JUST ANOTHER FUN TIME AT SUMMER CAMP, OR IS IT?

Chimeras Wailing Waters, the latest release in the Chimeras series, is surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because I was prepared to dislike the game, but it turned out that as I played the demo, I realized that I was wrapped up in the storyline so only stopped playing long enough to purchase the full game.

Elephant Games is a favorite game developer of mine as they always produce top quality games and Chimeras Wailing Waters is no exception. Although I found the graphics to be a bit cartoonish early in the game, they soon became much better. The one complaint I have is with the custom settings for the game that should allow us to set our own hint and skip times.

The storyline for the game is excellent which makes the game far better than many in the Chimeras series. Sadly, IMHO, no other Chimeras game has come close to Tune of Revenge however, Wailing Waters is still one of the better games in the series.

The HOS in Wailing Waters are excellent for me as I love the style that this developer uses when creating the scenes. The items are well depicted, and the scenes have variety as well as interaction required to find many of the items. The standard list style has always been my favorite for the HOS and Elephant Games has stayed with predominantly using lists for their HOS. There is an equal balance between the HOS and Puzzles, so we are not overwhelmed with finding puzzle after puzzle in order to move forward. The Puzzles are enjoyable and not the type that made me want to rip out my hair as I tried to solve them.

I’m not going to give you the game’s details but will only say that Chimeras Wailing Waters is the perfect game for me and the way I enjoy playing. We all have different things that we expect or want from games so not everyone will agree with what is only my opinion. For me Wailing Waters deserves a five-star rating because I find it enjoyable and a well-designed game. As always, please try the demo to see if Chimeras Wailing Waters is a game that you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming! Show less

This was fun but challenging. I started out in the hardest level then went to the advanced. Loved it but missed the little characters

you arrive 3 days before the academy opens to find your friends stuck on black lake and monsters roaming around. you have to figure out where the monsters came from and how to get rid of them. i played on the custom level and there is a good hint system.

I recommend this game!

This is an okay game, but nothing to write home about. I have several in this series, but this one is so much different from the previous, it is hard to recognize. My first turn off was the genre, but I expected that when I started to play.

This is an okay game, but nothing to write home about. I have several in this series, but this one is so much different from the previous, it is hard to recognize. My first turn off was the genre, but I expected that when I started to play.

I was most disappointed in the graphics. They were straight out of the Sunday comics. Not exactly what I've grown to expect from Elephant Games. The colors are bright and not dark and dreary. Sound is good and voice overs are well done. I really didn't pay any attention to the music so it must not have been intrusive.

I did like the hidden object games in that they were varied and to my liking. Mini games... well they are mini games and not my favorite activity. I used the custom mode and when 1 seconds was up so was my patience... :-)

So far as this genre, the story was pretty good. I'm sure others will go into depth about the story so I'll leave that to them.

Although this is not a buy for me, you play the demo and see if you don't like it better than I. I'm holding off for games with genres I like. Nothing better than an old fashion murder mystery, but they are few and far between. Show less

I downloaded the trial based on the 2 excellent reviews that were posted here, at the time. Unfortunately, I couldn't disagree more with their ratings.

I couldn't figure out what was going on in this game: the main characters are some sort of weird fox human hybrid that was an elvin or fairy breed.... interesting concept, except in every other respect they were like normal teens at a normal summer camp, dealing with a normal... er... Golem that was after them for no good reason that I could make out. From what I could fathom, this hybrid teen theme was slapped on to avoid unflattering comparisons being made between this game and another highly successful one, featuring campfire horror tales.

Getting on with the story (for lack of a better word): you play some sort of detective or hero who has an unspecified relationship with the hybrid creatures - it's never made clear what. These misguided youths or whatever they are, have unleashed a curse. It's not really clear how or why they did this, or what the curse even is. Before you have the chance to get your head around all these plot holes, Golems appear and start trashing everything. Also without rhyme or reason.

