I almost didn't try the game due to the overall rating. But, I liked the past Nevertales games and thought I'd use a PCC for this one. Not disappointed at all. I play games mainly for the adventure and storyline. This had both in my opinion. Loved it! Will play it again, for sure.
I recommend this game!

A very good game! I haven’t been much of a Nevertales fan, but this game had enough glorious details in several scenes, a story-line that didn’t struggle, and interesting-enough characters, that I enjoyed the whole thing!

I play this sort of game for relaxation and this one I found to be quite enjoyable.
Nice graphics, as others have said. Fairly easy on the eyes.
I mute the music, so cannot comment on that.
Puzzles so far, have made sense. Cannot stand puzzles that have poor instructions or make no sense.

Storyline is fine. I'm not expecting an epic novel. It's a game! As long as it's not another dark and morbid storyline, I'm good.
There is a bit of back and forth, but it's not totally excessive and there is a map.
Reasonable length. I know I'm unusual in that I don't want a game to go on and on and on . . . and then blast you with a billion hidden object searches at the end!
I have several others in the Series and find this one just as enjoyable as the others.
I too, almost didn't give it a try due to poor reviews. Glad I did. Give it try, you might be happily surprised, as I was. Show less

I really enjoyed the hidden objects and puzzles. In the hidden objects you either had to match two alike objects, or find them and then use then to find another or make something. The graphics are quite good.

This is the 7th edition in the Nevertales series. Though the series remains popular, Fans give mixed reviews, ranging from (Average to Awesome) which shed's some light on why I gave this game a 3 star rating. In this prequel episode your father, Godfrey Lane, was a prominent writer until one day he just disappears without a trace. Years later, you discovered the entrance to the Taleworld, a magical world of imagination created by your father. Can you find your father and escape from this fantasy world before you are also trapped inside? Nevertales: Creator’s Spark brings some of the magic back to the Nevertales series. Even though the storyline does not divert much from the overused “parallel worlds” narrative and the so-called “twists” are pretty much expected, the fantasy world presented in this game is filled with fascinating elements and is worth exploring. Not only that, but each of the characters is also richly-developed and does not just merely feels like an accessory to the game. As a long-time fan of the series, I found the gameplay of Nevertales: Creator’s Spark to be a tad too easy for advanced players but great for beginners. The adventure part is mainly straightforward with the usual inventory items and a plethora of weirdly-shaped locks. The hidden object scenes and the puzzles are also low in challenge, although this does not discount the fact that they are smartly-integrated into the storyline and are quite entertaining in general. Mad Head Games is one of my favorite HOPA developers, especially when it comes to the production. I had high expectations for this edition but was left slightly disappointed. That said, I was still blown away by the sights and sounds in Nevertales: Creator’s Spark. The visuals are some of the studios’ very best works; the artwork is extremely sophisticated, the colors are lively and stunning, the effects are breathtaking, and level of artistic expertise is simply outstanding. Similarly, the background music is beautifully composed and serves as an effective mood-setting device. The voice-acting is always on-point and conveys the emotional layers of the characters extremely well just like all the installments of this series. I played the CE version but in retrospect I honestly should have waited for the SE version and used a free game coupon because of the low difficulty level. Nevertales: Creator’s Spark takes roughly four-five hours to complete. The CE bonus chapter isn't revolutionary but provides a new perspective and should take most veteran players around 50 minutes to complete. The Collector’s Edition comes with all the expected bling; a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, avatars, cover pictures, re-playable hidden object scenes, achievements, those always present triangular pinwheel collectibles, and morphing objects. I remain a fan of the series and am optimistic about future installments. Perhaps the next one will be increasingly intriguing and more of a challenge to play? Cheers! Show less

LONGER, MORE DETAILED REVIEW
I gave the CE 3-1/2 stars, but got further into the game in the SE since I didn't have to bother looking for collectibles. This review amends my CE review.
The storyline originally promised a great adventure full of intrigue and danger, as well as discovering the origins of Taleworld. None of these promises was fulfilled. Despite the urgency the plot conveyed, gameplay was slow and plodding and consisted of quite a bit of illogical MacGyvering that seemed to have no purpose, other than prompting the next HO scene or puzzle.
The HO scenes' presentation was classic Madhead, but they did make an effort to hide some of the objects. Honestly, I would trade the fancy presentations for a straight list of well-hidden objects like the scenes in Ravenhearst.
The puzzles included variations on jigsaws, matching pairs, find the differences, swap the tokens, and others that we've seen a zillion times. I did enjoy playing Connect-4, though, and would love to see more interesting puzzles like that one. I'm tired of playing the same puzzles in every single game that's released…it's boring.
Beautiful production all around, including graphics, animation, music, sound, and voiceovers. Nothing to fault here. I wish some of this effort was put into the actual gameplay. It's time that devs realized we'd rather have three or four epic games a year than two dozen cookie cutter games…and they'd make more money. It's noticeable that there used to be more than 200 reviews for each game, and now, there are only a couple dozen.
I listed the games in this series in my CE review, so I'll briefly list what I feel are far better games by Madhead:
Beyond: Light Advent (2015), Cadenza: Music Betrayal & Death (2014), Dawn of Hope: Skyline Adventure (2016). The Dark Realm (2014-18) and Maze (2015-17) series. The Nevertales (2013-18) series (except for Smoke & Mirrors). The Rite of Passage (2012-17) series (except for The Lost Tides and Heart of the Storm).

