Philip Drake struck gold when he discovered a clean viable energy source in the Caribbean Sea, he also discovered something far more valuable than the energy source. H.E.L.P has been asked to travel to Costa Rica to meet with Mr. Drake to piece together the clues of an ancient civilization, known as Digui. It is believed that the tribe somehow angered the gods, so they sent their children to find a better world in which to live. Fearing for their safety, and unsure of their success, the elders designed a device that would allow them to return to their home, that once was Paradise. Word spread quickly, and protestor's have engulfed Mr. Drake's estate, demanding what they believe to be rightfully theirs. You and your partner Sam, are once again thrown into a dangerous mission, and you may not make it out alive!

I'm still a little upset that Sam received a promotion, why does he get paid the big bucks to do absolutely nothing? Seriously, he's dressed as if this is a vacation, and simply makes himself at home once inside Mr. Drake's home. I'm surprised he hasn't kicked off his shoes and popped a cold one, he might as well because so far, I'm doing all the work. He can't even manage to keep himself from getting held hostage, AGAIN, didn't this same scenario just happen in the last episode? I'll just look at the bright side, at least the weather's nice and I get to search for cute lizards, which btw, is so much better than finding those stupid Hidden Signs, don't you agree? They may have replaced the Hidden Signs with Hidden Lizards, but we still have to lug around that huge bulky H.E.L.P box so we can collect a few Fact Cards to brush up on our knowledge of wind, water and solar energy. Has anyone from this agency ever heard of a smartphone and G.O.O.G.L.E?

The Hidden Object Scenes are the traditional Hidden Expedition style HOP's. They are usually layered with different types, such as Interactive List finds, Multiple finds and one of my personal favorites, Silhouetted Shape Combinations. This is where you are given several items to find that will match the item that two different Silhouetted Shapes combined will logically match. An example would be a silhouette of a person and a silhouette of a fish would logically match a pair of swimming flippers. In this Collector's Edition, each HOP has a Morphing Object, a feature I love, but loathe when they are only in the HOP's.

The Mini Games are decent, some of which come in 3 parts. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Toggle the blank tiles to choose the correct symbols so that each power button can energize the lightning tiles. fans send lightning in one direction, wind sends it left or right etc.

2) Rotate molecules and place them in their matching positions.

3) Use the chart to unlock the briefcase by choosing the numbers that intersect in the clues row and column.

4) Move symbols through the maze to the bottom three spots.

5) Drag the tiles which share 2 adjacent symbols with the middle tile onto it.

6) Select a sphere and place it on the right coordinates on the map.

7) Connect the dots via drag and drop so that the lines intersect in the same spot, each dot can only be connected to one other dot at a time.

This Collector's Edition has 13 replayable Videos, 8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art Pictures, 13 Music Soundtracks, a Souvenir Room, 12 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 17 replayable Mini Games, 38 Hidden Lizards, 18 Achievements to earn, 12 Morphing Objects within the HOP's, Collectible Fact Cards, a built in Strategy Guides, and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

While I'm not one to go into details these days when it comes to reviewing games, I must say I am very impressed with this one so far! Like the prior versions of Hidden Expedition, the graphics are nice, the storyline is interesting, and the explorations are fun, too. I highly recommend you try this game if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed!

I loved the demo of this game. I think it's probably even better than the last installment of the Hidden Expedition series. An artifact that holds the key to the location of an underwater paradise is found and then stolen from the H.E.L.P. team. They have the coordinates but the demo leaves you wanting. It's an exciting combination of the team racing against time to follow all the clues and get there before someone else. Great fun that is challenging and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The storyline is the best part and believable. I'm grateful that the HOPs and mini-games were relevant to the story. The music crescendo's at the right time making this a great game that holds your interest. I recommend it to all players. Thanks, Mia. Show less

I'm not really into Christmas-themed games, so this game was a pleasant alternative to the recent crowd of sentimental Christmas offerings. A solid adventure game with HOPs, an interesting story and well-functioning map and gameplay.

