Am not a mahjong fan (other than fishjong) so am finding myself enjoying this since it involved vampires and a previous reviewer said it was easy which it is so far. The graphics are very well done, the music appropriate to the game and the tiles are pretty easy to see. There doesn't seem to be a limit on the shuffling and there's also a hint button. So if you want a fairly easy (so far) game ...Show more

But I love the music and the ambiance of the game. For me it is the perfect unwind game after work or on the weekend,not to hard. I also like the clutter games of matching objects in between levels. A Mahjong game has to be really good or offer unique features to hold my attention, and this one has some really good, creepy atmospheric graphics and a decent plot to go along with. The only issue I have with the Mahjong levels is that they are far too easy, even on the Hard Mode. In all fairness, I only completed the demo portion so it may very well get more difficult after the demo, so I'm on the fence with this one, folks.

You play a series of Mahjong rounds per level as you progress towards and then through the Haunted Mansion, and each game you play has a different layout, I liked this multi-game per level scenario. It has 70 Levels and I believe 10 Achievements and the tiles themselves are antique in appearance with symbols you'd expect from a haunted theme, skulls, ravens, axes, sickles, shovels, jack-o-lanterns, bats etc. (although I'd expect to vampire's and fangs as well?) There is a Hint and Shuffle feature available and none of the levels are Timed, which I also like, because I play Mahjong to relax, not work up a sweat from an adrenaline rush. I realize that what I'm saying sound contradicting, I want to relax while playing, but I still want somewhat of a challenge, otherwise, what's the point?

As you progress through the creepiness, you'll come across an occasional Hidden Object Scene that is mostly the JetDogs Clutter versions, but they can be Skipped. If you don't mind that the Mahjong Levels are really easy, everything else about this game is pretty interesting. Show less

Mahjong games do not normally have much of a story to them. But Vampire Romance has a story. So I gave one star for that. The background visuals behind the dialogue are lovely especially for a mahjong game. So there's another star. However, that's as far as my star-giving goes.

Each level uses the same dull, boring and poorly drawn mahjong tiles. They're crudely drawn skulls, ghosts, etc done in dark brown on ugly parchment colored backgrounds.

There's no animation after you make a match. There's nothing extra to find on the boards and no goals to achieve. You simply make matches until you're done and then it's on to the next level of exactly the same thing.

After a certain number of levels, you get a clutter scene where they tell you what items to look for. Completing those scenes didn't seem to mean much as far as progressing in the game. So then I simply continued on with another bit of story and more mahjong levels using the same boring tiles.

Maybe things would have gotten better or at least different had I continued the game. But after the demo trial, I was too bored to care. I'm all for being relaxed as I play mahjong; but not to the point of falling asleep. Show less
