The story is cute but I don't pay much attention to the story anyway. I play mostly for the game itself. You DO still have the option of making 1 mistake and getting 3 stars (not sure how that got mistaken). The depictions are excellent. Someone was complaining that it was a Christmas theme and it's the new year, but it wasn't presented as a new game, it was the "Daily Deal", although it does say "Helper New Year" so that may be a bit misleading. I found it just the right level of challenge - it's not an easy play. I have to agree that the hidden object games they throw in ARE too easy. Try it for yourselves because I think if you like Rainbow Mosaics you'll like this one. Show less

We have been fans of nonograms puzzles for many years. We prefer games that are challenging, have multiple (bright) colors and sense of whimsy. We find that the Rainbow Mosaic series meets these needs.
We are not fans of The Helper, but also he doesn't get in the way, or detract from the puzzles. We are there for the puzzles, not the story. Many of the puzzles are quite charming and inventive.

I recommend this game!

Rainbow Mosaics is becoming boring just like the penguins because nothing ever changes, diminishing the entertainment value.

I see no reason to keep buying the same thing over and over again. It has pretty much been the amount of puzzles and very cute images that has kept me hanging in there. But the images in the previous 3 releases, and today's, are missing that special quality that made this game so much fun for me. They lack those little details as in the earlier games. The demo was tedious as I finally reached the last of the pics that used to be so delightful to create.

The colors are still fabulous and the choices of tile styles are still great, the game always runs smoothly with quick response. I like the power-ups, especially the doggie but would be fun to have a couple of new ones. Earning enough coins for decorating is easy since the HO games can be replayed as you go, to obtain more whenever you like. I think a different way to decorate would be a nice improvement.

I do replay my older Rainbow Mosaics games after letting them sit for a while, so it's like new ones all over again. The entertainment in those will always remain. But now I see other devs creating mosaics with new helpful features, good stories, better images and mini-games.

Rainbow Mosaics IS a beautiful nonogram series with its logic-based puzzles and I love them until the more recent ones. There are many hours of puzzle solving to fill your idle time and for me it is always relaxing, even though the challenge can be quite frustrating sometimes. I'm not an expert player and restarting a puzzle many times is a pain in the neck, since I don't like taking the easy way out. Give it a try if you are on the fence about this genre. It is not as difficult as you may think and if you enjoy it, don't be surprised if you become addicted. Show less

There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of giving a Rainbow Mosaic game less than a 5-Star rating much less being on the fence with my decision of whether or not I needed to purchase a new game. They always had better features than the "penguin-themed" games, the colors were more vibrant, they had more tile selection options, and they always had a cute little story attached to them, but the last 8 games have been, "Helper does this, Helper does that", it's boring and I'm totally put off by it now!

When they released Detective Agency Mosaics, that game had an amazing storyline and had 16 Five star reviews with an incredible average rating of 5-stars so I think that proves that people ARE looking for a better plot, even in a Mosaic game, at least something that doesn't have a Helper theme. It just seems incredibly lazy on the developers part, it's boring and very unimaginative!

The last few games have added Hidden Object Scenes, which would be okay if they were somewhat challenging, but the Listed Objects still aren't hidden, they are just laying out in the open and they are the size of baby elephants. You can skip the HO scene, but you will earn a star for completing the scene, 2 stars for completing the scene using less than 2 hints, and 3 stars for completing the scene using one hint or less.

Fortunately, they have continued with the Tetris-style Mini-game that allows you to solve a puzzle to fill in a Mystery Number on each of the Mosaic Puzzles. You will come across a (?) Question Mark on each puzzle that hides one of the Numbers in a column or row. When you click on the (?) it activates a puzzle that requires you to drag all of the Tetris-style shapes into a grid without overlapping pieces. (btw: the puzzle shapes look really cool in the Lego-style tile selection) You can Skip the mini-game, and eventually, you will be able to figure out the hidden number by a process of elimination without having to click on the question mark, but I love this puzzle feature!

There are 130 Mosaic Levels with 18 Tile Styles ranging from beveled edges to themed tiles, but my favorite has always been the Lego-style tile. They have also added 2 Crossed-off tile options, one of which has a beveled or rounded edge, the other is the standard square edge. You can play in a Normal Mode which crosses off numbers one by one, or an Expert Mode which only crosses off the numbers when the entire row or column has been completed.

As you correctly fill in squares, you will earn coins that can be used to purchase Decorations or purchase upgrades for the Power-ups which are hint forms that will increase in the size of coverage with each upgrade. The Dog power-up opens a random right square, the Lightning power-up opens up a chosen square with no negative outcome, and the Lamp power-up opens a chosen grid area without a negative outcome. Are you trying to compete with the penguins developers?
Because these are getting just about as boring. Please some different characters and a much better story line. Some really like Helper, personally I can't stand him. I much preferred the Detective or even the one about aliens. I really like the Rainbow series mosaics but at this point I will go play one of the earlier ones.

I own all the rainbow mosaic games. I found this one more difficult than the previous ones, but helper is getting old.
There is one big difference between this game and the rest.
In the other games, you could make one mistake and still get credit for a 'perfect' game. Now one mistake counts against you.
Unless the next game is the next in the Detective series, I will not be buying it.

I don't recommend this game.
