The Christmas themed games are starting to roll out now, and getting to play two different types of Mosaic puzzles in one day is a puzzle geek's dream come true. I love this kind of game where you are given about 8 puzzle fragments at any given time, and you must place them correctly while the clock is ticking. Don't worry though, this game has a Relaxed mode, and it's just as much fun when you're not racing against the clock. I remember when these games were first introduced, they didn't have a relaxed mode, and sometimes when it's a hustle and bustle kind of day, so it's nice to just kick back and relax now and then!

There are 6 Different locations and each location has 20 different puzzles to complete. You must make the required amount of points to unlock the next location, and you earn coins for the correctly placed pieces. You will earn 1 star (which are actually keys) if you fully assemble the puzzle, a second star if you make no mistakes, and a third star if you complete the puzzle within the allotted time. If you are playing in the Relaxed mode, you will automatically earn the third star. I like both modes, but I wish there was still a timer on the relaxed mode that shows how long the puzzle takes you to complete, and what time frame that particular puzzle would be if you weren't playing in the relaxed mode. That would be a super cool feature to add, and I'm sure other Mosaic fans would agree with me. ( hint hint devs :)

You can use the hint feature, and you can add 30 seconds to the clock with the coins you earn. As the timer starts to get close to the end, you will get a 30 second warning so to speak. If you are a puzzle geek, or have the need for speed, this is an awesome puzzle with beautiful pictures of holiday decorations, featuring treats, decorations, family, presents, snowmen and even Santa himself, enjoy! Think of it as being a different type of game--not patchworkz-type puzzles

I was fully expecting to totally agree with lillfive's review. I thought that, as with the recent Halloween mosaics from this dev, 8th floor, this game would be no fun because of the use of photos cut into supposed mosaics instead of the usual pieces textured as wood, glass, stone, etc.

After playing a few pictures, I did agree with lillfive, but I decided that I would try to move ahead to the next level to see if the pictures got better. terric01 said he/she tried to get to the second level to see if the challenge got better, but could not get there because the game required payment. (By the way, it doesn't really require payment, but I had to go back and play some pictures over so that I earned three more stars to progress.)

Conclusion: the second group of puzzles is no different in character from the first group. Still cut up photos. Or semi photos -- different photos pasted together into some sort of picture, sometimes with some artwork thrown in (for example, mantlepiece details). Also, the music is that same old 8th floor music that we are all getting pretty tired of.

As I played through the 20 pictures of the first level, however, I started enjoying myself. I found that, except for photos of people, many of the pictures were charming and gave me the Christmas spirit, playing as I am on Christmas Eve. Also, the way the pictures were cut up added to my interest.

Yes, it is not like the real Patchworkz-type puzzles where there are textures to match as well as colors and shapes. And this game does play a lot faster/easier than a real Patchworkz-type game because the use of photos make the puzzles much easier. (It only took me 41 minutes to play the first 20 puzzles, even with having to replay for more stars.) Still, I had a good time. Just don't expect the same experience as with a real Patchworkz-type puzzle game. Judge it for itself.

The real problem is that this developer (8th floor) does use lousy pictures sometimes (which is why I almost never buy their jigsaw puzzles). And here, you can't even see what all the pictures are going to be, unlike the jigsaw puzzle games. So, though I am buying (with a free coupon), I am having to hope that the rest of the game's pictures are in the same ratio of attractive to unattractive as the first level's.

Still, go in with an open mind, You might like it. Now I have to go back and play the Halloween game again to see if my rating was too low . . . Show less

I really like the game. The pictures are colorful and very clear. The challenges are appropriate. I don't listen to the music and don't care about story lines. Its a buy for me. Merry Christmas to me!

Oh 8Floor where have you gone? I really enjoyed these and I wish they would make more.
If anything gets you into the Christmas spirit, its one of these!

I am playing on a MAC and have found 3 other players in support (also MAC) who get to level 81 and it won't play correctly.
Up to that point I was really enjoying this game!
Sometimes I just want simple fun ala Patchworkz style puzzle.
Would love to see more of these that are like this and the quality of Patchworkz.

I recommend this game!

I recently played Thanksgiving Day Mosaic (by 8Floor Ltd) and enjoyed the various types of materials used in those puzzles. So when I started with this game, Holiday Mosaics Christmas Puzzles, I expected the same quality of puzzles, but I was sadly mistaken. It seems as though the developer, also 8Floor Ltd, suddenly remembered that they needed to make a Christmas puzzle and didn't have the time to do it properly. So, instead, they took old photos and randomly cut them apart. In some puzzles, it made them more difficult, but not in a fun, challenging way. There are several pieces in some puzzles that are just solid background (white, red, gray, etc.) and it made it difficult to see the edges.

I gave this game 3 stars, mainly because I'm a big jigsaw puzzle fan as well (the real ones, not digital) so it gave me something to do at night while traveling over Christmas and everyone else was asleep. Otherwise, I probably would have only given it 1 or 2 stars. Show less

I don't know what has happened to these kinds of puzzle games. They used to be beautiful, with some pieces looking like wood, or stained glass or stone, and now it's just take a real picture, cut it into pieces, slap on a polka dot background and call it a day.

This puzzle and those like it, to me, are ugly and cheap looking. I won't be buying this one or any like it again.

I don't recommend this game.

I love jigsaw puzzles and mosaic puzzles and even time management games, so I didn't mind working against the clock and I am fine with spending quality time putting a puzzle together. It's relaxing for me. .
But this game is painfully boring. In the sample I played I tried to move ahead to another level to see if I could find something challenging, but it asked me to buy more coins. Nope.

I don't recommend this game.
