I'm a fan of 1001 Jigsaw games, and this one has the same quality gameplay. The problem is with the images, some of which were repeats from other 1001 Jigsaw games. The first section of people is just plain odd, with some of them being downright creepy! The food section and the art section had really nice pictures that were fun to work, and the city photos were mostly nice. The rest were just ...Show more

I liked the high fashion pictures, but twice in a week pieces got stuck where they didn't belong and I couldn't move them. Then I finished a puzzle that was over 200 pieces and the game didn't recognize that all the pieces were in. All I could do was quit without saving.

I don't recommend this game.

Goodbye Earth Chronicles, it was a good run but your owners thought it would be a good idea to ditch all the really cool "EARTHY" pictures that chronicled our beautiful planet. Gone are the pictures of zebras, elephants, and giraffes of the savannas of Africa. Gone are ring-tailed lemurs of Madagascar. Gone are the koala's of the Australian eucalyptus forests, gone are the pandas of the Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces in Central China, gone are the polar bears of the Arctic and Alaskan tundras, gone are the exotic birds, gorillas, okapis, jaguars, three-toed sloths, sticky-footed tree frogs and poison arrow dart frogs of the luscious Rainforests. Gone are the gorgeous underwater pictures of sea anemones, clownfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, starfish, tangs, chromis, damselfish, mandarin fish, cleaner wrasses, coral beauty's, urchins, coral reefs, sharks, rays, and dolphins of the Seven Seas. Hello, uninteresting pictures of people, places and random staged things!

There are 7 themed Boxes of Puzzles, only one of which has a "wildnature" theme. (Harmony-Food-Wildnature-Holiday-Landscapes-Cities-Art) They are unappealing as stand-alone pictures much less as puzzle pictures. Each box contains 143 puzzles for a total of 1001 puzzle images. There are Achievement Trophies to earn and a Top Scores leaderboard but there is no option to access any of these features to know what achievements you are striving to achieve. You can save your puzzle progress but you can't save the completed puzzle image or download the image as a screensaver, which makes no sense?

There is a box to store extra pieces, but there are no options to categorize, label or sort these stored pieces, nor is there an option to fetch or retrieve certain pieces because you can't sort and label these stored pieces. The current sort option simply scrambles the pieces to the correct area, such as the top, bottom, right, or left side which practically feels like you're cheating...that makes no sense? Wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to sort them by the correct rotation, color variations (zebra stripes, blue sky, green grass) or shape of the puzzle piece? At least it gives you the option to choose the Border pieces separately, but again, there is no color sorting options there either...which really doesn't make sense?

There is an option to post a Picture Image of the puzzle you are working on which does allow you to choose three different sizes of x1, x2 or x3. You can also opt to Ghost the Image on the Background (the puzzle is assembled on top of the ghosted image) It doesn't, however, give you the option to choose the Opaqueness of the Ghosted Image to make the image more or less visible, depending on how difficult you want the puzzle assembly to be...that doesn't make sense either?

There is an available Magnifying Glass to enlarge sections, as well as a Hint feature in case you get stumped. You can choose the Resolution, opt for a single Custom Cursor or change the color of the background to a pastel shade of Pink, Green, Blue or Gray. These basic color options tend to be too dark with many of the puzzles they offer, so being able to adjust the intensity of the background colors at the very least, makes sense, doesn't it? Here's a fun fact: Most monitors can EASILYdisplay 16,777,216 256 different colors, yet we are only given an option of Four of those 16,777,216 256 colors to choose from as the background color...that totally makes no sense, does it?

Any Puzzle offered can be modified with Size options, the Shape of the puzzle pieces, and whether or not you want the pieces to Rotate, but even then, it's not optimized to allow you to assemble a puzzle much bigger than 300 pieces. A 300 Piece Puzzle purchased off the shelf would be labeled for ages +8-12...that ridiculously makes no sense to me!

Once you complete a Jigsaw Puzzle, you're done, the party's over. You get to see the finished image for a split second (I'm not exaggerating) and then the Stats Window pops up. The completed Jigsaws aren't displayed in a Gallery or any other section for that matter, to allow you to admire your work or the beauty of the image, (assuming the picture is appealing) so I suppose asking for an option to save the puzzle's image as a Screensaver or Wallpaper is too much to ask for...that makes sense, right?

What is going on?

As per usual the images are dreadful, I had trouble getting the pieces to fit even though they were the right piece it took several attempts before it would be accepted.

Time and time again we ask for variety then we get a virtually identical game in the same week.

I love doing jigsaw puzzles and this game has several features that are really helpful such as modifying puzzles for number of pieces, turning piece rotation on/off, and allowing ghosting images for a quick peek at the final answer. But. But. But they NEVER have decent jigsaw pictures and that's the whole reason for doing the puzzles! This company puts out jigsaw puzzle games that are supposed to be different, often for whatever the upcoming holiday is but it doesn't really matter. They seem to use one woman as a model and dress her up in various ethnic styles or they use stock photos of boring animals or tourist style landscapes. Awful. And shame on Big Fish for allowing this. The same game, slightly different pictures, although still boring. Again. Show less

DEJAVU!! Another inferior puzzle game that will never be anything BUT inferior until the need for changes is acknowledged To begin with "Earth Chronicles" is not a fitting title. The beauty of our wonderous planet is not represented here. The only change I see with today's release, is the date!!

Granted, the colors are bright and beautiful and there are lots of puzzles. But that just doesn't matter when so much is flawed. One category has some pics of nature and animals, but in those I saw repeats from earlier releases. Am I wrong to expect images of animals, birds, nature, sea life, exotic landscapes, people of other countries donning their traditional costumes? I think not!

I am so sick of unappealing staged settings, ridiculous models, food, buildings, holidays etc, etc. They don't belong in "Earth Chronicles". I want to see nature in all its glory, I want puzzles that are fun to assemble. Always the same features, sometimes placing the pieces is a struggle, sorting them is a tedious task, there is no challenge to the small puzzle sizes. My huge pet peeve is that after completion the puzzle vanishes in the blink of an eye. Poof! It's gone! No save option to use as a wallpaper.

I simply don't understand why we continually get a product that is so unsatisfactory. Why the negative reviews don't generate an effort to fix it. Why BF even supports this dev. I will no longer review "Earth Chronicles" since our opinions are evidently of no concern.

You'll enjoy this game if looking for something to fill some idle hours and if the content isn't really all that important. Otherwise, there are far better ones, created by people who are not lazy and want to please. Show less
