Finally, something has changed! They have added a few different HO variants, Mirror Reflections where the words are mirrored as well as the screen (as it would be reading the word "ambulance" in a rearview mirror), and Spot the Difference. I love "spot the differences" scenes but ONLY when they make subtle changes to the scenery, which isn't the case here. All you have to do is click on objects that have been added to the scene and in this case, the objects are huge and hard to miss!
One of the biggest reasons I don't feel the need to purchase these games lately is because the items never change position when you replay the levels, which is a requirement to earn the necessary stars to unlock the next level in order to progress, therefore, it can get boring quickly. Sometimes they add a couple of new objects to the repeated scenes, but all the objects are in the same position every time you replay the game.
You can play in 3 different modes, a Relaxed Untimed Mode, 10-Minute Timed Mode, or a 3-Minute Timed Mode to complete each level. You will earn a single star on each HO location and the next location requires 2-3 stars to unlock it. The Hidden Object Modes change each time you replay a scene, between Listed Item, Silhouetted Shapes, Scrambled Letter Modes, and the two new variants, Mirror Reflection and Spot the Differences. Because the objects themselves never move, you can basically guess at the objects by the time you roll around to the silhouetted shapes, and scrambled letters and get 99% of them right!
Each scene has a Lazy Turtle to discover (once you find him he won't appear when you replay the same scene in a different mode) There are trivia facts before visiting each location as well. I STILL think the developers need to use their Lazy Turtle Logo versus the cheap plastic turtle because this developer's Lazy Turtle Logo is one of the coolest logos I've seen. He's an adorable "lazy" turtle wearing a sombrero and leaning up against a palm tree. If they used a semi-transparent image of this logo and hid it in each scene it would be much more challenging to spot, which is the point of a hidden collectible that isn't on the list! (free advertising never hurts either!)
Anyone else think it's creepy that the daughter packed mom & dad suitcases for their latest vacation?
The Hudson Family's trip locations include:
~Ontario, Algonquin Provincal Park
~Vancouver
~Victoria, British Columbia
~Toronto
~Quebec City
~Toronto, The Distillery District
~Toronto, Toronto Harbor
~Alberta, Lake Minnewanka
~Vancouver, Whistler
~Toronto, Chinatown
~Alberta, Train Trip
~Vancouver, Gastown
~Quebec, Ice Hotel
~SGang Gwaay, British Columbia
~New Brunswick, Hopewell Rocks Park
Mini-Games Available:
~Jigsaw
~Forest Solitaire
~Travel Cards (Matching Card Pairs)
~Winter Animals (Restore picture puzzle)
~Canada Cities (Word Search)
I'm really glad this developer is making changes, but the bottom line is that the objects are huge and not so "hidden" Because the objects never move position from one variant to another, the HO's are super easy to spot. The "Travel To" games are always very easy and always the same. It doesn't take long for boredom to take over although it isn't a disaster. The Hidden Object modes break up the monotony a little bit but there isn't much challenge in any of the choices. There are several Play Modes, I always choose Relaxed for demos to quicken the pace, but I like the Timed Modes more. The HOs are of average difficulty to find, some are very well hidden. They always seem to be in the same location when the levels are replayed and that's what causes a lot of the boredom.
The games are okay, nothing we haven't seen before. A new Difference game has been added to today's release, but it's as challenge-free as the others. Still it is fun and always my favorite amongst mini games. The Trivia Facts are fun, although I found some to be inaccurate in previous games. I don't know how spot-on they will be for Canada. Just saying that good research should be a priority for this feature in any game. The graphics are very good. I think they are sharper than in "Travel to Germany". The locations are very busy and super colorful.
I own a few of the earlier games in this series and they were fun, but as time went on they never evolved and without changes it makes no sense to buy any others if they are all just the same. The "Travel To" games are appealing if you want something relaxing without a bunch of features and no story to follow. No age or skill requirements needed. Just hit Play and enjoy a few hours of quiet time. Show less

I did not like that the scenes were repeated with the first find, then 2nd shadow finds, then the third one all with the same items and background.I do not want to look at the same backgrounds over and over. I don't care even a tiny bit about the stories connected to the games, my only concern is can I skip all the dialog at once, or do I have to click on each page to move forward.

Finding the items gave a reasonable challenge, although not very difficult, but like another reviewer said, the items are just tossed onto the page without any thought to disguise or background.
This review is based on the one hour free play. I will not be purchasing this game.

Not a fan of HO games that are nothing more than junk piles of items that are scattered willy-nilly over the screen and not of proportional size.

I do not enjoy this type of game. I like most of the travel games but there are a few I just can't stand. I never can remember which they are until I try them out. This is one of those type games. I was really looking forward to seeing some of the gorgeous Canadian scenery. But after two VERY ANNOYING GAME PLAY DUE TO AWFUL MIXED UP LETTERS, I ended up just WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY. Such a shame that the Developer did NOT ALLOW OPTION to CHANGE to NORMAL SPELLING!!
I don't recommend this game.
