Based on Beta Test and demo game play
I was fortunate to beta test this game. I have been a fan of the other Dark Dimension games so I was thrilled to play the demo. The game met and exceeded my expectations. Clear, colorful graphics, interesting story line that held my attention and no technical issues.
I have been waiting for the release to find out how the story ends!!
I recommend this game!

This was an excellent game to play. The map was very helpful and the story line flowed the way I wanted it to. No frustration trying to do the HOP's.

Happy Anniversary, newlyweds! To celebrate, you and your hubby will be attending a 5-star dinner theater performance by the Blade Master. I LOVE this game which has everything a love smitten gaming couple could wish for. To me, this game is a better produced game than previous ones by this developer. The graphics are realistic and up-to-date (and it is nice to see a college-age girl who has a modern, current look). The game script is well-written. The pace is excellent and you will keep busy with various tasks trying to escape the Blade Master who is “shooting daggers” at you. The HOP scenes are standard fare; however, the puzzles are exceptional! The game is fairly basic with only one collectible and no achievements (which is rather unusual). There are no morphing objects nor a replay of the HOP scenes and puzzles. There is also no game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. Your “helper” is a knife coffin, containing knives you use throughout the game.
STORY: Celebrating your anniversary, you discover that this celebratory evening will not be the entertainment you expected. The Blade Master has some hidden secrets up his sleeve, including his desire to exact revenge against the town of New Auburn and to complete a ritual to open up the Dark Dimensions. When you are chosen to help the Blade Master with his performance, you soon realize that there are more to these daggers than meets the eye. When the performance begins with the Blade Master “shooting daggers” at his assistant and hitting her, your husband rushes to help her and gets hit with a poisoned dagger. You will need to chase down the Blade Master and get the antidote to save your husband. At the same time, you will need to stop the Blade Master from opening up the Dark Dimensions.
HOP SCENES: There is an equal amount of HOP scenes and puzzles. I am impressed with the HOP scenes in the demo; however not so much in the actual game. Two of them in the demo are quite unique. The HOP scenes vary and provide some new twists in HOP design. One of those includes a matching scene in which you must match up pieces of daggers with the daggers themselves. Quite creative! The other impressive HOP scene is a scene in which daggers are suspended in air aimed at you and you must locate all of them, (hopefully, before the reach their mark – you). The other HOP scenes in the demo include a multiple-step one with a list of one type of item to locate followed by a list of items, and the other is a list of items to locate which is very interactive and which also contains a mini-game. After the demo I felt the HOP scenes were cookie cutter versions of each other. You use one of the scenes twice.
PUZZLES: I LOVE the puzzles in this game. The puzzles are AWESOME and vary in difficulty. There are some difficult puzzles in this game, or, at least they require some time to complete. In the demo they include an assembly puzzle, a lock puzzle which is more of a tricky matching puzzle, a sequence puzzle, also a little tricky, and another matching puzzle. After the demo there were some slat puzzles, a sliding tiles puzzle and a maze puzzle. All of the puzzles after the demo are well-done as well.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: I LOVED ALL THE PUZZLES!! However, if I had to choose a favorite in the demo it would be the assembly puzzle in which you must rotate and place pieces of a mask which is in the center, as a target. So well done. Actually all the puzzles I played were excellent!

F. Moving slats puzzle. Restore a picture by moving slats into the proper locations. Moving one affects the others. Rating: 2

Dinner and a show, what a great way to spend your first Anniversary, especially when you've been chosen as the Blade Master's volunteer assistant! Turn's out this could wind up being your first and last anniversary! Everything was going smoothly, you prepared the knives and buckled Sabrina, the other volunteer, tightly to the target board, what could possibly go wrong, after all, he's an expert marksman, right? Anything and everything can go wrong, welcome to the Dark Dimension! This Blade Master has an evil agenda, spill blood with poisoned knives to begin the ritual that awakens the Dark Dimension,,,,,,,again!
Something has happened to the core game series lately, the once famous and dark games of yesterday have become watered down. No longer are the games true to their origins, these games are no longer creepy, dire or scary, they are floating somewhere between a fairytale game and a family oriented G rated movie. Don't misunderstand me, I like fairytale fantasy games, I just don't like it when that theme is presented in a game that has become popular BECAUSE it was a dark scary game genre. What's next, Madame Fate turns the carnival into a bright and happy toyland with pink fuzzy bunnies and happy faced balloon blowing clowns that get kidnapped by a giant purple unicorn? This game is the perfect example, There are no possessed children, no ghosts maliciously wreaking havoc, no imagination, just more of the same, so for that reason, I cannot give this Dark Dimension 5 stars. It's a good game with really good graphics, but it's no Dark Dimension, perhaps it's an almost Dark Dimension that is desperately trying to be, but couldn't go the extra mile.
There isn't a whole lot going on as far as bells and whistles, you do receive a Knife Box that was left behind by the Blade Master. Throughout the adventure you will find pendants that open up different compartments, each compartment holds a knife that is used to open gates that are meant to deter you from following the Master as he attempts to flee, so he's not all that masterful if he left the keys behind. There are several Plus Sign inventory items that require some type of interaction before the item can be used, some of which are small puzzles to solve such as rotating discs to line up correct symbols. Each scene has a Morphing Jigsaw Puzzle piece to locate, some of which are cleverly blended into the scenery. When you find all the pieces, you can assemble each of the 4 puzzles, rotating the pieces with rotation arrows at the bottom. That's about it, no Achievements, or other collectibles available.
The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, but nothing to write home about. There are scenes where you find Multiples of items, Progressive and Interactive listed item finds and Multi-layered scenes, some of which have a puzzle such as clicking on two broken board halves that belong together. I did enjoy the one where you are tasked with finding 12 knives that have been thrown at you and frozen mid air with a 3D type effect. I was actually surprised at how well hidden a few of those knives were.
The Mini Games are decent as well as entertaining, nothing too easy or too difficult. The following are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Place blade fragments onto the correct knives according to the shape of the fragments.
2) Assemble the mask using rotational arrows to turn the mask until the fragments are lined up in the correct position to snap onto the mask.
3) Swap the inner gray plates until they match the outlines of the copper shapes, by swapping the teeth, the teeth can only swap to specific positions shown.
4) Light up all of the candles, clicking on one candle may affect other candles.
5) Use arrows to rotate the loose branches so they will fit over a gem and connect with other branches. They will shine if placed correctly.
This Collector's Edition has 19 Developer's Diary photos, 11 Concept Art photos, 6 Wallpapers, Morphing Jigsaw Puzzle pieces (which have 4 different Puzzles to assemble) 4 Music Soundtracks, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure Chapter, enjoy! Show less

Just a quick hint about the morphing objects you can collect throughout every scene (so you can make your gamer's life a bit easier): The collecting objects are in fact morphing shapes that transform into puzzle pieces. So look out for anything that stands out of the ordinary or becomes blur, thus changing form.

The story was very disjointed, and the ending was just bad. No reunion at the end????.
No achievements???
The puzzle pieces hardly morphed and some were almost impossible to find without the guide. Then four really easy jigsaws, not worth the extra CE price.
It was also pretty violent, did everyone survive?
Good things: Graphics were well done, especially the sea crashing on the beach.
I'm sorry I wasted my money on this CE.
Maybe the SE is a better buy?
