I've always loved this developer and this is a great new series. I only played the demo but the time went by fast. The graphics are really cool. I love the robot mummy helpers. I had to do a couple of levels twice but it was fun to figure out. There are some neat extra challenges that I'm still trying to figure out. I like finding the secret hidden button on each level, not sure what they do yet. ...Show more

I love Ancient Egyptian culture with all those pyramids, animal-headed gods, myths, mummies and worship of cats. And I was really happy to see a new game based on it. Worrying about a few previous reviews, I decided to play a demo first. But everything was fine, the game worked perfectly on my laptop, and I quickly realized that I fell in love with this game!

It’s so beautiful, colorful and fascinating, full of funny details (mummies as workers, battering ram crashing the gate while you try to collect resources and prepare the trap on time and making you really feel yourself inside besieged city, Bastet’s totem helping you to move faster than cats, interesting ways to defeat the Roman soldiers, nice-looking Hapi and much more) and additional brainteasers (like to find the right order of offerings opening the way to hermit’s hut). The graphics are high quality and pleasing to the eyes. The music is funny and not annoying. The plot is exciting and extraordinary. The gameplay is well known to all the fans of time management games (especially Hercules and Megara series) but has unique features and a nice level of challenge.

Playing as a charming Queen Cleopatra, you may improve your charm level (which is funny but logically for me). That's a pretty interesting feature adding new unique strategy elements in the gameplay. You can increase your charm level improving the equipment (i.e. Cleopatra’s clothes, jewelry and pieces of décor) for stars in the separate window as well as visiting beauty salons and fountains of youth on the levels. Equipment increases charm level permanently, and visiting salons or fountains works for the current game level only.

Charm level helps you during the playing two ways: it helps to defeat (for Cleopatra it means “kiss”, lol) some enemies and makes available different bonuses (move faster, work faster, more resources etc.) So, there appears an additional thing to think about while you play a level, I mean the question what to do right now: to spend resources for visiting a beauty salon and get necessary bonuses, or remove the obstacles first, and then visit the salon, or not visit the salon at all. Plus, after getting bonuses for charm levels and equipment it’s much easier to go back to the previous levels you completed with 1-2 stars and replay them for 3 stars or beat developer’s records.

All the above makes this game great for me! Definitely worth a try demo at least! Show less

At first I was not too impressed with this game but then it came alive for me. The further you get in the game the more skills you improve. This allows you to bit by bit get gold stars on those levels you missed the last way through. I found this level of challenge very addicting. I enjoy playing games through this developer and it makes a change to play a game based on Egypt rather than Greece all the time

I have not been a great fan of the last few offerings from this developer, but this one is really engaging. One word of warning as for all the new games from this dev..you will most likely need a 64 bit computer to be able to play it.

But if you can, it moves well, the graphics are clear even if the reason such things as the beauty salon giving you bonuses isn't lol. But you soon get the hang of what's what.

All the bells and whistles are here, there are achievements, and bonuses are earned by playing the levels...and then there are super bonuses you earn by playing the levels and upgrading till you have enough regular stars to buy a 'super booster'..or just beat the dev's time to gain one automatically. There is a hidden object tor on each level and they are marked in the strategy guide and on your map.

One thing that did confuse me was when selecting game mode it said I could change my mind later from easy, normal or expert..and I thought 'oh you must be able to toggle'?. But I honestly couldn't see how either in settings or any other button without beginning again. (that's how they lost a star) At least for the hidden objects if you miss one you can just nick back in, grab it and leave.

The tutorial uses dialogue so you have to read that for a while, and it wont let you move on till you do what it says..but you can turn that off.

It not the most whizz bang game of all time, but its a solid, build, gather, upgrade gameplay with a decent level of challenge and the bonuses add a bit of novelty. Enjoy! Show less

Overall this is a very good game and plenty of different things to keep you occupied.
Others will give more game detail but there are a couple of things that prevented me giving this 5 stars.

As usual with this developer you get green rings around the moves you can make,I would rather there was some way to turn this off for even more of a challenge.

I just feel it is too easy to have where you can go light up.

I thought the beauty salom a bit non pc but fortunately that turns in to the fountain of youth after a few levels.

A word of warning, I got to level 10 and struggled to complete this , then my demo time ran out and I was wondering if there was a fault . I was a bit hesitant to buy this, but thanks to joybelle whom is much quicker than me I found out that you need to crack the code and complete it in the right order so bear that in mind.

Try the demo, see what you think. I have now purchased and it is enjoyable .

As to is it CE worthy, the jury is out on that one as just 10 extra levels and a strategy guide basically. I have been using the guide to locate the hidden objects as some of them are more hidden than in previous games. Show less

This game is ok. You can tell it's a "Hercules" game due to the fact that all the "hidden objects" have an H on them. Cleopatra and Caesar don't act much like leaders, waffling between diplomatic heads of state and whiney teenagers. I also feel badly that they turned Anubis into a bad-guy, but that's what these games are all about... they need a villain.

The game play is good and the story line is ok. I haven't had any of the glitches - so far - that others are talking about. And it doesn't help that you simply don't know/can't tell what the boosters do. (Took me a while to figure out what the "beauty parlor" - seriously?! - did to help the game.)

So, taken with a grain of salt, this game is ok. If you like the Hercules games, you'll probably like this one. Show less

Came here from another website. This game is my first strategy game and I hope to find here more. Love the colors, a bit too detailed for me, but it is Ok. Music is not disturbing.
I played a trial and bought it immediately!
Cleopatra defeating enemies with a kiss is funny :-)

It's nice to see a TM game among this month's offering of never-ending HO sagas, cheap 'art' games and cookie-cutter solitaires, but this isn't on a par with the more inventive Hercules games by the same devs. Almost every level has the same goal--'repair the bridge'. That should tell you something! (I also object to the careless rendering of Egyptian mythology; if you're going to make a game featuring the Egyptian gods, get them right! (Or any other mythology, for that matter.) If they wanted a divine villain, Set was right there to be employed. Come on guys, kids know this sort of thing nowadays, thanks to Rick Riordan and others).

The dialogues are quite funny, although they do obstruct you when you're trying to start the level, as other reviewers have commented. I just wish there was more to do than clearing the path and mending the bridge.

Still like it better than the Megara games, though. Show less
