This series was not among my top favourites, but it grew on me over the years. So I was quite sad to learn this would be the last one.
Eve Glover has taken the gamers to many territories, I was curious to see whereto in this instalment.
A toe, no, claw tapping dinosaur in the intro got me interested; after the introduction and the warm up, the player is taken to a colourful land somewhere in time and space.
A pterodactyl flies by, a young man is concerned about the well being of his tribe and needs help to free his dinosaur that got tangled in some vines.
This really took me into this story which was very moving, sad at times, but with funny moments as well.
The scenery is just great. In the scene „Overlook“ you see the head of a dinosaur, in the next scene, „Jungle“ parts of his body and his legs.
When he finally is freed from the vines and walks off, the ground is shaking.
And you not only get to ride a dinosaur. Wished this scene would have lasted muuuuch looooonger.
Many more details made this game very enjoyable for me. I spent far too much time in the temple, I loved playing the Glockenspiel, totally irrelevant to game-play, just fun fun fun.
Music themes from former Voyages and new tunes delivered a very fitting background. Game-play was smooth, didn’t have any issues.
HOP’s and mini-games were varied and very well presented. Some were pretty easy, some took me quite a bit of time to complete.
The story of the main game was complete, the Bonus Chapter is a prequel, a story about one of the characters from the main game. Good to play with a person of a different ethnicity, I can’t remember many of them in games.
Extras were the usual fare, personally I’m happy with a good Bonus Chapter and being able to replay HOP’s and mini-games.
One tiny criticism, but ok, probably things work differently in a land and time, where people have tamed dinosaurs. Here and now, as far as I know, it’s bees that make honey, not wasps :-)
And a small addition to game settings: you can switch off pop-up notifications (in options), in difficulty you can not only choose recharge time of hint and skip, they can be switched off completely.
Sometimes when I finish a game, I ask myself: what next? Which game will it be?
Right now I have no desire to start another one.
Or, maybe one of the former Amaranthine Voyages?

Amaranthine Voyage: The Burning Sky is the 8th edition in this fan favorite and it is also the last. I have enjoyed all the installments of this fast paced adventure series since the original game "The Tree of Life" launched in January of 2013. In this final journey you play the role of Eve Glover one last time. She may very well be looking for another career since Eipix has retired this series. I have always loved this series and all eight editions are definitely worth investigating. Amaranth Voyage: The Burning Sky involves a wide range of imaginative elements; from the characters to the landscapes and even time-traveling. Unfortunately, this compelling concept is ruined by a confusing storyline that is hard to follow. I can appreciate Eipix’s attempt to differentiate this game from other fantasy titles in the market, but sometimes a complicated storyline backfires. The visuals in Amaranthine Voyage: The Burning Sky are simply out of this world. The locations in this game are perhaps the best I have seen from Eipix so far. The level of detail in each scene is mind-blowing, and the soothing colors make the experience much more magical. Honestly, I paid the CE price just to witness the graphics in this game alone. The gameplay is nothing special, but professionally executed. The variations of hidden object scenes are decent, and so are the mini-games. Most of the time, they are well-integrated into the storyline and are of easy to medium difficulty. The main game is four hours long, and the bonus chapter is roughly an hour. Cheers!

Seriously, this is a great addition to the "Amaranthine Voyage" series. Kind of wish there was more interaction with the dinosaurs, but other than that I had a great deal of fun. I only skipped 2 puzzles (which for me is a fantastic effort).

It's a game taking place in another world with dinosaurs! What more could you want?! Ok, it has some good HOS for people who like those and a bubble shooter for those that don't. I have to admit the storyline broke my heart for reasons I won't reveal, although I was somewhat confused about when the bonus game takes place initially. All in all, a great game.

Eve Glover is back and this time she has been called to explore an excavation site in the Montana Foothills that had been shut down twenty years earlier due to an earthquake that made the site unstable and unsafe for further investigation. Now that the site has been deemed safe the University has requested that Eve, a renowned archaeologist, continues the excavation to see what she can find. Well, I guess it should be no surprise that what Eve finds is even more than she imagined and will take on a journey into this latest game in the Amaranthine Voyage series, the Burning Sky.

