I love these grid/nonagram puzzles. I look for a new one every time I go to Big Fish. This one is a little different from the penguin and gizmo puzzles that are very popular. No story, just fun times guessing which are the right spaces.

It's very much like its predecessor Spring Mosaics in its setup - you can choose your own skill level or stick with the established ones. I tried the custom and liked it a lot. I prefer the empty spaces to be filled in automatically when I find all the filled ones, and I can choose that.

The graphics are more sophisticated than the penguin series; more like the Arizona Rose graphics. I like the space type background, and the pictures I uncovered in each puzzle related to the space theme. I even recognized most of them! I found the music very soothing. Unlike some of the music in other games that can interfere with my thought patterns. I don't want quick tempos or irritating notes - my brain needs peace and quiet for enjoying the game! Show less

Space Mosaics is a griddler game by the same devs as Spring Mosaics and Forest Mahjong. They are the only games of this nature that I can recall, who offer a completely customizable game feature. Space Mosaics is a griddler game by the same devs as Spring Mosaics and Forest Mahjong. They are the only games of this nature that I can recall, who offer a completely customizable game feature. You can play in a Casual, Normal or Expert difficulty mode, or tweak the features that suit you in Custom mode. You can choose a Timed mode and whether or not you want a Time Bonus, how many available mistakes you are allowed from 1-5, how fast the Hint recharges from 30-120 seconds, and if you want the numbers to be crossed off one by one or only when the entire row has been completed.

This Sci-fi griddler mosaic has only a few colors offered per level, allowing you to switch between colors to help solve the puzzle. Goal levels are given to you before the start of each level, and are usually in the form of completing the puzzle with under a specified amount of mistakes made. You will earn all 3 stars, even if you use hints or make fewer than the allotted amount of mistakes!

The features I disliked about this griddler are that you can earn 3 stars even with mistakes made as long as you don't go over the mistakes allowed. To me, earning 3 stars should not be possible unless you make no mistakes. I also found the music to be really annoying, at times it became louder than normal, and I finally had to turn the music off completely to fix the problem. The grids themselves sit in the upper left corner, not in the middle of the screen where you think it should be, to me, this was an annoying feature, at least the music problem was solvable. Lastly, the sci-fi pictures that are shown before the puzzle starts is really cool looking, but the completed mosaic picture is not that special. I recommend Fantasy Mosaics and Rainbow Mosaics which has much better pictures and way more color! Show less

However, it's surprisingly annoying that the pictures you end up with don't seem to actually represent anything at all. Some seem to be purely abstract; some seem to represent the colors of other very elaborate finished pictures without being in any way representative. Does that really matter? Well, no; it's still a mosaic puzzle and just as puzzling. But it's not really that hard to make the mosaic form some sort of picture, as we've seen in other games. These are just splotches of color, and not particularly pleasant colors at that.

Hence my title. If you're desperate for a new mosaic game, this will do. If you're not, try replaying one of the Fantasy Mosaic games. They do the same job MUCH better. Show less

Like the pictures, clear colors, customizable options. Liked that it went to more challenging puzzles right away.
Disappointed in the carelessness of producing this kind of common puzzle. Many are not solvable except by guessing or hints. Rows do not fully cross out after completion. Has some promise but take your time to be accurate developers and you will have a winner.

I don't recommend this game.

I love mosaics and space, so this game seemed like a perfect match. Ultimately it was disappointing.

First of all, it doesn't follow the typical pattern of puzzles that gradually increase in difficulty.
First puzzle: typical simplistic starter puzzle.
Second puzzle: big jump in both size and complexity but still okay.
Third puzzle: lovely space scene, BUT there were no grid lines to help you count spaces.
Fourth puzzle: Bzzzt!! This one-color puzzle had a section where you had to GUESS every single (because they were all singles) mark because logic had nothing to do with it.

It was at this point that I bailed out. This is supposed to be a logic game, not a guessing game.

Other positives: I liked the "space-y" music and the lovely backgrounds. I even liked the puzzle that created a space scene—except for the lack of grid lines, which is why this got a 4 instead of a 5 on visual/sound. The customization options were more detailed than you usually get with a mosaic game, including a variable timer on the hint.

Other negatives: the controls for setting the challenge level were very clunky. There was a "time bonus" that stayed in play even with the game timer turned off. You could turn it off, but it was a separate item, and no explanation of what this bonus actually accomplished. Menu boxes looked very basic/plain but had long lists. Also there didn't seem to be an option to set the game for less than full screen, nor to select the appearance of the "gems" in the squares. Show less

In many puzzles you have to guess what must be your next move. In these type of puzzles you must calculate, not guessing
