An excellent English side yarn until the end

It's not a perfect game, but comes pretty darn close.

Artwork is top notch, high definition, with lots of greenery and flowers to balance out a haunted English countryside. Most of the characters are well drawn except for the Inspector who makes a reprise from a previous installment.

Voice overs are good and matches the character.

Artwork is top notch, high definition, with lots of greenery and flowers to balance out a haunted English countryside. Most of the characters are well drawn except for the Inspector who makes a reprise from a previous installment.

Voice overs are good and matches the character.

The few gripes I have are the explanatory notes that occur as you progress are a bit fast--I must be a slow reader (from enjoying and lingering over the artwork) and would have preferred to control the appearance and disappearance of the narrative in between scenes.

Mini games are mostly easy, except the very last one, which ends the story.

The storyline is easy to follow and plausible (if you think along the lines of a vengeful ghost). I do think the husband accepts the psychic's explanation way too readily, and that was a bit far fetched and could have been drawn out a bit for dramatic effect, but would have made for a tad bit longer game. Finally, the ending is way too abrupt. It ends neatly, but way too neatly, as if the devs wanted to save any extra work for the CE bonus chapter.

Despite the flaws mentioned above, this is a fantastic game to meander through. I did not want the game to end, having enjoyed the scenery so much.

You have a helper in the form of a ghost easily bribed by a good drink, the alcoholic kind, and his help/hint is needed several times in the game, so be on the look-out for a bottle of whiskey, rum, and the like.

A thoroughly enjoyable game to play. Give it a try and see if you agree. Show less

How I MISS Vendel games!!!!!!! Passed this one by when it first came out so years later I'm playing it and am so impressed with the CRISP clear beautiful graphics, the amount of likeable characters I'm meeting and especially the WONDERFUL hidden objects (my favorite). Cute storyline. I'm actually enjoying it more than recent 2020 games. We need to get more studios back like Vendel.

First of all, the game moves at a snail's pace, and secondly, the Collector's Edition lacks the extras that come along with the additional price. If you must have this game, this Standard Edition is the one you should opt for.

James Barton has retired from the police force and is now the proud owner of the famous Red Dragon Pub. The locals all know that this pub is haunted, and have dubbed one harmless spirit, Florry. Today however, things have changed, and Florry is no longer a harmless spirit, she's angry and revengeful! Revengeful spirits are bad for business, so James has asked his longtime friend, Brenda Gale to investigate his pub and find out why Florry is in a Fury!

My favorite part of this game is my partner in crime, Oscar Quincy, one of the Pub's frequent flyer ghosts who has a passion for punch, mixed with alcohol, lot's of alcohol. In fact he requires a drink to wet his whistle quite often, but he's the life of the party, well, technically he's not alive, but he's still pretty funny. In my opinion, Quincy is this game's saving grace, the graphics are hand drawn, giving the game a cartoonish fake appearance at times. Spirit of Revenge: The Cursed Castle (2014) Elizabeth's Secret and Gem Fury (2015) all have remarkable graphics that are far superior to the graphics in Florry's Well, and for the life of me, I can't understand why they cut corners and decided hand drawn graphics would work in this genre. Save those type of graphics for fairytales and keep computer generated graphics in this genre! The Spirit of Revenge Collector's Edition's have always had worthy extras, but the CE in this game doesn't even offer Achievements which are usually a staple item in a CE. Other than a handful of pictures, this game really only offers 44 Morphing Objects that give you an extra hint for each one found. Again in my opinion, this Standard Edition is the route to go.

The Hidden Object Scenes are actually quite decent, although almost all of them are the same type. Most HOP's are Interactive, Progressive Silhouetted Shape Puzzles where you find the first item that matches the silhouetted shape shown, and then use that item interactively back in the scene to expose the next item and they usually have some type of puzzle to solve such as balancing weight scales using various sized weights. There are also HOP's that are more like Mini Games where you interact with the scene to find ghosts, or find missing fragments.

