Usually I complain about games being 'the same' but with this series the puzzles are always different, but having the same game play makes you feel right at home with our friends.

Whilst you are left to navigate and explore your territory, solve mysteries of landmarks and breed a well balanced population, there are some major changes in this offering compared to those past.

For the free to play market I guess it has also been turned into a 'casino' game in some parts. You may risk your 'lava stone' to try to get ahead and upgrade the qualities of your people without having to wait the ions it usually takes for skills to be gained. (I was fortunate enough to get a 'perfect' master of all skills on my first spin) maybe everyone does? But it allowed me to get on with repairing buildings and the dock etc.

When I first ran the tutorial I was aghast, I thought my game had been reduced to pin head size, but on leaving and re-entering the game I was back in familiar territory sized normal.

This was an instant buy for me. I love these games. They are difficult but there is help available on the internet if you need it. And of course a warning to newcomers these games are quite drawn out to get through. I didn't see an option to speed it up.

Remember this game runs in 'real' time. If you leave your villagers will carry on while you are away. If you don't want to come back to any disasters or deaths, there IS a pause option to set before you leave. (especially if you use the 'auto breed function, they may get out of control? lol)

Really just another great installment. I love it! Show less

Finally another Last Day of Work Virtual Village game, I love it. Loaded and bought it without even reading what it was about. If you liked the other VV games in which I am a big fan then you should like this one too. It started off small yes but all you do is use your scroll button to make it larger. Just follow the instructions... You can do a lot of adjusting if you want to. You can change their names, their clothes or what you would like them to excell in. Alot of new different items like the lava, the spin wheel and the different collectibles. You really do need to search for "everything" and that is what makes this game so fun. Can't really say anything bad about it without being a nit picker and Iam not. The graphics are nicely done and the music is nice as well. Don't give up to soon on this game because this is the kind of game that takes hours and hours and you do need a lot of patience to finish it. I think it is very well worth it. I love it!

I spent the first day growing the population. Currently I have 15 people (most children) running around. The lavastones gave me a boost in the skills for everyone. Right now I've got 1 on farming and the rest (that aren't breeding/nursing) on Research. I'll get around to crafting once the population has grown up a bit.
I started with 3 males and 2 females (grown up). I've changed their first names but mostly kept their last names. I see the children carry their father's name. This will help once they're old enough for their own children.
I've used the internet for hints on how to do the puzzles - I've got the first 4 done.
At some point I'll probably restart the game from scratch and see if I have 3 females and 2 males how it changes things.
I would have liked a "double-time" feature at the start just to get things going faster but I just let it run over night - that helped. Show less

Anyone who has played any of the prevous VV games before - instant buy!
We have only been waiting years for this!

It's very similar to previous VV games, with some new added challenges and tasks, and I am loving this already, about 24 hours in.

Love that you can earn and spend Lavastones to speed up some processes. Sometimes the waiting is a killer.

One thing the previous "reviewer" obviously didn't read - you can zoom into and out of the village, which makes it easier to find all the little hidden plants and secrets.

I thought there would be no more Virtual Villagers as it has been quite some time since the last version for PC was released (there is a Virtual Villagers Origin, but it is just for phone apps; don't know why it not was developed for the PC).

In any event, I was very surprised and delighted to see this version available for the PC user. I can tell you right up front that this game is not for anyone who lacks patience. This game will require tons of patience and time, but as each goal is achieved it is well worth the wait.

As in most of my reviews, I give kudos to the developers for this type of games. The hours and hours, days and months it takes to ensure that every action is captured and added to other actions to achieve the goals. From choosing skills for each worker, to having them reach master level for the skill, to ensuring only master skills can achieve certain goals, to ensuring young workers can't have children too early, to gathering resources and making sure using certain resource with other resources provide necessary items to move on.

I could go on and on, but this is a minute list of the what the developers put in place to bring this game to fruition. It doesn't include the number of hours that the game must be tested before release. All this just amazes me when I play this type of game.

In any event, I highly recommend this game to those who have the patience and who enjoy reaching hard to obtain goals.

Hope there will be another Virtual Villagers, but I know it won't be anytime soon ;) Show less

I was so excited when I saw this game, as I had given up on any others for the foreseeable future, and I was just playing the old ones. I bought it immediately and I love it. It IS a little different that's probably a good thing, but the feel is the same. Then I find out there is a market, where you can make real-life purchases for things such as lava stones and extras that increase your tech points, totem poles and the like - super excited me!

So, I go looking for that, nope, couldn't find it. Finally, I come across the official VV forum and find that because I bought the game on BigFish I can't access markets, videos to gain lava stone or some of the obscure items needed throughout the game :(

If I had known that would be the case with the game I would have bought it elsewhere as BF are the only game site that don't allow access to them :( Show less

a great time killer. by the time you take a break you will be surprised how much time has passed. if you were a fan of the first villagers games then you will be hooked

I love this game. Challenging enough yet not to hard. If you say no to the tutorial the annoying man doesn't show. I learned this after a restart of the game. Personally I cant say anything bad about this game. I can say its a must try.