Mad Head Games has always been one of my favorite developers because their games are usually current and relevant, and with the exception of a few games within the series they offer, their games have very interesting storylines. This is one of the exceptions however that just didn't thrill me. The graphics are bright and very colorful, I must admit, but I wasn't keen on the story, which is just a personal preference, so you really should give this game a try, because you may very well love this latest Nevertales addition! Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
It's time once again to enter the magical world of Tales, worlds created by the stories written in the real world. Through his books, Godfrey Lane has created a Taleworld filled with Warlocks and Sorceresses, Spells and Curses, Talking Animals, and Powerful Mythical Weapons! One fateful day, Godfrey discovered his Taleworld by sheer chance, when a magical Portal appeared out of nowhere. Godfrey Lane had penned some very imaginative books over the years, but he never imagined he'd become trapped in his own worldly creation, leaving his beautiful baby girl, to grow up without a father! Godfrey's only hope now, lies within the "Spark" the Creator's Spark, this Taleworld's only source of magic!
The Hidden Object Puzzles are varied with Keywords in Sentences, Multiple finds, finding 4 Plates to open an Interactive List find (moves the object to expose puzzle fragments) as well as Zoom Zone HOP's to find Multiple tokens. In the Collector's Edition version, each of the 17 Hidden Object Puzzles has a Morphing Object to find, but there isn't an alternative type of puzzle offered. In the CE version, you can re-play 17 HOP's, and see the stats for each one including the time it took to complete, the % accuracy, your highest score and whether or not you have found the Morph.
The Mini Games are really a little too easy, I'd just personally prefer them to be a bit more challenging, but they aren't horrible games. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Flip the sphere to find matching pairs of tiles.
2) Drop tokens into column slots to aligning 4 tokens in a row.
3) Swap tiles to create the symbol shown in the upper left side.
4) Match pairs of symbols to connect a non-intersecting line
5) Swap pie tile sections to complete the image. (HOP puzzle)
6) Rearrange statue parts to match its mirror reflection.
The Collector's Edition has 4 Wallpapers, 2 Concept Art pictures, 10 Music Soundtracks, 10 Cover Pictures (cover pictures from Nevertales titles) Scrapbook (pictures of heroes and villain dev cartoon avatars) 36 Profile Icons, 17 re-playable Hidden Object Puzzles, 11 Achievements to earn, 31 collectible Story Memento's, 31 hidden Mad Head Games Spirals, 17 Morphing Objects within the HOP's, 5 Chapters + Bonus Chapter and a built in Strategy Guide, happy gaming!

Mad Head Games Devs are awesome, no doubt. This game is esthetically one of the most stunning of all time, in my opinion. The graphics are incredibly vibrant, colorful, and the objects that we must find are unique. A lot of attention to detail went into this scientific and engineering platform of this game. Incredible and tedious on the devs' parts for sure. So, bravo to the devs on those points.
The music and special effects/sound effects are amazing. The characters and voice overs are outstanding. Lots of expression and the voices pretty much fit the characters.
The strategy is a bit off from time to time. Also, I would click on an object to complete the task and would then have to repeat the action more than twice. I'm growing weary of collecting some of the mechanical parts to retrieve, intricate as they are, a wrench and more keys. Redundant! But most games are no different in that area. The puzzles/mini-games are easy; my favorite part though is the interactive HOPS.
The storyline is okay, daughter searches for daddy, blah, blah, blah. Cyrus is a power monger. Sparks will fly! So what's new about that? I'm nearing the end of this game and I'm not the least bit sorry that I bought it, though. It's just that retrieving those objects are getting more ho-hum to me as I venture on. Oh, in one of the scripts/text, a word was left out as follows: "My magic is almost depleted. I must to my daughter Gaia." A word is missing after 'must.' I realize not all folks read the script but I do and more attention to the editing is needed in all games, to be honest.
I'm rating this game 3-1/2 stars. The best parts are the graphics and voice-overs and HOPS. I do like the Nevertales series and always will. This game is no exception. So either try it or buy it; that's what I recommend. Show less