OVERVIEW: Agent – You are off to spend your Christmas on the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica in an exciting 5-star adventure! H.E.L.P. is back along with Agent Sam, who is all decked out in some new chic beachwear. Travel to the waters off the coast of Costa Rica to investigate an artifact tied to an ancient underwater civilization, Lost Paradise. Finding this lost civilization lies with locating petrospheres which hold the key to restoring the map to reveal the location of this lost kingdom.
This is a decent adventure game which is perfect for intermediate and expert gamers. However, I do feel beginning players would enjoy it as well by skipping some of the puzzles and just concentrating on the excellent HOP scenes, collectibles, and engaging action-packed story. The story is based on the legend of the petrospheres of the Diquis Delta of Costa Rica. The graphics are phenomenal and provide a bright, sunny, beautifully illustrated tropical environment for those faced with some unpleasant frigid weather. There are an equal number of puzzles and HOP scenes and both are creatively designed. You collect fact cards and lizards.
The only negative I find in the game is the pace. At times, the pace tends to get bogged down throughout the game. There needs to be more activities in this game. However, this game is an improvement for EIPIX from last week’s Myths of the World offering. I like this game; however, I do not LOVE this game. For this reason, I will purchase this game as an SE.
HOP SCENES: They are creatively designed. They include a "locate and replace" scene. There are two multiple-step scenes. In one there is a list of items followed by rebus clues. In the other multiple-step HOP scene there is a list of items followed by silhouette items.
PUZZLES: The best part of this game are the puzzles. They are thematic and creatively designed. However, again, there are not enough of them to keep up the pace in the game. The puzzles are more challenging than in many other of this developer’s games; however, they are not over-challenging. Some of them are scientific in nature. There is a connection puzzle in which you connect a series of energy icons on a grid. There is also a slider puzzle involving molecules and a maze puzzle in which you create a path for 3 tokens.
RUBE-GOLDBERG PUZZLE (Super puzzle). I feel this puzzle is the best part of the demo. The first two puzzles are unique matching puzzles involving hieroglyphs. The third puzzle involves connecting the dots, so to speak.
LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom

Based on the completed game & bonus chapter: My actual rating for this CE is 4.5 stars, as there was a "blind maze" mini-game in the main I thought poorly done, as well as a couple other mini-games that required clicking & dragging w/ the mouse which I found a bit clunky to play. Other than that, this game was a pure pleasure for me. HOPs are varied, including lists, silhouettes, progressive, & interactive; many are multilayered, 12 include morphs, & some include a mini-game. Also, these are some of the very best HOPs I've seen, in terms of using appropriate, as opposed to random, items. The selection of mini-games, w/ the exception of the blind maze, is excellent, & covers the spectrum in terms of degree of difficulty. There's one in particular that I can only describe as being somewhat akin to Sudoku which required getting pen & paper & drawing a grid for me to solve it, which, for me, was a real treat, as one hardly ever has to go to that length to solve a mini-game any more these days. The graphics are among the best I've seen, & I thoroughly enjoyed the locations visited in this game. Also, I had thought the game would end shortly after arriving at the Lost Paradise, but there was still about an hours' worth of play left at that point. The collectibles are the same in shape, but the color varies, & some are found in very unexpected places. The bonus chapter takes us back in time, where our PC (player character) is a man this time. My play time for the main game was roughly 4.5 hours, & for the bonus, 1 hour. Finally, the Souvenir Room in this game turned out to be a real treat, as it was done differently from any of the others I've seen, & to a different end result. I got this game less than a week ago, I've already played the whole lot (including the SR) twice, & will probably do so again in the relatively near future, because I enjoyed it just that much. So it goes w/o saying, I highly recommend doing the demo, & seeing what you think. Happy gaming, all. :) Show less

Hidden Expedition: The Lost Paradise is now the thirteenth game in this classic HOPA series, and it seems like the developer still has a few tricks up their sleeves. First of all, the landscapes and sceneries in this installment is mesmerizing; filled with exotic locations and interestingly-designed themes. It is definitely a plus that this is accompanied by an engaging story, that might not be totally unique, but contains enough exciting twists and turns to make us want to know more. Additionally, the production team did a great job with the sights and sounds. As mentioned, the scenes in Hidden Expedition: The Lost Paradise are fascinating to look at and the colorful and crisp graphics only take that point further. Music wise, the Cuban vibe is spot-on and carries the mood of the game very well. Besides, the voice-overs are equally impressive. Hidden Expedition: The Lost Paradise is definitely not here to revolutionize the genre, as most of the time, the game is pretty predictable. Frequent HOPA players will likely find the adventure part of the game to be fairly simple, but not the same can be said about the hidden object scenes and the puzzles. The hidden object scenes are almost always multi-layered, and at times very innovative. The puzzles are more challenging, and they are smartly integrated into the storyline.
I played Hidden Expedition: The Lost Paradise on the easiest difficulty mode, rarely skipped any puzzles, and completed the game in around 4.5 hours. We highly recommend the Collector’s Edition as it comes ready with tons of bonuses; a bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpapers, videos, concept art, soundtracks, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, a souvenir room, re-playable hidden objects, and re-playable puzzles. If you are new this series I recommend collecting all of them.
