohol, lot's of alcohol. In fact he requires a drink to wet his whistle quite often, but he's the life of the party, well, technically he's not alive, but he's still pretty funny. In my opinion, Quincy is this game's saving grace, the graphics are hand drawn, giving the game a cartoonish fake appearance. Spirit of Revenge: The Cursed Castle (2014) Elizabeth's Secret and Gem Fury (2015) all have remarkable graphics that are far superior to the graphics in Florry's Well, and for the life of me, I can't understand why they cut corners and decided hand drawn graphics would work in this genre. Save those type of graphics for fairytales and keep computer generated graphics in this genre! The Spirit of Revenge Collector's Edition's have always had worthy extras, but this game doesn't even offer Achievements which are usually a staple item in a CE. Other than a handful of pictures, this game really only offers 44 Morphing Objects. I love Morphs, but I will more than likely pass on buying this Collector's Edition unless BF has a really big sale offer I cannot refuse.
The Hidden Object Scenes are actually quite decent, although almost all of them are the same type. Most HOP's are Interactive, Progressive Silhouetted Shape Puzzles where you find the first item that matches the silhouetted shape shown, and then use that item interactively back in the scene to expose the next item and they usually have some type of puzzle to solve such as balancing weight scales using various sized weights. There are also HOP's that are more like Mini Games where you interact with the scene to find ghosts, or find missing fragments.
The Mini Games are fairly easy and can be solved without much frustration. Below are some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Wake the cashier by fixing the clock and setting the correct time. First place gears correctly and then set the clock using various time increment buttons.
2) Select and enter the correct Bus Route number and then insert the correct amount of money.
3) Find Missing fragments and assemble the stone pattern.
4) Plant flowers to look like the picture shown.
5) Repair the symbol by rotating the pieces selected. Rotate, click and drag to the correct positions.
This Collector's Edition has 17 VG team pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 6 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art Pictures, 44 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy! Show less

Parapsychologist Brenda Gale is on the job once again after being called by retired Inspector Bolton who is now the owner of a pub inhabited by an unhappy spirit. Although Bob knew the pub was haunted, its resident ghost has always been peaceful until recently. Something changed and now Florry is on a rampage and Bob has lost almost all of his customers.
The graphics are beautiful and hand drawn but the voice overs are a bit iffy with some very American accents for a game that takes place in England. What I absolutely hate about this game is the very clunky user interface area that has ghostly hands and a blue vapor that surrounds the inventory. The interface seemed quite unfriendly and at times non-responsive as well as overly large and, as a result, quite annoying. If the game had not intrigued me I would have skipped this one simply because of the clunky interface. There is a custom mode of gameplay but it seems rather pointless because there are not many options available to “customize”.
Your tools include an interactive map and there is a journal of sorts where information is stored. Well in a change from animal helpers we now have a ghost who is somewhat of a boozer and at times hysterically funny. As one would expect, we will periodically need to ply him with various “spirits” before he will help.
The HOPS are very creative and well designed. Although the HOPS are nothing new they are quite clever and some require several steps in order to receive the item you will need to progress in the game. The puzzles are excellent and a bit different than those we normally see. I particularly enjoyed the one where we needed to purchase a bus ticket. Some puzzles are tricky but not so challenging that they proved frustrating. What I look for in puzzles is entertainment value rather than-over-the top challenge that drives me crazy.
The CE version of the game has collectibles to find and if you play the demo you will notice the “trick” to locating them. The remainder of the package is the standard fluff with nothing exceptional added. If you are new to playing HOPA games then the CE is always a good value because of the in-game strategy guide. I mostly opt for the CE version of a game because I am such a HOPA addict that I hate to wait for a month until the SE is released.
Aside from the very unfriendly user interface area I love the game. The storyline is excellent as we bring peace to this particular unhappy spirit. The HOPS and puzzles are what make the game quite fun and entertaining – at least for me. Although some think the game is short, it really depends on how fast you play. I tend to play slowly and take the time to gawk at all the scenery and special effects, which are wonderful in Spirit of Revenge Florry’s Well. Even though I love this game, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. Show less

Hi all! Been waiting for this one since I beta tested it a while back. The graphics are very nice and clear. Colors are bright and true for a change. Game play was excellent, no problems at all and it fit my large screen. Music was rather soothing and nice, considering we are dealing with ghosts. Animation was very well done. I really liked the voice overs, age and character appropriate and they actually showed emotion. There really isn't much in the way of sound FX, but I didn't really miss them either. We do have a helper, who seems to have a bit of a drinking problem. He only helps when you get him something to drink, and I don't mean water. Half way though the game, he's going to be too sloshed to help anyone at this rate.
HOPs are a combination of interactive lists and find a part and use it in the scene. Items are not difficult to find and the scenes are fairly clear. I didn't see that there was anything else you could switch to on this one. Puzzles were not too many during the demo, and were quite simple. Hint system is very helpful and it does transport you as well. Not a tremendous amount of back tracking, but some.
The only collectibles I found are morphing items. If this is all there is, it is quite disappointing. The item morphs quite quickly.
I'm not sure why I like this game. It is not challenging, nor is it a new or different story. Maybe it's the ghost idea. I don't know, but I do like it and I will be adding it to my collection of CE games. I think most all levels of players would find this one interesting for one reason or another.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the review. Show less
