Based on demo, casual play. Bought the game 'cause it's lots and lots of fun.

I always read what Penmom33 and Sunnyglow (who hasn't chimed in yet as I'm writing this) have to allow. Most of the time, I agree with their take, and this is no exception.

I always read what Penmom33 and Sunnyglow (who hasn't chimed in yet as I'm writing this) have to allow. Most of the time, I agree with their take, and this is no exception.

BUT...

It seems the tile colors depend on your computer. Penmom had problems differentiating between certain shades, while on my laptop everything is crystal clear. That's normal. Hers probably outshines mine in other areas because computers are not created equally.

I no longer do well under timed pressure, ergo my M3's are always played in Casual Mode. The cool thing about this game is that you aren't penalized for playing in cazh mode. Most M3's take away stars, points, whatever, as if one is unworthy for not playing Timed. Lord have mercy!

There is no option to skip the tutorial, but for once the little pop ups are far from annoying. A forced tutorial is usually a deal-killer for me, but not this time. The whole presentation is just adorable, but then I have a weak spot for red-headed kids and old hippies. :b

The objective is to delay finishing each level until you've matched as many tiles with tiny coins as possible. On level completion, you can immediately return and gather up more gelt before heading to the scoreboard. And blow up more stuff. Heh heh heh.

The cost of building is just right - no need to play for 20 minutes to earn enough coins to build the next amusement.

All in all, this is a bright, cheerful game, just right to play in casual mode by yourself or with the grandkids. Show less

My review is based on the demo but I will purchase it as soon as I finish this review. This game is cute and enjoyable. You can play each level over to gain more coins to build a theme park for kids. This game is ridiculously hard and that is what makes it so addicting. You do gain power ups but use them wisely they are not abundant. If you like a challenge jump in.

I recommend this game!

I've played this game for a while beyond the trial and like it. The monkeys are not that bad.

What I dislike is the totally non-transparent scoring. There is no running score, and there is no way of knowing the value of continuing to play after winning the level, When the score is given, its amount is totally mysterious. if that were fixed, this could be a good game.

I recommend this game!

I found this game complicated with the skulls because I couldn't get rid of them as easily as most things in the game and Match Three Pirates! The Heir to Davy Jones was also 4 stars for the same reason but I tried this one on limited moves it was just as complicated

I recommend this game!

Ce jeu fait partie des matchs 3 corrects avec lesquels on peut se détendre sans se prendre la tête.

First of all, I adore this developer and think they have a heart of Gold! With that being said, I will always be honest with my reviews. I try to list all of the game mechanics available so others can decide if the game may appeal to them, the Star-Rating is simply my PERSONAL experience with the game so just because I wasn't thrilled with some of the game's aspects, it certainly doesn't mean it's a mediocre game, it just means that it didn't fit my personal preferences, we all enjoy different things, that's what makes this such a beautiful world :) I will go one step further, if I didn't enjoy a game but thought the game was well-made and may appeal to the masses, I will leave the "Recommend This Game?" Yes/No tab unchecked. If I believe a game is simply dreadful and the developers didn't put forth much effort, I will click the No tab.

You can choose from 3 different difficulty modes, a Hard Mode which has Limited Moves and includes Pests & Skulls Obstacles, a Normal Mode which has no Move Limits but does include Pests & Skulls Obstacles, or a Relaxed Mode with no Move Limits, and no Pests or Skulls Obstacles. The only time I opt for a Limited Moves Mode is when a Match 3 game is strategy-based, unfortunately, this game doesn't really require carefully plotting out your next move. it's just a normal Match 3 game where technically you are at the mercy of where the icons fall. (this isn't a bad thing, it's just how most M3's work, which is my point) They should have included a Limited Time Mode as well and then given us the option to enable/disable the Pests & Skulls on every mode.

The icons are Pirate-related but some of the tiles were too identical in color and I did have issues telling them apart at times, especially if they included the Coin feature that partially covers the icon. Some of the Icons have a small coin on the top corner to earn more gold which is used to build the amusement park and purchase boosters. There are also Treasure Chests to collect which contain more Gold when an adjacent match is made. After completing the level goals, you can opt to continue playing for more Gold or end the game and purchase a new attraction.

There are the usual Obstacles such as Ropes and Crates as well as Mischievous Monkeys who throw bananas that nail down tiles when you aren't looking, or the Jolly Roger Skull & Bones that multiply with every match made. Evil Voodoo Masks block parts of the board and require an adjacent match or Bomb to destroy them.

Large Matches of 4 or more will reward you with a Bonus on the board, such as Bombs or Line Busters. You can also combine Bonuses to create Super Bonuses. Boosters unlock at specified levels, once purchased you can add up to 4 Bonuses at the start of the level.

I wish there was a way to skip the dialog completely. The story seemed over-the-top with excessive Pirate lingo and grammatical errors that made it difficult to understand at times between the pirate lingo and errors. I would also like to see icons with less similar colors (a ton of brows/tans that don't stand out from one another), perhaps some move vivid colors would be helpful? The biggest issue is that you can only play in a Limited Moves Mode (or a Relaxed) which is usually the least-favorite mode for Match 3 fans. The Pesky Monkeys were really annoying to me personally but I didn't mind the skulls or other obstacles. Having a separate option to enable/disable these 2 major obstacles would be fantastic! I agree whole heartedly with what Pennmom is saying that we are all different and there are aspects of this game that will appeal to some and not others. This is the same with any game but what I can 100% say is that this developer listens and relys on us reviewers so he can change the game to make it more enjoyable to more.

This for me is a very retro game before all the flash stuff came out and I admire this, every now and then it is good to take us back, it is not a fast game and there are several suggestions I would like to make.
This game really needs to cater for those who want a timed mode as well but feel as it stands this game is not fast paced enough to offer a timed mode as it stands.

I found the relaxed mode too easy even for me. Even in relaxed you need enemies otherwise it just becomes too boring.

The bonuses I feel was a let down here. For a start the wrong bonuses were offered to start. It is so expensive to buy these bonuses and they only can be used once and you can only buy one of each in each level.
This for me needs a rethink.
I am well in to this game now and still can not remove just one tile, I can swap so it sort of removes a tile but just a hammer or a small explosion earlier on would be much better.

Although this is the same music from the previous game I like it, adding the pirate feel to it.
Needs a bit of TLC but with a developer that listens I am sure we can get this sorted, another game by this developer needed some sorting and he listened and now those games are brilliant as he took on what we were all saying.

Not a bad game but not up there also. Show less

I like building games a lot. Although an amusement park isn't related to the pirate based adventure it was than upgrading the ship in the previous game. There's a decent variety of obstacles and the bonuses aren't spectacular but a bit of fun was still there. The music was a catchy little tune that I soon wanted to turn off. The swashbuckling dialog was too much, all the pirate lingo became annoying. The scenes were bright and colorful with their cartoon style artwork which I thought more appealing to younger players rather than adults.

Not a bad game but there are much better pirate Match3s on BFG. This one doesn't hit the excellent mark but it was enjoyable if not looking for lots of fireworks, bells and whistles. It's nice having the various game modes, not everyone enjoys the stress that comes with limited moves or timers.

Although this game doesn't "float my boat" in Match 3 entertainment, I'm sure others will find it quite enjoyable. Graphium Studio are amongst the better devs on BFG, I own quite a few of their games. Show less

At first it seems like the game is for children, but then it becomes obvious that it is rather difficult and you must use some strategy to figure out how to win. You don't move things "off" the board but rather make enough matches beside or around them to eliminate the particular object.
