Got this on a daily Deal. Wasn't sure about it but hey, for the price I decided to try it. It turned out to be a really good game and I enjoyed it since it had a good mix of HOS and Mini Games. They were't too hard mostly and I like it that way. I usually don't have the patience for mini games. Graphics were good and not dark like some games. I like to be able to see the things and not have to click randomly. There's quite a bit of back and forth but the map solves that. Some of the HOS are in a smaller screen but easy enough to see. Lots of interactive ones too. The story line was fantasy but then aren't most games? It has a surprise ending too. All in all a good buy, especially for $3.05. It is worth the regular price. Plus it's a pretty long game so you get your moneys worth. Show less

There is nothing wrong with this game. It has some interesting mini-puzzles (one with a horse through a maze which is fun) and the hidden objects are varied. The graphics are well done and there is not a lot of talking (which I like). For an SE it is a long one, and you have all the usual items: task, hint, map and choice of game play.

I recommend this game!

In Black Sun, your newly appointed commander returns home to a welcome from her father which is quickly spoiled by a ferocious enemy released for reasons unknown from a statue in the town square. Guess who will be responsible for defeating that enemy and saving the town? Yup, you.

The game takes a couple of turns before you reach the conclusion, and the story of both the lizard and the town are not quite what you would expect. The gameplay is pretty standard, though a couple of the minigames are interesting variations and the way in which you reveal new items or areas are sometimes unique. Voice acting is good. Game looks okay but nothing spectacular.

HO scenes are plentiful, especially near the end, but many are shorter lists with not a lot of ground to cover. The game takes longer than you'd think to complete, though, and I found the main story of the game to be more interesting than usual. You also wield a unique weapon throughout the game which was different and made the minigames related to it make much more sense. Good work from a long game. Show less

I've liked this series from the beginning, but Black Sun was a real disappointment. I've played this twice and each time I have mixed feelings. Starts out nice with a good premise but then it falls into the typical HO games put out these days. And, of course, you have to play as a female again. Why can't they give us a choice?
HO's and mini games are interesting and fun and have just the right amount of challenge to keep your mind awake.
Fairly fast paced game that moves along nicely although confusing at times and takes some unexpected turns. Characters are a little cartoonish and seem to be overly excited about this lizard running amuck. Even the healer was astonished when you come up with all the ingredients for her potion and was skeptical that it would even work. Come on, she's a healer and should have researched a little more. Oh well.
Graphics and scenery are nice to look at and even the dark areas aren't bad.
All in all this was a game worth playing the demo but I don't know if I would buy it because you already know how it will end generally and there is no excitement in that.
I recommend it, again, with reservations. Play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun! Show less

I think that if I had played the demo first I would not have ended up buying it. It was okay, but it was too boring for me really. The level of difficulty was low and there was a lot of repetitive tasks and puzzles. Just not my cup of tea.

I don't recommend this game.

Your assignment as Commander has brought you to your hometown and Dad couldn't be more proud of you all dressed up in shining armor! Your assignment as Commander has brought you to your hometown and Dad couldn't be more proud of you all dressed up in shining armor! The Baron has issued martial law, because a giant basilisk has been selectively petrifying the townsfolk. When the giant lizard turns your very own father into stone, you immediately take action as commander instead of daddy's little girl. Further investigation reveals that your father and a few other men followed questionable orders given to them by the Baron himself, on a hunting trip over 20 years ago. After a rare occurrence of the Black Moon Eclipse, the basilisk was transformed into a bipedal monster by night and by day, takes the form of a human! His gaze turns its victim to stone, with no known reversal cure. To defeat the Basilisk, you must first figure out what happened on that hunting trip, but the answer may not be the answer you want to learn about your dad.

Before dad turned to stone, he gave you an important gift, a weapon he used in the war, and had modified by an alchemist with a powerful gem. The newly forged "Protector" is capable of battling foe, and shielding the innocent, after playing a mini game naturally. I was utterly bored with this game and couldn't wait until the demo ended. I found the graphics to be cartoonish at times, the tasks at hand monotonous and the storyline ridiculous. Each scene in the CE version has a hidden Lizard, but none of them look like a lizard in my opinion. There was nothing about this game that make me want to play it after the demo.

The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with Multiples of the same item finds, finding Pairs of items that are Associated, and Progressive Interactive Silhouetted Shape finds, some of the HOP's offer a small puzzle or Mini Game. At least this game offers a variety that will suit just about everyone's taste, the scenes are clear and the items are recognizable. In the Collector's Edition version, each of the HOP's have a Morphing Object to find.

The Mini Games were good, but nothing really impressive. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Select pairs of keys that are connected by the same string to remove.

2) Assemble a mosaic picture offered in a Hidden Object Scene.

3) Shoot the arrow when several bars are in the green zone.

4) Select and place items in the scene where they belong.

5) Select a symbol on the item and then on the Protector until all have been removed. (this game is played each time you use the Protector)

6) Drag the energy ball along the pattern without going outside of the lines. (this game is played each time you use the Protector as well, with different symbol designs)

7) Raise all of the crown tiles by selecting snakes to move along the rails to open and close compartments until all sections of the crown are raised.

8) Press all the keys to move the wheel to the other side. Keys can only be used once, numbers and arrows show distance and direction, wooden knobs adjust the number of moves on blank keys.

9) Pull out the string by selecting the correct holes.

10) Find evidence of the basilisk, according to the clues. Select arrows to move the telescope, move the eye slider to adjust the focus and then select the evidence found.

The Collector's Edition has a Souvenir Room, Skipping Stones Games, 13 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 23 replayable Puzzles, 19 Videos, 7 Music Soundtracks, 8 Concept pictures, 8 Wallpapers, a Terrarium, 27 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. Show less
