I really didn't get all the fuss everyone was making over the first Pixel Art release. When Pixel Art 2 was released I thought I'd give it a whirl during a Buy one, Get One sale and I found myself totally engrossed in one of the most simplistic games I've ever played. It turns out that "painting pixels by numbers" is very relaxing and very zen.
The first five or six levels are just tutorials and the pixels are large and very easy to fill in, but eventually, the pictures become quite elaborate as the pixels get smaller and more intricate. It feels like a great accomplishment to finish a picture and completely relaxing at that!
There's not a whole lot to have to figure out, it's about as uncomplicated and basic as it gets. Pixel Art is a computer version of Paint by Numbers. Each pixel has a number and you chose the corresponding color bubble (also numbered) on the right and simply left click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color, you can hold the mouse button and swipe through large groupings as well.
There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a directional tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. There is an auto-fill feature that will fill in all of the pixels of a particular color by double-clicking, but that feature has to recharge after each use, besides, it's more satisfying to color them yourself. The last feature is a slider bar that allows you to change the color of the background, it really only allows you to change the colors in shades of grey or black. It would make more sense to have an entire color scale available on a paint by numbers game, wouldn't it?
Keep an open mind, it seems basic and rudimentary at first but you may just find yourself boarding the Pixel Art Zen train too, I'll save you a seat!

Review based on trial only.
I own the previous 2 releases and it's very time consuming... but in a good way.
No change in mechanics or concept: just more pictures to paint-by-numbers; and some pictures have a lot of colors (I just completed 1 with 24 colors!)

I don't know how many pictures there are as you can only unlock "page 2" after completing "page 1", which I was not able to do during the trial period.
As the saying goes, "if it's not broken, don't fix it" !
My only suggestion would be to make the rechargeable bar a darker shade of green: the light green is a bit hard to see...
Do the 1st drawing to become familiar with the controls, then skip to the drawing with the car in the street (the first picture in the 2nd row); you'll know quickly if this game is for you! Show less

The instructions are super easy to understand, the features work like a charm and the game runs with absolutely no problems. My favorite feature is enlarging the picture. I also appreciate double clicking to cover a large area of all one color. Very thoughtful of the devs to include such useful tools to make pixel painting even more fun.
Since discovering Pixel Art and Rainbow Mosaics I am a very happy fishie. Being so overly tired of fantasy themes and demon infested games, this type of entertainment is just a wonderful change of pace. The Pixel Art games are suitable for all ages and the enlargement feature is a blessing if like me, you have aging eyes or wear glasses. I happily recommend!

I fell in love with the first one and changed characters at least 5 times to color them all again. No bells and whistles, I turn music off and only keep the game sounds. I love the more detailed pictures. This is more of a color by number than a game to concentrate on. Kick back and fill in the spaces!
I recommend this game!

I LOVE Pixel Art 3 and the two previous Pixel Art games available through Big Fish. The games are so relaxing. The developer, T1 Games, has created up to Pixel Art 10. I wonder why Big Fish doesn't offer more of these games. I want to play them all!

If you liked the first Pixel Art, loved Pixel Art 2, then you're definitely going to ADORE Pixel Art 3! There is more of what makes this sort of game enjoyable, and it just keeps getting better. If you liked the first Pixel Art, loved Pixel Art 2, then you're definitely going to ADORE Pixel Art 3! There is more of what makes this sort of game enjoyable, and it just keeps getting better. There are some glitches that have carried over, across the 3 game series, but none that truly disturb the game play. This game isn't meant for those with no patience; if you don't like solitaire, or a slow paced game like chess, then you need to go elsewhere. On the other hand, if you do like a game that keeps you busy, without being taxing/trying...this is a game you can play with the radio, or t.v. on in the background, relaxing away the hours when you're bored. It doesn't get old, either. I've played the first 2 over, and over, and this game would seem to fit into the series just fine. To the developers, keep the challenges coming, don't fix what ain't broken, and I promise to keep buying these games! Great job! Show less

This developer seems to be the only one who does these coloring games..not sure why since they are popular. I have similar games on my android devices that I play a lot but love these on my bigger computer screen. I hope they keep them coming.

When I first tried the first game in the Pixel Art series, I was seriously underwhelmed by the difficulty of many of the scenes, and some of the colors they used were eyeball-searingly Web 1.0. But in Pixel Art 2, they turned this around and made sure that all the pixel puzzles had some level of challenge to them. They addressed the color thing, but they went a little too far in the other direction, with too many grays and muted colors. Now it looks like they may just have found the secret sauce. I'm in!
