Definitely buy the CE because of the extras, or at least buy the SE.

There are some great reviews of the CE that describe the features better than I ever could, so I will explain the features that made this game a definite 5 star immediate buy for me as a CE.
First, the art is bright, clear and beautiful. I love looking at it.
Second, the Extras are a real selling point for the CE. You get the usual collectibles, a bonus chapter, achievements, replayable movies, and all the art and music. Best of all, you get replayable puzzles, and not just for this game. There are HOPs and minigames to replay from previous Final Cut games, also. You win them by finding candy canes and Christmas stockings.
Third, I got totally sucked into the world and ran out the demo without realizing how long I had been playing, even though the story is a little "whaaaat?" in places. Example: there is a place where a character tells you "you can't come in here," and then proceeds to watch you while you break into some object right in front of him. Didn't make sense. But I was still totally sucked in. The mark of a great game, that is!
So I recommend the CE. It is a bargain because of the extras that you get and because it is beautiful. But even if you don't want to shell out the money for the CE, try the SE. The game is really fun. Really. Show less

- Graphics: The graphics are great, good, detailed and prospectively drawn.
- Animation: It is quite good animated, not best in class, but good enough to have fun.
- Music: discreet and nice, not disturbing not too repetitive. Fitting background noises.
- Voices: good spoken, matching the characters
- Tools: you do have an interactive map and (sometimes) a projector
- Story: not new -> based on the older Final cut stories, but fascinating enough with some surprising turns.
- HO’s: there were nearly all known types of HO included. Really good done, sometimes interactive. Additional you can switch to match3.
- Challenge: The tasks were logical, so you can play w/o helping messages and don’t have to use hints or map a lot. There were quite different types of mini games – mostly not the catchiest at all, but definitely interesting. But for some few, I had to tax my brain. From my point of view, Final Cut is quite challenging.
- Locations: Usually you have to investigate 3-5 locations. You don’t have to go back. The items are spread about more locations, so it is a little more challenging.
- Length: Is decent. I needed nearly 5 hours for playing through. That’s fine for me.
Dislikes: none.
I do recommend this game for sure. It is challenging, has a proper length and high quality. Show less

I actually gasped when I found Bernard dead because I was already drawn into the story. It starts quick and you just hit the floor running. The artwork is fantastic and the character actors perfectly cast/drawn and compelling to watch. the HOG and puzzles are ones I’ve never quite seen before. The story moves along and is fast paced and interesting. I actually watched all the cut scenes – in a demo…I never do that. I’m intrigued with the story and plot – it’s awesome! I even read all the cards and listened to all the dialog. Like watching a fantastical film noir plot about movie studios with wickedly bad men, murder, conspiracy, a supernatural projector, and thank god, no crying children being abducted-so sick of that plot line. Hope this series goes on and on. Show less

The HO scenes were not junk piles and there's also the option to play Match 3. I really prefer games with many puzzles and a few of the ones in this game were quite challenging.
The map was very helpful for seeing locations with available tasks and quickly transporting between locations.
Overall I think it's a very enjoyable game and kept me entertained for hours. Show less

This game was fantastic! I played all the way to the end of the demo. I loved the opening sequence cinematic, it felt very unique and theatrical, which ended up being pretty fitting.
Everything throughout this game felt very suitable for the classy era, from the character designs to the HOP visuals. I liked how the story immediately gets you interested and unfolds as you go, instead of establishing a long backstory right at the beginning. Gameplay mechanics were similar to your usual HOP game, with the different difficulty levels and interactive objects in HOP scenes, though that's not a bad thing. The actual puzzles actually proved to be quite a challenge at times.
The only negative is that I noticed from the beginning that the visual quality for the cinematics and the rest of the game weren't very high definition, as though they weren't meant to be on my screen. It didn't end up mattering much, it just was my only real complaint.
Overall, a fantastic game! Show less

Funny how most of these types of games you go around picking up items from other peoples places like a klepto .

This may be a final Final Cut with a mind boggling Who-dun-it mystery as you are landed smack dab in the middle of Detective Bernard's ongoing investigation. Bernard got his hands upon the famous projector that has practically ruined the dysfunctional Wolf family, only this one's small and portable and is capable of changes anyone's appearance! What a perfect way to ruin your competition, Horizon Studios!
This edition of Final Cut isn't spectacular, perhaps it's just time to lay the story to rest and move on. I know many gamers love the golden hues with slightly grainy graphics to give the game a touch of reality and make it seem as if it were an older film. They have even attempted to use this to their advantage with some of the cutscenes with a deliberate film reel effect, but I prefer the crisp virtual reality of computer generated graphics. Many of the inventory items you collect will have plus signs indicating the need for further investigation, like combining that item with another. You are equipped with the Projector Camera that can be used to change your appearance temporarily to look like another person, which requires a simple mini game of focusing the camera and then outlining key focal points. (can I change my appearance to look like thing other than people?) The Collector's Edition has 41 Collectible Signs that actually look like a face, Several Achievements to earn, and even collectible Candy Canes and Christmas Stockings which unlock HOP's and Puzzles from Final Cut: Homage CE and Final Cut: Fame Fatale CE.
The Hidden Object Scenes are fairly decent, some of which have a Morphing Object to find within. There are Multiple's of objects, Silhouetted Shape finds, Interactive List finds, and items to find that will give you an item that is used to unlock the texted list finds, there are even HOP's where you find items that match the descriptive riddles given. You can switch to a Match 3 game if you're not into Hidden Object Puzzles.
The Mini Games were simple, and easy to solve, below is a list with brief descriptions of some of the puzzles you will come across in the demo:
1) Arrange cards so they match the photos shown on an evidence board, using the color coded pins as a reference.
2) Focusing a camera lens and outlining a face in a single line that doesn't overlap.
3) Press directional arrows to move a ball from one magnet to another until it reaches the indicated hole.
The Collector's Edition has 16 Morphing Objects within the HOP's, 18 replayable Puzzles, Collectible Christmas Stockings that unlock additional Puzzles from Fame Fatale CE, a Souvenir Room, 17 replayable HOP's, Collectible Candy Canes that unlock additional HOP's from Homage CE, 41 Collectible hidden Signs, 5 Music Soundtracks, 12 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 16 Videos, a Tribute Video, 15 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! * Also, I thought there were too many cut scenes, & there is no way you can stop/skip, them, so your game play is basically paused until they are done.
If these things don't bother you, then I think you will really enjoy this game.

I liked the depth of the scenes in the city. The train and club scenes were good too! The graphics and details included were superb. Somehow, this story kept me involved to begin with and for some time afterwards. I liked everything about it. The shady characters/gangsters were done well, and gave off an aura of fearlessness and coolness - there was nothing crude or comedic about them (which was great!). Great sounds throughout too! However, the unique feel slowly ebbs away and by the time there was only a 1/3 left I was eager for the end. For puzzle fans - a lot of the puzzles are not easy/medium; for me they were tough!
HOPS – 10- 12- There were at least 3 HOPS which were cakes, n other food stuffs. Love them! Why? I don't know! Just looks good enough to...eat!!! They also go the tools route. I did take a look at the alternative match-3 game, and decided the HOPS was the more fun one.
PUZZLES: Many are not easy! All skippable.
SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: TRAVEL
JOURNAL: NONE. BUT you get other stuff.
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 4 interchangeable
HINT: Guides and leads you.
INVENTORY - lockable
CHARACTERS: The characters look almost like real people, and are done well!
