If this had been a typical brick breaking game - even something "somewhat" out of the box - it might have worked. This? Not so much.

If this had been a typical brick breaking game - even something "somewhat" out of the box - it might have worked. This? Not so much.
Storyline:
Disappointed. When I do a "Quest", I expect there to be an ongoing storyline. Not a whole chapter between levels, but a line or two as you progress would make sense. In this game, on Quest level, Uurooluu (sp?) the great owl does something, the land is fruitful and happy and then everything turns to sand and rust and shadows of itself.
Graphics:
In this day and age, for the graphics to be so poor is inexcusable, even if you are an up and coming developer. With a little more time and energy, this game's graphics could have been really something,
Sound:
I didn't get the background music that consisted of drum beats and something that sounded that periodic bursts of "huh". Was it supposed to be representative of the stone age? Cave men? What? Sound effects were too loud, even when I turned the volume down in "Options".
Game Play:
Something I've NEVER done before. I'm going to break this down into 3 areas.
Things I Understood:
As in any brick breaking game, you have before you a scene (in this case, I believe it was supposed to be temples) and you shoot a ball and try to destroy the scene without losing all your lives. You gain bonuses as they fall from breaking bricks and you catch them with your "paddle" at the bottom of the screen.
Things I Didn't Understand:
It seemed, at one point, when I added my name in profiles and then chose "Quest", I can to a blank screen with the entire border full of "objects". Was I supposed to build my own "story"? Was I supposed to build my own scene? No instruction anywhere. Then I chose a name already listed - Lands of Lore I believe - and a scene showed up. I chose an avatar but was also supposed to choose a "ship"? I don't know because once I chose the avatar it went right to the "play" option. I just didn't understand what was going on.
Things I Disliked:
Aside from not having ANY instructions at all, which is stupid (I hate that word) because EVERY game, brick breaking, HOG, Adventure, I don't care, has it's own nuances. There should be SOME instruction. And why did the ball be so dark in color it almost blended into the background? And what was the "tail" about? I've seen that in other games when you get a bonus and the ball does something special, but in this game, there is a perpetual meteor-like tail that is so distracting you can't concentrate on the game. Also, I've never started in level 1 and had the ball go so fast. Yes, if a bonus caused it and yes, after I leveled up a few times.
For all the above reasons, this Glam-ma is not only passing on this game - I am running for the hills to play one of several other games of this type I own from the BF site. I cannot in good conscience encourage anyone to try this game. Regardless of the free demo and the very long hour of play.
This game had a lot of potential. Instead of having a good time? My axle broke. Show less
I don't recommend this game.
