I really enjoy this kind of game. I have all of this series so far, and hope there will be more. I wish they would consider doing themed ones such as holidays like Christmas and Halloween. I would buy all of them. This edition has been my favorite so far. It seems as though they are adding more complex images to work on. I really like that. I have also been thinking that they might make the game more interesting for some players that are use to games where you get rewards for finishing levels, that maybe the designers could do something like that. For every level completed, the player gets some reward that leads to something else maybe puzzle pieces that you can put together when all are collected. Just an idea. Show less

The difference between Pixel Art and Paint by Numbers is that these games are more traditional with areas to color rather than square pixels. In the first game, there were slightly different shades between areas that really made the images pop with vivid shades of orange, yellow, pink, purple, etc. (just look at the image shown of the lizard on #1) the second game had really ugly colors with no shade variations, the third edition had much better colors but the pictures weren't that interesting, and now, once again, some of these pictures are ugly and the colors need to pop with more vivid and bright colors, not bland colors like burnt orange!?
Here are a few suggestions I'd like to see added STILL:
*The cursor is way too large and bulky, especially when trying to fill in those teeny-tiny areas. It would be nice to have at least 2 cursors "tip" options, preferably cursors of various art media, such as a colored pencil tip, a fountain pen tip, or a sharpie marker tip.
*At least some of the images should be larger images, after all, we can drag the image around to get to other areas.
*The images need to have symmetrical or geometrical patterns versus doors & windows, dots, and impossible to see blurbs.
*Let us choose the color of the background with an actual Color Palette & let us choose the color of the current number highlighted areas which are currently a dark grey (if we can't choose the color of the highlighted area DO NOT use fill in colors in the same shades of gray or black!)
*The black outlines need to be much thinner so they don't stick out like a sore thumb and take away from the beauty of the completed picture (which is also confusing when trying to differentiate between that grey highlighted current color...again give us the choice of the current highlighted colors)
*The colors need to be crazy, the colors need shading variations, do away with areas to fill in the size of a fist (we aren't toddlers) Choose images of animals or scenery that can allow you to take advantage of all the color hues...you know how to contact me :)
Some of the areas to fill are super tiny which makes it difficult to see the numbers, however, if you scan the mouse over a section it will show that particular number above the cursor and it's large enough for anyone to see easily. It can be difficult to fill in some of those smaller areas simply because the cursor is so large and bulky. As I said earlier, if the areas to fill were geometrical or symmetrical this could be avoided altogether. There is also a Hint button that will point to any missed areas of the current color, without penalty.
There's not a whole lot to have to figure out, it's about as uncomplicated and basic as it gets. Paint By Numbers is a computer version of Oil or Colored Pencil Paint by Numbers, and actually closer to the real thing than the Pixel Art versions. Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side, left-click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color.
There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. There is also a slider bar that allows you to change the color of the background, but it really only allows you to change the colors in shades of grey or black. It would make more sense to have an entire color scale available on a paint by numbers game though, wouldn't it? I would love to see a "texture" feature added that would mimic different paint variations as well.
Keep an open mind, it isn't supposed to be a brain-burner kind of game. It's a very basic and rudimentary game that's just supposed to take you out of the hectic zone for a bit. I'm still a Pixel Art & Paint by Numbers fan, but Paint by Numbers is flawed and not consistent. I was constantly having issues with the screen zooming in and out all by itself which became annoying. I prefer Paint by Numbers vs. Pixel Art because it's closer to the "real deal" and I'm certain that a few tweaks could make this version an amazing and zenful game! ☯

I thought the 4th in the series would never get here, I was that impatient to play the next rendition.
Being able to sweep across sections to apply a layer of color is wonderful, and bravo on the background music.

I do wish that there were fewer simple designs and a much broader palette that includes pastels. My favorite image remains the panther in the first edition, which was done in marvelous pastel shades.
It would also be nice to be able to contemplate the finished piece rather than have it immediately transform into a thumbnail on the last fill in element.
All in all, I'll keep buying this series at first sight because I love it. Show less

I own the other Paint By Number games and have enjoyed them, but Number 4 is less than what I was expecting. The fun of painting is still there, but minimal. The colors are fine, they don't look drab to me at all, although I think more are needed so shading can be applied to the pictures.

There are only 64 images, but they are so simple to color that before I knew it the end of the demo was upon me. I think a larger collection of pics would be great. The pictures, for me, are far too simplistic and suited more for younger artists. There are small images with large solid 1-color areas that are of no challenge and the pic is done in the blink of an eye. It would be so nice to have large, sophisticated, more detailed images to paint which would be more suitable for adults. I love the challenge and the satisfaction that comes with completing the larger pictures.
Some of the pictures here are not appealing to me, so I choose to skip over them and that makes the game even shorter. I did purchase this game just to keep my art collection growing and add some new pics to play with. However, the subject matter keeps the level of fun low, for me.
I really don't care about the background color or fancy cursors. I don't need a zillion whacky, super bright colors to make me happy. But a wide range of appropriate colors including the ones needed for beautiful shading and depth are an absolute must in any color/paint game. Also a sharp, more precise point is necessary for the cursor because of all the itsy-bitsy areas in the pictures. Very frustrating to paint with a big, clunky cursor.
I would love to see animal, birds, nature in these art games as well, which would require more detail and shading. The Paint By Number games always run smoothly on my PC, I've never had any tech issues. The features offered work fine and the colors are all nice and bright. Very sharp graphics.
Paint By Number is a fine game, I just feel it could be much better with a few changes that would enhance the entertainment value. I am always looking for the color/paint games and buy every one that comes to BFG. I just wish Big Fish would bring us more. There are a lot of them! They are available to MAC users, but what about the PC owners? We love and want the art games, too. They are so relaxing, and still a bit challenging with many areas to be color-filled in the large, detailed pics.
The art games have become my favorite genre alongside the HOPAs, they are a very nice break from the more time-consuming, serious games and it would be fantastic to have a larger assortment of them with their own category, perhaps.
I recommend this game for anyone who simply likes painting without having to mess with the clean-up and supplies.. It is really fun to watch the image bloom as the colors are applied. Who knows? These games might inspire a youngster to, some day, become an artist. Show less

I do like that after you get through the first group you get to open all the other pages, so I don't have to color the ones I dislike. I don't like the fact that you can't make the background a different shade than the ones you need to color. I liked the way it was in the first few games. Easier to spot where you need to color. As for the coloring itself, some look like they were colored by a second grader. But all in all, it's ok. Show less
