I completed the SE version and found this to be a great game--full of intrigue and fun things to do. I loved everything about it but best of all the storyline. Really different and very clever! Its been a long time since I have found a game so delightful. Another take on the Nutcracker story, but well done.

Game moved along smoothly, HOS were inventive and the puzzles and games were challenging, but not frustrating. Totally enjoyed this great game.

I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed this game because all aspects of it were well-done. The storyline was actually interesting, the voice acting was good, the hidden object and puzzle games were varied and interesting, the artwork was pretty and Christmas-y, and it was a good length. I liked that we are given the ability to customize the options; that is the mark of a good games developer. There was a helper creature, but its use wasn't overdone, and it served to drive the narrative, instead of merely being an overly-cute inclusion for the pet-lovers. As I was playing it, I was regretting that I hadn't sprung for the Collector's Edition, which is an indicator of my enjoyment of the game. I'll have to check out the other games by Friendly Fox now, because they did a great job with this one. Show less

It has been ages since you have visited your Godfather, Drosselmeyer, and best friend Fritz and you are looking forward to spending the holidays with them. Maria and Fritz used to spend hours pretending they would open the gates of a Castle built by their godfather, which would allow them to enter the magical land of Speilland where toys ruled the kingdom...but that was just make-believe, right?

Collectibles/Morphing Objects:
This developer has my second favorite collectibles and morphs and they really add the perfect touch so if possible, I do suggest the CE version of this game for the additional content! There are 54 Morphing Objects which allow you to unlock Mechinacal Toys (at 4-10-22-38-54) and 54 Snowglobes (which they refer to as Snow Balls lol) which allows you to unlock the Snowglobes as you discover them (at 3-7-13-20-30-42-54) You will also unlock a Maze Puzzle after completing the Collectibles.

Gadget/Helper:
Mouse Claus to give you bits and pieces of the background story when you feed him, used 5 times.

Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 18 Hidden Object Scenes +7 in the CE Bonus Chapter. There is a repetitive HO where you have to feed a Santa Mouse in exchange for a background story where you replace items into the scene. This feature is used 5 times during the Main Chapters and is basically the same feature this developer uses in all of their games, they have just given it a Christmas-theme. There are also Interactive List Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Multiples of the Same or Similar Object, and Silhouetted Shape Finds, and several of the HO scenes have small puzzles to solve as well.

Mini-Games:
There are 29 Mini-Games +14 in the CE Bonus Chapter. There isn't really anything new presented here, they are mostly the same games that this developer offers with Christmas graphics added, but they are all doable and light-hearted. Here are some of my personal favorites:

1-Place chess pieces so that they don't share the same horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines.
2-Navigate a map while avoiding tin soldiers.
3-Untangle the ropes version.
4-Triangular Jigsaw Puzzle

Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
Maria has been invited to a Christmas party by the Mouse King when Pinniccho's quest to become human begins to create havoc and of course, it's up to you to save the day! There are 14 Mini-Games and 7 Hidden Object Scenes and you will continue searching for the final 16 Morphing Objects and 16 Snowglobes which will unlock the final Mechanical Toys and Snowglobes.