This was as far as I could make it into the demo before I got fed up with the garbled progress of the story (and again, it seems a stretch to call it story at all) and stopped.

An odd feature here was that the characters would inexplicably freeze in mid-action whenever I had to do go off and take care of my filler tasks, e.g. collecting a telephone shaped token to open a booth and what not. They would literally freeze, and stay frozen until I'd completed my task. It was creepy.

(Has anyone else here ever thought of how funny it would be if action films incorporated some of these typical HOG tasks into their plot lines? Imagine if the Wolverine has to drop everything in the middle of confronting Sabretooth just so he can go glomming after some oil to remove the rust from his claws... only to find it's locked away in a cabinet... that can only be opened with a bunny-shaped token... that has been dropped in the back garden... that he has to swipe from a zealous, hungry, squirrel, using some nuts? Might be a good plot for a SNL skit. But, I digress!)

I tried my best to like this game, restarting it three full times before losing patience. Each time, I forced myself to get through each scene, teeth clenched, mind boggled by the lack of continuity. In the end I deleted it, before the trial was half over. That is saying a lot because I think very carefully about downloading anything, given that it takes ages on my computer, and I only very reluctantly delete games I've downloaded. And even then, I only delete them after a full trial. But this candy coloured mess was unplayable and unrelatable in the extreme, and it was a waste of disk space.

Elephant, take a holiday. Reflect, relax, get centred and focus on being your best self. Then, please make some great games for us to play again! Show less

Graphics were poor and boring and too bright, but did offer gamma. Characters were cartoonish, wooden and childlike. Tasks, games and hidden object games looked like old development. Downright dull over all! Nothing new or interesting. Child like teens (counselors) at camp with poor dialogue, bad voice overs and horrid monster designs. Not even close to an adult game.

At about 22 minutes into the trial, I was done with it. It must have sensed it because it froze up on me with a message with a lot of zeros and best that I could capture was bfgclient.exe app error @...….744Feos ref memory Ox...….4 and I had to delete out of the game! Show less

This is def. the worst Chimeras game I have played and I have played them all I still have no idea what the point of the story was. Story was beyond ludicrous. Game play was all over the place. No cohesion at all. Please play the demo first if you're looking at older games. This one was a dud and it was extremely short.

I don't recommend this game.

The boys from Heavenfall thought they were just having a little fun when they summoned the Forest Spirit of Black Lake just before Summer Camp, and they got exactly what they wished for! Thank goodness Greta called you because the campgrounds are swarming with monsters and everyone is in serious danger. Because that's what detectives do, right?

This game and the majority of the series has NOTHING to do with Chimeras. I loved Tune of Revenge and so did the majority of players, maybe Elephant needs to revisit that game to see why that game was so amazing? The Heavenfall school kids plot wasn't good, to begin with, why do they keep making it about them, because that's as close as they can get to a chimeras story?

There are 14 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE version Bonus Chapter. These were some of the most basic HOP's I've seen in a long time. Most of the scenes were Interactive List Finds but there were also Silhouetted Shape finds, Keywords and Pair Matching scenes as well.

There are 16 Mini-Games +6 in the CE version Bonus Chapter. I wasn't really impressed with any of them because they are repeats from past games and very simplistic, such as jigsaw puzzles, combining symbols to match the center symbol, a peg-jump variation, and the standard navigational puzzles.

In the CE version Bonus Chapter, you return to Black Lake to restore its magic when someone begins taking plants and animals that fueled the magic. There are 6 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes, and you will pick up the remaining 3 Collectible Character Photos, 8 Morphing Objects and 12 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces which completes the final Screensaver.

The Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art Pictures, 4 Screensavers (Four 12-Piece Jigsaw Puzzles) 48 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces (4 Screensavers) 5 Music Soundtracks, 23 Achievements, a Secret Room with 13 Replayable Mini-Games, 12 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, & Secret Puzzle (locate Morphing Objects in each location) 12 Collectible Character Photos, 26 Scene Location Morphing Objects, 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide.