The Mini Games are fairly easy and can be solved without much frustration. Below are some of the games you'll encounter during the demo, and a few that you'll come across after the demo:

1) Wake the cashier by fixing the clock and setting the correct time. First place gears correctly and then set the clock using various time increment buttons.

2) Select and enter the correct Bus Route number and then insert the correct amount of money.

3) Find Missing fragments and assemble the stone pattern.

4) Plant flowers to look like the picture shown.

5) Repair the symbol by rotating the pieces selected. Rotate, click and drag to the correct positions.

6) Assemble the image by swapping books one space at a time.

7) Match the couples according to their preferences, such as eye color or facial features.

The Collector's Edition has 17 VG team pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 16 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art Pictures, 44 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy! Show less

The graphics are beautiful and hand drawn but the voice overs are a bit iffy with some very American accents for a game that takes place in England. What I absolutely hate about this game is the very clunky user interface area that has ghostly hands and a blue vapor that surrounds the inventory. The interface seemed quite unfriendly and at times non-responsive as well as overly large and, as a result, quite annoying. If the game had not intrigued me I would have skipped this one simply because of the clunky interface. There is a custom mode of gameplay but it seems rather pointless because there are not many options available to “customize”.

Your tools include an interactive map and there is a journal of sorts where information is stored. Well in a change from animal helpers we now have a ghost who is somewhat of a boozer and at times hysterically funny. As one would expect, we will periodically need to ply him with various “spirits” before he will help.

The HOPS are very creative and well designed. Although the HOPS are nothing new they are quite clever and some require several steps in order to receive the item you will need to progress in the game. The puzzles are excellent and a bit different than those we normally see. I particularly enjoyed the one where we needed to purchase a bus ticket. Some puzzles are tricky but not so challenging that they proved frustrating. What I look for in puzzles is entertainment value rather than-over-the top challenge that drives me crazy.

Aside from the very unfriendly user interface area I love the game. The storyline is excellent as we bring peace to this particular unhappy spirit. The HOPS and puzzles are what make the game quite fun and entertaining – at least for me. Although some think the game is short, it really depends on how fast you play. I tend to play slowly and take the time to gawk at all the scenery and special effects, which are wonderful in Spirit of Revenge Florry’s Well. Even though I love this game, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. Show less

Not sure why all the mediocre reviews but I liked this game. I have a couple of others in the series and liked this one the best.
Nice storyline, good game play. A deal with the special today.

I loved the game with the happy ghost and the beautiful scenery but it took me 2 hours to finish it.
That is too disapointing.

Recommend the game? Only to those that do not mind for so short games.

i didn't like this one as much. i had to go to the walk through guide a few times to finish it. i played on the custom level. i got confused because i kept being taken back and forth with the skip and hint button. it wasn't very plain most times. didn't enjoy it as much others i have played.

I'm not a big fan of having little talking animal helpers in my games. So, when I saw I would have a ghost helper, I thought I'd give Florry's Well a shot. Bad move on my part.

First let me say that the graphics were fair as I really don't care for hand drawn art when it comes to HOPA games. However, the sound effects and music were fine as were the voiceovers. The storyline started out okay but then I had two issues.

To start with, the ghost helper was useless. I had to bribe him to help me so I had to waste my time finding booze for him. Problem was -- he really didn't help me with anything I couldn't do myself. And honestly, I dislike dealing with drunks in the real world, so I found this feature in the game annoying.

My biggest gripe about Florry's Well was that an item totally disappeared from my inventory and I couldn't finish the game. This happened after a few hours of gameplay so I let BFG know the issue immediately. They must be aware of the issue because they gave me my money back immediately.

I see there are only a few reviews for this game, so it's very possible others had the same problem I did. Show less

I really like Big Fish and the other Spirit of Revenge Games. I was extremely disappointed in this game and the message it sends. It does in my opinion romanticize domestic violence. I can't believe no one at the creators office saw this as a problem. It must be how inundated we all are with this misogynistic culture.
