Christmas Stories Alice’s Adventures is a breath of fresh air after months of the darker games that came out to celebrate the fall season and Halloween. Thankfully, or perhaps I should say hopefully, we are now past that as we celebrate a more festive and happier time of year. Alice’s Adventure is a family game and one that can be played with younger members of the family to celebrate the Christmas holidays. I’m not going to rehash the storyline since you will see that for yourself but I will tell you that this is a beautiful and colorful game full of the magic that I look forward to in this series. The graphics are beautiful and the characters are terrific. The gameplay is entertaining and filled with wonderful HOPS and great puzzles even though they are fairly easy. This is a light-hearted game intended to lift your spirits and to bring some festive moments to your life.

There is variety in the HOPS and some are quite well-crafted. Most of the puzzles are familiar and when you play as many HOPA games as I do, you don’t expect that there will be much that is new. I love searching scenes that are filled with Christmas themed items and playing puzzles that are related to the season as well. For me this is a relaxing game filled with wonder and fun that brings out my inner child.

Although many might not like this sort of game, I love Christmas games and look forward to them each year, so for me this is perfect. Alice’s Adventures is a fun-filled romp through snowy and festive scenes as she tries to restore the luster to the Christmas Star. Even though this is the perfect kick-off to the holiday season for me, as always, please try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming! Show less

I was a little apprehensive going into the demo, thinking it might be too much of a child's game. Boy, was I wrong! This is a game for anyone who loves fantasy and Christmas and has a thriving imagination. I have never seen such an abundance of Christmas cuteness, everything was simply adorable. Each scene was interactive, clicking an item would cause a reaction or sound. The birds and critters were darling and added extra beauty to the game. The characters, costumes, vocal expressions were excellent. Except, hard as I tried, I could not love that Chesire Cat. He moved at a snail's pace when his help was needed, and he just looked weird!

The puzzles and HOPs were very different, I thought. Lots of interactivity and the HOPs were great fun with all the Christmas goodies to search through and I felt the challenge was quite good. The map worked beautifully. The hint and skip settings could be customized in the game modes,

I am sure Alice will save the day and save Christmas for everyone, It will be a fun time following along in her endeavor to make everything right. I didn't meet up with her before my time expired...as I mentioned earlier, I was easily sidetracked and became a looky-loo instead of traveling on into the game. So rather than sitting on the fence any longer, I must purchase this delightful, bright little star to add to my Imagination Treasures.

This is perfect for the family, no matter what age or skill level. Quality family-friendly games are definitely in short supply in our fish pond. Maybe Santa will bring some more, if we wish really hard! This one gets 5 stars from this old child!

I absolutely loved this game! It was one of if not the most gorgeous game I've ever played. It's full to the brim with all kinds of Christmas decorations and the attention to detail is pure perfection!
Was the game a little on the easy side? You betcha, but I play alone and also with the kids and grandkids so I like that they could also play with me or all by themselves Also at this time of year who really wants a really hard headbanging game, not me that's for sure. With all the shopping, wrapping, cleaning, baking, as well as working when I set down to play a game I want fun, beauty and enjoyment not something frustrating and this game delivered in a big way!! I'm so glad I purchased the CE edition!
The game really was not that much easier than most of the games I've played this past year, so I'm not really understanding all the negative reviews. It appears to me they needed to play this game more than I did because it's a game all about losing the Christmas spirit and I/You must bringing it back to the world!
I loved it so much I'm about to play it all over again. I say Thank You and Bravo to Elephant games! My favorite of all the Christmas games that have been put out so far.
I also loved the Puss in Boots, Gift of the Magic, Tin Soldier, and The Christmas Spirit: Mother Goose's Untold Tales, hated Christmas Stories: Nutcracker!

The story is dumb, but who does this for great reading? With the exception of The Great Gatsby. That HO was was playable over and over. But I digress.

The puzzles are hard. Maybe too hard. I skipped a few. The HO scenes were top notch, but I needed a few hints which isn't normal for me. The music is perfect. Turn the voices off, I found the accents weird and distracting.

I recommend this game!

Wonderland's Queen of Hearts has found a way to enter our world, and with no Wonderland to feed our dreams, we have no imagination! Without imagination, we can't believe, without believing, we can't imagine Santa! Without believing in Santa, we can't have Christmas! Without Christmas, people all around the world have become grumpy non-believers, breaking Santa's jolly 'ole heart ღ But then Alice made her Christmas wish, and Santa knew exactly what to do! Alice didn't wish for a present, she wanted to go on an adventure filled with danger, magic, and of course, a cunning villain! Santa has put all of his trust into Alice if she can't restore the Christmas spirit, Christmas will never be, Santa will never exist!

