These games are not action packed adventure so I can see being disappointed if you thought they were but I have never read where they are offered as action packed or anything other than a good way to have some fun and they deliver on that. I buy these games as soon as the next one is available. They have a good variety of photos that you can stop at anywhere and pick back up with no problem. These are my absolute favorite games if I have a bit of time while doing something else, like making dinner, listening to an audio book, etc. It's also a lot of fun on it's own and I find myself addicted to them. The music is very nice but will admit I usually have an audio book going while I play these.
I could give a 1 star to a game I found I didn't care for but never do because someone else may love it, it's just not for me. Please don't let the low review stars keep you from trying this very relaxing, fun game. The pictures are nice, a good variety and I don't have any technical issues. I prefer them over all the "paint" games currently out there. There's just something about filling in those squares... My only comments to the developer would be to ask they PLEASE come out with holiday themed versions of this. I would buy them instantly! Show less

With the 15th I noticed that when I did the last picture and then clicked on the "next" arrow it showed me the next set of pictures (not sure if it showed all of them-I didn't realize what I was looking at when the time ended) This time I tried to do the last picture to see if it did work and the picture was so big I didn't even get finished in the trial.

Even though I do a lot of other games in other genres when I have a little time to kill or at the end of the night if I want to relax I always come back to my pixel arts. Someone mentioned some different ideas...wouldn't it be great to have a whole game where you don't know what the picture is going to be until you've colored it-and no outline either so it doesn't give it away. That would be amazing!!
I don't need hand-holding so if I can't find one of the last missing numbers I just enlarge it until I do. It's not rocket science-if you can't find something in one color go to another-I do agree that clicking on the color block does not always seem to register..not sure why since they seem to have it fixed for other games.

I don't know why these get such low ratings. I agree that it isn't everyone's cup of tea. And it could be better as far as having more hard ones, and much more color in the pictures. Make it more fun to do by the color and subject, yes.
But the reason I like these above the others is because,to me, they are the most like real painting and they do have some challenge, unlike some similar ones. Please

I thought I would add my two cents in the hopes that it will help someone on the fence about buying this game. I'm a bit late to the show because it took me some time to get through the first page.
I finally got through it, since like with the others in this series you have to do all of the pictures on the first page before being able to open up the rest of the pictures. I took one star off just for this reason.
The variety of pictures is better this time round than in the previous installment, which was more monotonous and had multiple pictures of ugly piggy banks and children's toys (there was one toy rabbit that was particularly gruesome in my opinion).
This time there are no repeats. The single-object pictures look more interesting. There is only one 'evil cat' picture. In Pixel Art 15 there were a bunch... an 'evil cat' picture is my term for a relatively high-resolution picture that takes ages to do and happens to be of some sort of cat.
Other than my beef with being limited to the first page during the demo, I don't like the fact that it is a little bit slow when filling in multiple pixels in a go. This is probably because each pixel filled is saved at the same time. There is an additional bug where sometimes if you hit one of the arrows just so on the palette scroll bar, you can end up messing the arrows up and you have to bang them around a few times to get things working again.
It seems easier to target the pixels though this time round but I find I still have to use the non-custom cursor.
I wish they would decrease the timer on the multi-fill functionality.
Other than those small issues with gameplay, this game runs perfectly fine on a MacBook Air running BigSur and with just the touchpad. This game supports tapping the touchpad to fill in a color.
This game looks like it provides hours of relaxing filling in of pictures and is thus good value for money. It's very bare bones but if you are a fan of pixel art, you should get a lot out of this game. Show less

