Loved having a Griddler with a little challenge for a change. Very nice layout - and good gameplay. Trouble is the rest of the griddlers are now a bit boring including the multicoloured ones. I want some more like this please. Am looking forward to the next one.
I recommend this game!

And it has a storyline, of sorts, about Red Riding Hood rescuing her parents. Not to intrusive, but nice.
I think that this developer is taking up the mantle of the classical World Mosaics - gone too soon from us Show less

Excellent value! I'm loving this game. It seems to go on forever! It's always sad when you get to the end of a game, and you're like "Wait, is that it?" You won't have that here. The puzzles are challenging too, so you'll get hours upon hours of a brain workout. I can't really comment on the story line as there's too much time in between dialogues for me to know what's going on. But it doesn't matter, just complete the puzzles without mistakes and you're good. No penalties that I've noticed for using hints. And, I've definitely needed them... Great game, definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys this type of puzzle. Show less

A challenging quest. Good fun for many days. Yes, some of the mosaics are hard to see but after some time you get used to the smaller size of the many squares.

Grids were fairly easy to count and there was no automatic fill in (finally) and so thinking was required to figure out what was not part of the puzzle as well as what was.
The game description was a little misleading. I expected some animation of the puzzle at the end because of the 'come to life' description. Colorful pixel art was the final result.
A relaxing demo.

I actually liked these puzzles so far - most of the way through the trial. The publisher doesn't give you options to customize it, so you have to be careful at first to get used to their marking technique.
Most publishers don't mark off a clue unless the block(s) it represents have the cells before and after it marked off. This publisher marks of the clue even if it is a single block in the middle of a row of ten cells with 4 other unsolved clues in the row. So, until you get used to how they do it, count your groups of blocks and match them to the clues.
I don't care about storylines (I read books for storylines), and I usually turn the music off. For some reason I only turned it down and found an interesting phenomenon for those of us susceptible to rhythms. The sound made when you click a cell sounds a little like a tenor bongo drum that goes with, and makes an interesting counter beat to, the music. Found myself clicking in time to the music - a little distracting. LOL
The other thing that was a little annoying till I learned to ignore it, is this timer thing on the right side. If you click quickly in succession it goes up. If you stop to think, it goes down. If it goes to the top, it pops and it gives you a clue. I don't use clues - if I make a mistake, I start over, even if it is the last clue - so it is a useless distraction to me.
These puzzles seem to somehow solve differently than all the popular nonogram games on BigFish. (Except maybe that "World Mosaics" series from a long time ago.) They just "feel" less cliche. Don't ask me why - I have no idea what is different.
All the ones I have done so far have been legitimate puzzles (only one possible solution, not two or more where the publisher says only one solution is right so you have to either guess or use hints, not logic - blech!)
If you are a Logic Puzzle Purist (LPP - sniff) like me, I think you will enjoy this game. People who really like the penguin puzzle games will probably find it blah at best, but most likely just frustrating. It doesn't have the same solving patterns, there aren't multiple colors, there aren't cheat options - like removing empty squares from completed rows. Although it DOES cross off clues for you (i consider that cheating too, but you can't turn it off. Oh well. LOL) If you can't fill your timer fast enough to win hints, you can buy them in the "store" with gold coins you earn for solving puzzles.
If you're a "Penguiner" for sure do the trial first because there is a good chance you won't like it. Me, I'm buying it. :)
[PS - Yes, I'm ashamed to admit, I own several of the Penguin games. Sigh] Show less

This isn't a bad game. It's not as good/fun as World Mosaic but all in all it's just another mosaic game. Nothing special but it certainly didn't annoy me. 2017

I liked the storyline and music in this "Japanese Crossword" but I hated the fact that the rows and columns lit up in a green hue whenever your cursor rested on them. This was annoying and made it difficult to see the options, especially when the filled in cells were green as well. It's just a habit I have to use the cursor to count cells, so this probably won't annoy anyone else like it did me. ...Show more

There is an actual storyline on this griddler as you solve griddlers alongside little Red Riding Hood. Her parents were taken by massive wolves called Grey Avengers, when she was a child. Now that she's no longer "little" Red Riding Hood (Red is apparently her first name) all grown up Red, is heading for the castle on top of the highest mountain, to fetch herself a pail of water, or in this case, her parents. I've a feeling she's not going to win a battle with massive wolves armed with only a single key (what was granny thinking?) and she'll fall straight over that wall and break her little crown. You can be as brave as you can be, but shaking a key at these terrifying wolves is only going to make them madder, in fact she can shake that key at them till the cow's start jumping over the moon, and it just isn't going to accomplish much. Perhaps she should just sit down on a tuffet and eat some curds and whey, and think this plan through, but it's just a suggestion.
There are no settings available to allow rows and columns to be marked off automatically, but there are a few interesting features. There is a Bonus Meter that fills a hint meter, the faster you fill in cells, the faster you will receive a hint. You can also buy hints in the shop with the coins you earn playing. You can buy upgraded hint features that begin with filling in a single cell, a string of cells or a 5x5 block of cells, and you can upgrade allowed mistakes of 3, 4 or even a whopping 6 mistakes allowed.
You can earn up to 3 stars per level, and you must earn at least one star to unlock the next level, one star is deducted for each mistake. On the map, there are wooden markers that show how many stars are required to unlock the next chapter. If it wasn't for the distraction of the green highlighted rows and columns, I may have enjoyed this griddler, give it a try before you buy! Show less

This game is so inferior to the other griddler type games that are out there that it is pathetic. The x's that fill the unused spaces are too big and confusing. The game does not fill in a row after you have completed the required tiles. it's a confusing mismash that I wouldn't buy even if it was a 2.99 special.
The penguins would be embarrassed.

When I saw the images for the game, I thought it was going to be bright and full of color. But actually you do the grids in monochrome. Then the color appears after you finish it. That's the "coming alive" that is mentioned. I'd thought maybe there was some animation or something else fun.
