Mankind has been oblivious to the secret war that has been waged deep beneath the surface for over a thousand years! In the beginning, humans were terrorized by demons, but a few elite individuals formed an order to fight back against these evil entities. The "Demon Hunters" risked their lives to protect the world at any cost, Dawn is a Demon Hunter, the last of her kind. After defeating the Archdemon, Ragner, the demon responsible for her father's death, she realizes evil never rests, and neither can she! Dawn's good friend and demonic believer, Sheriff Arthur Brown has asked for help in solving the murder of Olivia Martin whose only child, Lila is has been missing ever since. This case has all the signs of supernatural and demonic activity surrounding it. Evil does exist my friend, and as long as there are demons to torment humans, the Demon Hunters will risk their lives to protect mankind.
I've always been a fan of this series, Chronicles From Beyond was a really good game, but the graphics were less than desirable, A New Chapter came along with a very intriguing storyline and much improved graphics, Revelation however has got it all, beautiful computer generated graphics, creative puzzles and a super exciting plot. The Collector's Edition version has Achievements to earn and 45 Hidden Collectibles in three different categories, Coins, Dolls (creepy dolls) and Scrolls which are basically Family Tree portraits with bios. Personally, I purchased the CE because I'm a fan of all the collectibles and extra's they have to offer, but THIS STANDARD EDITION is perfectly fine if you don't care about the extra's.
The Hidden Object Scenes are very well done but nothing to write home about, there are Interactive List Finds and Silhouetted Shape Finds, Symbols to Find in a storybook, some of which leave behind or expose fragments or keys needed to find the final object. Some of the HOP scenes have a morphing objects that must be in their correct form to click on. In the Collector's Edition there is an optional Matching Pair Game where you flip over two tokens at a time and try to find matching pairs of images.
The Mini Games however are top notch, but then again, this entire series has always offered creative puzzles. The following are brief descriptions of some of the Mini Games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Turn all crystals green by rotating them left or right, left turns crystals 2 fields left, right turns crystals 3 fields right.
2) Find symbols shown by interacting with a storybook.
3) Discover the order in which the symbols hanging from chains on each door should be pressed by interactively uncovering clues in the correct order.
4) Rotate cylinder sections to complete the image, clicking on one section affects others.
5) Place and rotate the gears on to the designated surface in a correct order so that each of them rotate.
The Collector's Edition has re-playable Mini Games and Hidden Object Puzzles, 5 Music Soundtracks, 24 Concept Art Pictures, 6 Wallpapers, 15 Hidden Coins, 15 Hidden Dolls, 15 Hidden Scrolls, 8 Achievements available in Gold, Silver and Bronze, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! After defeating the arch demon Ragnar, you have been called in to investigate a crime that seems to have demon written all over it. In Demon Hunter 3: Revelation, you are investigating the murder of a local woman whose daughter is now missing. Your old friend detective Brown has asked for your help, so you agree to take a look and see what you can find. Sure enough you do find things that indicate this is indeed a supernatural case.
When I played the beta for the game the graphics were quite mediocre at best and I was quite happy to see that the dev has polished them up a bit before releasing the game. The graphics are now much crisper and I’m happy they managed to keep the eeriness that gives the game a great spooky feel. The game does offer four modes of gameplay that include the custom mode. If you select the custom mode the hints recharge in a range of 5 to 90 seconds and mini-game skips in a range of 5 to 120 seconds and you can also get rid of that dreaded misclick penalty.
You have an interactive transporter type map that is present when you begin the game.
The HOPS present a variety of styles most of them familiar but I like the way the developer has set them up to offer a bit of a change from what we normally find. That feature alone makes the game worth playing. Unfortunately, I found some of the items difficult to locate in the scenes, and that is particularly true in those where we must find items according to silhouettes. The mini-games are awesome and without a doubt one of the best parts of this game. Some of the minis are very challenging so I did skip them during the demo but can’t wait to get into the full game and take my time while I enjoy solving them.
Demon Hunter Revelation is an awesome game and although we are dealing with another demon, a storyline that is becoming a bit too over-done, I still love this game and everything it has to offer particularly the HOPS and mini-games. The development team has done a terrific job of putting together a game that is sure to please those of us who enjoy spooky games. Even though I love this game, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. Show less

This was my first game in the series, and I chose it based upon the reviews. It's a great game so I align with the higher end of the reviews.

The storyline, while familiar, has enough twists and turns so it really is not quite yet another demon hunter story, and I think that's partly due to the high caliber mini-games and HOPS. They are integral to the pace of the story, rather like sub plots. Very well done. The variety of the HOPS is superb, and I found myself really looking forward to the next HOP. Same for the mini-games.
The game does start slow but it picks up and is well worth the time. The game is quite dark graphically but at the time quite detailed. The map was a necessity for me. Very little dialogue in this game but enough. Looking forward to playing more games in this series.
I play games at the casual level, taking time to look at graphic details, as well I pay attention to dialogue and plot execution. All my reviews are based upon completed play of the game. Show less

It's hard to say why this one didn't hit the gaming sweet spot. There is, I stress, nothing wrong with the game at all. It is a decently long, well put together HOG with some good puzzles.

My quibbles are minor really. Some of the scenes are very dark on my machine and the ending is conclusive but not really explained. I don't play with sound, so can't comment on that. Another minor irritant was the constant capitalisation of "You" in the dialogue.
Possibly I was just underwhelmed because it was all very familiar, but then a lot of games are and some of them click and some of them don't.
I am recommending because there's nothing to really dislike and what didn't work for me may well be someone else's perfect cup of tea. Try it and see. Show less

Part 3 in the series lacks Achievements in 1&2 and no bonus chapter as in #1. It is a good HOS adventure and the background story is much better developed than in 1&2, but the graphics suck. The characters look like zombies and computer generated, very crudely I might add. Plus it returns to the gloomy, dark, and dreary background as in #1.

It could have been much better if they had made graphics and characters nicer looking and more life-like.
There are a few puzzles that are straight out of 1&2, just the color changed. BUT there are a lot to do to get to the end, so it is a decently long game, especially if you play without sparkles and hints throughout.
I would recommend this game, but only if purchased on sale or as a freebie. Show less

Mini games! UGH! turn left, turn right, storybook to reveal with some items hard to find so lots of clicking and then when a game repeated 3 times I called it a day...find symbols on the wall and pillars to match accordingly with hanging chain symbols. I didn't want to face a potential forth. Also the old tired broken zipper. Find some new and innovative minds to work on development and especially story line and dialogue...doesn't anyone have an imagination? Get rid of the lazy storybook themes and laughable games that are just old and over used. As far as the story it didn't pull me in either. Show less

Don't buy this game, it is beyond insulting to any age of intellect and you can't recomend for kids because of the dark nature of the storyline. Total waste of money and really a huge let down after the first two games:( Show less
