DON'T let the cutesie graphics fool ya, this is no fool's game and it's certainly not a child's Match 3 game! I've played a lot of Match 3 games over the years but I have never seen a game quite like this one. Button Tales is an extremely challenging Limited Moves game that requires a little bit of luck, a little bit of skill, a little bit of memory, and a whole lot of patience!
In Button Tales: Way Back Home, there are two ways to make matches, the old-fashioned way of swapping tiles, or the Button Tales way of flipping buttons over. The old-fashioned way is perfectly fine but isn't strategically advantageous most of the time because, for one, it uses up a precious limited Move, and trust me, they aren't very generous with the amounts given. When you flip a button over, on the other hand, it doesn't affect your Limited Moves, AND it may result in an automatic match which also doesn't count towards a Move. (I found this out the hard way on level 3)
Everything else is pretty much standard Match 3 flair, make required matches of Specified Buttons, Clear all Green cells, bust through Obstacles such as Crates, and receive Bonuses for Large Matches, like Bombs of various coverage and Vertical or Horizontal Line Busters.
The first two levels really fooled me into thinking this was one of those sugary sweet Match 3 games converted from mobile to PC. By the time Level 3 rolled around I realized that there was more to this game and that I'd need to plan my moves strategically. The board layouts are tricky and the challenges they present assures a lengthy game well worth the price. Show less

Maybe this is a game wich you either love or hate. I sure love it. I played the first Button Tales over and over again. It is hard to earn 3 stars on some levels, but I really enjoyed the challenge.
The flipping thing is well thought out. I like the abscense of bling bling and/or crazy explosions, the images are calm to the eye, but appealing. I immediately bought this game.
I recommend this game!

A good continuation of a good game. I recommend it to all fans of the genre, and especially to those who like the first part of the game.

I was excited when I saw this but have to say it does not have the features of the first game where you had to build a bridge etc to proceed in the game. It is very similar to the first game but without the extras that the first game has. I would say to demo both games before you buy and decide for yourself.Had this improved and not gone the other way it would have been 5 stars

Match 3's is my fav of games, so I was glad to see a new one. But,I found this rather boring. You don't build anything and there's no break to do something else between levels. You can play relaxed or limited moves. I play relaxed, I don't like or buy a game that has limited moves only. One thing it had that was different; you can click on a token and it will change to another one. That was cool. ...Show more

The only object of the game seems to be to collect set numbers of certain tiles, which always bores me. I didn't play many levels so perhaps it gets better later on, but I wasn't interested enough to find out.
I don't recommend this game.
