I'm happy to see this game at Big Fish. I had played the demo on another site and really enjoyed it. Just to be certain nothing had changed with it being released by Big Fish, I played the demo here, as well. I'm happy to see this game at Big Fish. I had played the demo on another site and really enjoyed it. Just to be certain nothing had changed with it being released by Big Fish, I played the demo here, as well. I had absolutely no problem downloading or playing (I play on a Dell Studio XPS 8100 desktop with Windows 10 Professional 64 bit). The action is very smooth and quick, lots of color and explosions (I adjust the sound volume in the options to keep it from shaking the walls) with the requisite sound effects. The music is energetic and appropriate.

You are tasked with collecting energy from runes or scoring a certain number of points and, occasionally, doing an extra task like feeding the "toad" who sits alongside the right border of the board. You are not really penalized if you do not complete the extra tasks, you simply don't get the extra points. You will collect coins along the way for completing levels and after most levels, an assortment of power-ups is displayed to be bought or, if you already own one, it can be sold to reclaim those coins to use for something else. (Those who have played any of the Montezuma's Treasures games will be familiar with this system.)

I had a lot of fun trying it out and have purchased it. Try it; you just may like it! Show less

I just got around to playing Rune Lord today, and after 2 harrowing levels, I knew I had to have it! There are 3 modes of difficulty to choose, a Casual Mode which is NOT untimed, however, it is very doable with easier goals to achieve. I just got around to playing Rune Lord today, and after 2 harrowing levels, I knew I had to have it! There are 3 modes of difficulty to choose, a Casual Mode which is NOT untimed, however, it is very doable with easier goals to achieve. The Advanced Mode is fairly fast-paced and challenging, the Hardcore Mode becomes available after you complete the game in the Advanced Mode, which surely has to be wicked challenging considering how challenging the Advanced levels are...but I for one, love the challenge, the graphics and the features offered.

The goal for each level is to collect specific amounts of the Stones with Energy (indicated by a glowing symbol) in a Swap type Match 3 game with Limited Time. Some of the levels offer an additional Task to receive an extra Coin, such as dropping Spiders down to a specific row to feed the toad, or raising and lowering a Coin by making matches of specific colored Rune Stones.

Large Matches of 4 or more will give you Bonuses on the board that must be included in the same color match:

*Rune of Fire-destroys 5 adjacent runes.
*Yellow Booster-gives you extra points.
*Rune of Lightning-zaps 7 matching runes on the board.
*Add 1 Magic Rune-adds a magic rune of a specific color.
*Bombs-color specific

Spells can be purchased and upgraded with the Coin you earn for completing each level (2 coins if additional task requirements are met) Spells are automatically cast once the Sphere is filled with filled with the same color of stones, and upgrades usually increase the chance of getting boosters or that they will take out specific runes:

*Red Spell-sends a Meteor Shower that destroys 5 Runes.
*Green Spell-adds 5 seconds to the timer.
*Blue Spell-collects 3 magic runes.
*Azure Spell-changes the color of random runes.

Rune Lord is one of those games that you'll either Love or Hate. If you like fast-paced and challenging, you'll love this game, but if you like to play a Match 3 game for relaxation, you're probably going to hate it. Show less

Enjoyed playing the game. Read the review about getting stuck on level 2. There is a timer on game and sometimes you have to play level 2 or 3 times to accomplish all goals. when you replay level it just keeps adding your points until you reach goal.
Most likely will purchase game

Reminds me of those Treasure of Montezuma games. Making matches to gain energy to get coins for powerups is the object but there are also extra challenges on some levels (i.e. challenge the Ice Man, feed the toad) to get extra coins. Give it a try, but I think it is a buy!

Love Match 3 games. I know - some call them boring and not challenging enough but for me there is a calming, hypnotic quality about them that I enjoy. There is not as many Match 3 games for Mac as there are for PC (hint for developers), this one will challenge most of the casual players, it's quick, at times frustrating but always fun.
Bought all the Montezuma games and of course this one too.

I recommend this game!

I loved the toad that sits to the side and eats spiders when they are level with his tongue! More of that kind of thing makes it more interesting.

I did find myself more distracted by what color tiles I needed to match (shown in that filling globe on the left) than by playing the game to meet the objectives. I could see out of the corner of my eye and that is all I wanted to match, those colors, that when filling the globe made big boom-booms of tiles!

I think there are enough of this type of Match-3, with the jewel primary colors, big tiles, etc. Mostly they are phone games or reconfigured for PC phone games.

The amount of the demo I played sated my appetite for the game. There are much better Match-3s out there. Funny, I was just thinking of this developer yesterday, went to their site to see what was new!

I won't recommend a game I wouldn't buy for myself. Show less

Well, this is just a basic match 3 game. No dialog, no story, no builder game...just plain match 3. Graphics were excellent and the game worked smoothly. You had the option of advance or relax mode...I chose relaxed...not into stressing out over a game.

Well, this is just a basic match 3 game. No dialog, no story, no builder game...just plain match 3. Graphics were excellent and the game worked smoothly. You had the option of advance or relax mode...I chose relaxed...not into stressing out over a game.

However, there was very little to no tutorial as far as how to play certain game play movements. I even started over with the tutorial checked to see if it had a help screen as far as the what filled the bulb on the left hand side and what made it go up and down and other things like the chain on the right side, how to defeat the ice monster and feed the toad. You just had to kind of figure these things out as you went along. The game goes so fast you don't have a lot of time to watch what triggers these things and there is no explanation. I was almost 3/4 of the way through when I figured out, sort of, how they worked or could be defeated.

Basically, despite all that, I did enjoy the game and it was long enough to be worth the money, but not so long you got bored. I don't know if I would have spent full price for it, but on 60% off, it was worth it. Show less
