I have all the games of this series, and this one is now my preferred of them. It is very much the same game as the others but they have at last hastened up the loading process and you cant help but like how clear the cards are and how smooth play is.

I have all the games of this series, and this one is now my preferred of them. It is very much the same game as the others but they have at last hastened up the loading process and you cant help but like how clear the cards are and how smooth play is.

Its very much a 'fantasy' fairytale setting, with fairies and wizards restoring damaged settings from the mana you collect as you play the levels. There are the same features of past games like boarded cards you must actually play the card with the axe on, not just find it,..frozen cards to play twice etc. One new feature I came across on the demo was a lantern which you do just 'get to' and it clears mist from covered cards. You can use it on areas even if there is still a card on top in order to reveal whats 'in the mist'

There are three modes, casual, timed and easy..casual is pretty easy for most anyway, so any great challenge will come from beating the clock. But there are many levels, and historically these games are long and we are told there are eighty more levels in the CE. That is the only reason I got it. There are sweet fairytale wallpapers (7), 4 bio's on the characters, 5 music choices and achievements (that you get just for playing really)

There are 8 decks to choose from, and as in other games, as you earn coins you can shop for bonuses, or buy wild cards (lucky dip..no choice) or jokers.

Its a lovely game and my main admiration is just how clear the cards are on the screen you can scan and see the numbers always. If you have the others..not much new here, but I bought it as it is one of my very favourite solitaire series (and I have a few LOL!)...I think this game will delight in either the CE or SE format, just up to personal choice. I have been with BigFish games since they first started. That's a long time and this is the FIRST solitaire game I have ever bought. I usually hate them. This game has it ALL! So many bonuses. So colourful. And you get to build a city. I love the challenge of this game. I could not resist. It's a gem!

I have other games in this series and I have liked them all. I feel this is the best of the series. I like being able to build a village, and the graphics are great, very colorful. I bought this game and recommend it highly.

I do agree with other reviewers that the other graphics aren't quite as sharp as the first game, but the gameplay is, as always, superb, so I will let that part go. The only reason I paid for a CE version was because I was too impatient to wait for the standard version, but the length of gameplay makes it more than worth the expense. I have previous Dreamland Solitaire games but since I upgraded to Catalina, they became unplayable. I've been looking for a good solitaire and this one certainly fits the bill beautifully.

The storyline is basic but logical. The locations graphics are clear and colourful, there is a lot to do at each location and the games progressively become more difficult even on casual mode.

There are three modes of play as well which allows for repeat play. There are achievements, power-ups to buy in the store and not too much interruption to the game play with video clips.

There are no technical hiccups with this game as there have been on other supposed Catalina ready games and that's a bonus. I know Big Fish is working hard to get rid of those but they are annoying when they occur.

If you like a nice solitaire or a challenging one I think this is a good one to try. Show less

Bought the collector's edition, and there were SO MANY levels. You could tell when the initial story wrapped up, and the bonus section began, and it just kept going and going. Nicely escalating difficulty as you went. Reasonable story for a solitaire game. Excellent graphics & music. Really enjoyed this one.

I didn't download and play this game when it was first available because the last Dreamland wasn't all that entertaining. Well, it was fine, but I thought it was just fine and I do love dragons!

My only critique is that the Fairy seems a wee bit 'obtuse' to the reality of what is going on...

If you like Solitaire with a decent challenge then please give this one a try and a buy!

I have all these games and this is one of the best. They added more obstacles like string and ice. You also have the spider, fire and branches to cut.

But this one!! WOW!!! I got the CE for a very low price (otherwise I wouldn't buy a CE solitaire game). The main plus of the CE is you get an extra 'land' (50 levels I think).

The developers have done almost EVERYTHING right...other reviews have mentioned those things but here's a few--
--STUNNING and I do mean STUNNING card/board graphics. The detail is amazing. Even the spider is beautiful lol. Cards are gorgeous--several backs to choose from. One minor negative is only 1 front, but I didn't mind that.
--Some REALLY COOL effects like the "walls" (I think that's what they are) where you get a hammer card and it zaps walls off the cards. Very cool. Also love the lantern dispelling the fog, and the torch making the spider go away. (Even a small detail here--you don't kill the spider, you just scare him off. I like that.)
--Layouts are not upside down, etc (hate that) and there's always enough cards to finish a layout.
--Cards do not duplicate, triplicate, ad nauseum (i.e., when there's 5 Queens on the tableau, and you keep turning over Queens...doesn't happen in this game, thankfully).
--Story is silly, cute, and engaging.
--BIG PLUS--Ambient sound can be turned off! YAY! I don't play w/ music or ambient sound but I do play w/ card sounds. Sound effects are very pleasant, satisfying and useful (i.e., there's a sound as well as a card that shakes, when you miss a move).
--I really enjoyed using the "mana" to put scenes together. Cute.
--3 modes. One is timed which means you get 8 seconds each time you turn over a card, if you don't make your move, it turns over another card. Clever, and a good challenge. The Easy mode uses 2 decks (I have not tried that).
--The layouts get harder and more complicated as the game progresses which is great fun. It is ALWAYS possible to finish all levels.
--Excellent shop! You have to THINK and PLAN for what you buy, as at first they seem expensive but eventually you can buy everything and then buy jokers to finish levels. But it takes quite a while to get to that point; it's fun and satisfying.

The one huge glaring NEGATIVE is there are moving backgrounds, which are completely unnecessary and extremely annoying. I cannot tolerate them at all due to vertigo issues; it makes some 'lands' in the game very unpleasant to play. I ended up taping paper on my monitor to cover the moving trees in the desert scene (the worst one). Please, please, please, NO waving, moving, nausea-inducing backgrounds!

Otherwise this game truly is a masterpiece. Dreamland Solitaire Dragon Fury is almost as good (but has even more moving backgrounds), and the original Dreamland Solitaire is also great--although ambient sound can't be turned off in those 2. All 3 are similar but Dark Prophesy is the best IMO because the developers listened and really polished the game.
Absolutely recommended if you want a gorgeous, challenging, but satisfying on every level solitaire experience!! Show less
