I really love the pictures in this World Tour game. Coming from Africa, I knew it would have some colorfully dressed people, beautiful scenery and some wonderful animals...I was right! Really relaxing and enjoyable to play. My only complaint is, they don't let you look at the picture you just put together very long!
Also, I like my puzzle pieces to look like the normal jigsaw pieces I've enjoyed all my life, so I don't use the option to stretch the pieces. I don't want to spin my pieces around, either, so I use the option to make them stick to the table...that keeps them from being upside down or sideways.
All in all, I think this is a great set of puzzles and I'm sure you'll agree! :) Show less

Lots and lots of beautiful puzzles, but most don't have anything to do with Africa. I would have called it "1001 Jigsaw Tropics". Though it has several categories the contents are totally random. To up the educational level it would have been nice to have info about each one, but of course then we would know they weren't all African. While I like the pictures of flowers, fruit, landscapes and animals, I don't care for the pictures of people and don't want to spend time assembling a puzzle of a complete stranger.
I felt that the maximum number of pieces (around 300, depending on the puzzle) is sufficient for me, as puzzles with a higher number of pieces tends to strain my eyes.
I happen to really like this platform, especially the music, shape variety and features such as the border and magnifier tools. I just wish that 8 Floor would put out a puzzle game that has these same features, but allows us to upload our own pictures. I have tried other puzzle games that allow you to upload pictures, but they are not the same and are not as fun, as they don't allow for a variety of shapes within a puzzle (unless you distort them in a weird way), have no music and no border feature. The problem with this particular one in the series is the images. There are some incorrect animals, very few people native to Africa, a lot that represent travel/vacation only in general, and many pictures that have little or nothing to do with Africa in particular. As I mentioned already, the gameplay is solid, but don't expect much actual Africa. Show less

I keep hoping the next one will be better, but for me it never happens with this dev. Africa should have been much more than what was presented here. Quite disappointing!

When I think of Africa or watch documentaries, I don't see hamsters with silly little hats, polar bears and pandas, home-baked pies, scenes that look like our Western U.S. deserts and models wearing beaded necklaces or dressed like a Native American Indian. As usual there is an abundance of staged pics of food and flowers.
There are some pics of sea life and animals, and beautiful birds, but nothing out of the ordinary. Though very lovely, they just don't interest me enough. The scenery looks more typical of the United States. I was expecting to find jungle scenes with animals and flowers in their natural habitat, a bush animal laying in the shade of a lone tree, animals gathered round a drinking hole, a Native village, a display of African garments and jewelry. You know, stuff like that ! Not all town/resort type shots.
I am certain this newest offering of puzzles from 8Floor will be a pure delight for so many puzzle lovers. But just not for this old puzzle geek who is always looking for "more."
I recommend this one because there are some very nice puzzles that you will love, if you are not as picky-picky as me!
God Bless.... Show less

How many puzzle games are in this series, 1001? By now surely everyone knows the routine, same music, same useless features, same tools, and the same pictures that have just been recirculated from the different puzzles they offer. I guess they think that what's good for one is good for all?

Once you finish the puzzle you get to see a brief glimpse of the picture before it disappears forever, it's so brief that if you blink you will miss it! You can't save them as screensavers, you can't even revisit them in a gallery, but that shouldn't be a big shock, because these puzzles never have any cool or interesting option features. As long as they continue to spew out these games without making an attempt to offer features that avid puzzle geeks want, I will continue to ask for more, but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to say what features I'd like to see them change, so I guess they'll never be able to know what needs to be changed or be added.
1001 Jigsaw World Tour: Africa, you can choose puzzles from 5 different boxes (Customs, Vacation, Discovery, Tourism, Nature) that have 100 puzzles available in each. You can also earn Trophies for reaching goals such as playing a certain amount of hours, joining up to a million pieces, scoring a certain amount of points, solving a puzzle without making a mistake, solving variously sized puzzles, or solving a puzzle without using hints, sorting, or pocket features. There are also Top Scores and personal Best score tallies.
Any of the puzzles can be modified with the number of pieces, the cut shape of the pieces and whether or not you want the pieces to rotate. There are 4 different backgrounds to choose from, pink, green, blue and grey, a box to store extra pieces until needed, a Sort option a Border only option, a Hint option, and an available Magnifying glass to enlarge pieces. You can also Ghost the image of the puzzle to the background or hang a picture in three different sizes.
The problem is that these are the EXACT same features that they offer in all of their puzzle games. I guess they will just have to use esp to know what puzzle fans would like to see changed in their games?