This isn't so much a review of Pixel Art 16, as it is Pixel Art 15. After I purchased the game, I found that my positive comments were not what I would have said if I had waited to review after I purchased and opened the other levels.
Here is what I regret saying - I defended the need to see the other levels as I "have never been disappointed". That is not the case with #15. Upon completing level 1 and reviewing the remaining levels, I found that there were several images that catered more to a juvenile audience. In fact, one image of a Piggy Bank was used on three different levels!!! It was also one of the most juvenile of the images in the game!! Not nice Mr. Developer.
Also, enough with the wild cats. So far nearly every series I have purchased has at least two images of felines, both wild and domestic.
After searching the internet, I also found that there are several new games above what we are seeing on BFG already out for distribution on other sites. This may explain why none of our comments are taken into consideration. If a few new games have already been produced, they won't be able to address any of our comments/requests until those games already on the market are purchased. Of course that doesn't mean that once they start producing new games they will take our comments/requests into consideration.
I will probably purchase this game, but if the unopened levels are as disappointing as Pixel Art 15, it will be the last one I purchase. Show less

It's hard to go back to ordinary after playing extraordinary. Pixel Art is now a "dated" old-fashioned game with none of the features that the new kids on the block have to offer. Those other games have so many useful features that make an art game fun to play like maps that show the current color locations, features that tell you how many cells each color has available, and one of my favorites was choosing the desired colors shown as crayons versus just square color boxes which btw I have had issues where it's hard to click on new boxes in Pixel Art games, I've had to click 3-4 times before the color is accepted and don't get me started on how difficult it is to click the arrow to scroll to the next set of numbers (and what a pain in the rear it is to have to scroll back & forth between colored number sets!)

Although some of these images in Pixel Art 16 are more appealing than the last few games in the series, for the most part, these images are rather boring and lack "curb appeal". The chosen colors are bland, unappealing, and rarely pop with shades and hues that complement one another versus shades that muddle together like you just added a glob of red, yellow, and blue paint together to make a huge brown mess. You only get to see a handful of images from the first level in the demo, you can't even access the other levels to see the upcoming images!
Pixel Art is a computer version of Paint by Numbers, in a pixelated version. Each pixel has a number that is filled in with its corresponding color/number from the palette on the right side. You simply left-click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color, you can also hold the mouse button and swipe through large groupings of numbers. The auto-fill feature will fill in large groups of pixels when you double-click on a cluster of numbers, but that feature has to recharge after each use. (a sound alerts you when the auto-fill feature is available each time)
Other than the auto-fill, there are only a couple of other features or options offered...the same original features, nothing new has been updated since the first Pixel Art game! There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging.
You can also change the color of the Highlighted cells to various shades of grey. This is the area that Pixel Art games fails miserably. With most games, the current chosen number/color is highlighted with a shade that sticks out in a crowd so you can easily identify where the available cells are located, even without a map location feature.
In Pixel Art games, for some odd reason, several numbers/colors are shaded at the same time in the same area making it impossible to easily spot the numbered cells you are working on. This has never made sense to me, for example, if you click on the number 10 from the color palette, all cells with the number 10 will highlight in grey but so will other numbers like number 21, and number 18 so you'll have to search for number 10 cells jumbled in with several other grey-highlighted cells. It's a frustrating feature that defeats the purpose of a Zen painting game! Pixel Art isn't the only game in town anymore but they seem to think otherwise as they continue to ignore our requests for some improvements, which would be beneficial to them and us. Without upgrades to their features, tools and images they will be overtaken by the more entertaining competition.
Pixel Art offers more complexity in some of their images now but the first level is still an issue and we still can't view the finished picture for more than a blink of the eye. The darkly highlighted cells makes it hard for me to distinguish the numbers, thus turning a fun challenge into a long chore. The grey to black background doesn't really matter a great deal but it would be nice to have some color options.
There are 80 images, not amazing as described in the synopsis. It does take a long time to finish one, so the game will last and last. We all like the fill tool that is a time saver in large areas of all one color. The zoom feature is definitely helpful even for my spectacled vision. There are a lot of colors for more shading and detail but the color palette isn't vibrant or varied enough to do a good job at bringing beauty into the pictures. Also, when completed, they are so small and out of focus that any detail or beauty is totally lost.
If you think these things aren't important for an entertaining paint by numbers game, then you'll probably be happy with Pixel Art. For me it isn't a good value. I've totally fallen in love with another game that I think you are familiar with by now. With that one, the entertainment is extreme and the purchases are never regrettable! Show less