Graphics are a mixed bag with them most times being crisp and clear but then there are some scenes that seem almost grainy. For the most part the graphics are very colorful. The game offers four modes of gameplay to select when setting up the game – Hatchling, Fledgling, Mature, and Diverse (Custom). Hints 10 – 120 Seconds and skips: 10 - 400 seconds. Tools include a map and an Ancient Artifact

HOPS were usual but I am noticing that the items in the scenes are becoming much more indistinct and difficult to find. This could be due to an effort to make the games more difficult but the danger is that it is making the HOPS frustrating and tedious. It would be nice to see a blend that will keep those who want more challenging HOPA games happy as well as satisfying those who play for relaxation and enjoyment. I know it can be a fine line to walk but people like me might stop buying games HOPA games when items are too difficult to find. I’m not saying every item has to be jump-in-your face easy to find but there has to be a realistic blend. However, in this game if you don’t want to search for items or find them too difficult to spot then there is an alternate bubble-popper game available.
From the demo it seems that there is a good blend of puzzles with some being more challenging. There are some puzzles that are creative and different from those we see consistently from this developer and I applaud their efforts to keep most of us happy – particularly those of us who play virtually every HOPA game to come our way. There is an idol placement puzzle early in the game that had me scratching my head because I simply couldn’t figure it out. When I get the full game I will take my time and work through it until I get it. I really like that particular puzzle and believe there will be others ahead.
CE Extras include: Collect 30 Dinosaurs, 22 Achievements to earn, 12 Wallpapers, 5 Music Tracks, 12 Movies, Replay 21 Mini-games and 13 HOPS, Souvenir Room, Strategy Guide – 36 pages, and a Bonus Game. I did not find any morphing objects in the usual places in HOPS or in the various scenes. It seems like in recent months this developer has been cutting corners and slimmed down their extra content. The games are also becoming shorter. Perhaps there is too much pressure on this once top-notch developer to produce far too many games per year. Whatever the reason, the quality has slipped considerably so many of you might wish to skip the CE version of the game.

There are some things I enjoy about this game but the storyline was a bit confusing. Even though the demo ends on a cliff hanger, I didn’t care for the way it ended. Amaranthine Voyage has not been a favorite series but I did enjoy the last game – Winter Neverending. The Burning Sky has a lot of potential but the demo was so short that I felt like I was just getting into the game when it ended. Even though the storyline initially seemed confusing, I love the concept of a once technologically advanced culture now living in a prehistoric world. Because there are some interesting puzzles and because I want to see how this storyline plays out I will definitely buy the full game. As always, I recommend you try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming.

You enter a world with prehistoric creatures and two rival tribes. A giant meteor threatens. Will the two tribes be able to cooperate to open the shelter, or will they literally devour each other?
I found the dinosaur theme to be a refreshing change. That said, this game is not exactly groundbreaking. Many of the all-too-familiar story elements and characters are still included (but no zipper pull). You also use a device called a kinetic beacon. However, I found the trial period interesting enough, although the way it ended was predictable and a little disappointing. Voices are well done and fit the characters. The music is very pleasant.
The colors are somewhat washed out and the scenes are a little flat but not hard on the eyes. The game play itself is pretty linear with very little backtracking. The puzzles are kind of interesting and simple and HOPs are fairly easy too. Usually these last two can make a game boring so I can understand those who feel that way. However I was not bored during the trial, perhaps because the story was different enough to hold my interest. Note: the HOPs to mini game ratio is 13 / 21.
CE extras: Thirty collectible dinosaur symbols (degree of difficulty about 6/10). Souvenir Room. Strategy Guide. Replay of HOPs and mini games. Pseudo extra stuff.
Since I enjoyed the trial I will recommend the game. And besides, where else can you ride a dinosaur! Three and a half stars for a light, refreshing frolic in dinosaur land. Be sure to finish before the meteor hits. Show less

Puzzles were new and interesting. I liked the variation of the HOPS.

Also, I'm not crazy about those ugly interactive HOPs. Although the flair and era is prehistoric (aka dinosaur-y), the puzzles and objects you interact with are pretty much technologically advanced. You get to collect in every scene frescoes of dinosaurs embedded in surfaces like stone. As for the puzzles, some are quite challenging but most, like in the bonus round the sliding pieces box, are just no fun at all. No point in even trying to "solve" some of them! So, overall, an "ok" game. Is it worthy of your free time? Only if you're out of options... Still, I'm gonna recommend it. Show less