Note of explanation to clear up any confusion of why I speak highly of the game throughout my review yet only gave it a 3 Star rating: This would make a wonderful Christmas game to share with the family, however, I don't think seasoned HOPA players will enjoy it as much. My rating is simply based on my personal playing experience, but I do believe this game would be fun for the kids and even for those who just want to...Believe ღ

As with most Christmas-themed Adventure games, we get a Helper, the Cheshire Cat. (in the CE & SE versions) What this game lacks the most for me personally, is the Awe factor, because, in my opinion, the characters aren't very cute or adorable, in fact, the only cute or appealing character is the Queen's Knave because he's a kid. The Cheshire Cat is just creepy looking and he repeats the same thing every time you use him (7 x's in the Main Chapter) In the Collector's Edition version, there are 27 Morphing Hats (why a hat instead of something Christmassy like Santa's, Presents, Elves or Reindeer?) and 48 Hidden Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces that allow you to assemble Four 12 Piece Puzzles to set as Screensavers, and there are 12 Collectible Character Statues.

This game is designed to be played by kids or as a family because it is extremely easy. The Mini-Games are simplistic, The HOS's are whimsical and light-hearted and if you've played HOPA's before, you'll know exactly what is used where, when and why, but that's okay, it's Christmas and a Christmas game SHOULD be a family-oriented game that isn't frustrating, or contain questionable material. This is a game in which I'm confident recommending for children (or the child within) of just about any age.

The CE Bonus Chapter is a different story that takes place after Tom receives a letter from Uncle Ebenezer Scrooge declining his offer to visit him for the holidays. The characters are all cats, and again, it would be more appealing if the characters had more of an awe factor. The CE Bonus Chapter has 6 Mini-Games and 7 Hidden Object Scenes and you will pick up the remaining 3 Character Statues, the last 12 Puzzle Pieces to assemble the final Screensaver and there are 10 Morphing Hats remaining (I didn't see an option to go back and search for missing morphs or collectibles but I hadn't missed finding any either) There are 2 Gadgets within the BC, a Magic Camera (used 3 x's) and Christmas Spirit (used 3 x's)

Some of the Hidden Object Scenes had well-hidden objects, and a few of the scenes were fairly unique. Most of the HOS were Interactive Listed Item finds, but there are also scenes where you Replace Items into the Scene logically, Uncover Matching Pairs hidden behind other objects, Silhouetted Shape finds, Rotate Dick Rings to align objects and one that I found rather clever, even though the logic was a little absent, finding two objects where one object + another object = a Snowball. There are also several Zoom Zone HOS and Achievements associated with finding objects quickly, w/o using hints, w/o making mistakes etc.

The Mini-Games are purposely designed for the younger audience and for the kid in everyone. They aren't intended to cause stress or frustration, they are just easy-breezy lighthearted puzzles that can be enjoyed as a family together, and that's alright by me. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter throughout Alice's Christmas Adventure:

1-Place mirror shards into the frame correctly.
2-Spot 6 differences between 2 images.
3-Rotate snowflake parts to match the snowflake on the left.
4-Repeat the sequence of ringing bells x2.
5-Swap charms along paths to match the order shown.
6-Rotate bumpers & interact with the scene to guide the snowball.
7-Match 4 tiles to create a Heart, then match Hearts to fill the meter.
8-Find 12 footprints using a magnifying glass.
9-Arrange character sections on dowels from large to small.
10-Rotate tiles to recreate the image.
11-Fill the board with more hearts by eliminating your opponent's pieces.
12-Move frames to 3 sweets that resemble features of each kid.
13-Press Defend or Attack buttons when the dial is w/in the green zone.
14-Drag a line to connect all tiles that aren't blocked.
15-Swap ornaments that share similar traits to match the clue shown.
16-Set up a sequence of directional moves for the train to follow.
17-Draw lines to connect matching colored clouds w/o crossing paths.

The Collector's Edition version has 18 Wallpapers, 13 Concept Art Picture, 4 Screensavers (collect 12 jigsaw puzzle pieces for each screensaver) 5 Music Soundtracks, 12 re-playable Mini-Games, 11 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 20 Achievements to Earn, 48 Hidden Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces (to complete 4 screensavers) 27 Morphing Hats, 12 Collectible Character Statues, 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a built-in Strategy Guide, enjoy saving Christmas Alice!

This is a Christmas game about the spirit of Christmas, a great idea but for me, the story turns into a lot of fetch and carry, not a favorite task of mine in HOPA games. Nonetheless, the graphics are gorgeous so I enjoyed the scenery as I ran back and forth, hoping the story would take hold.

That said, this is a good family game, full of good cheer, with the occasional bah humbug character who eventually gets into the spirit. The hidden object games are quite good and the puzzles easy but sometimes a bit confusing in what is needed. However, that may be my issue and not the game's.

The graphics are very good, but I didn't like the cat -- he wasn't charming! The game is fairly easy but there is a lot of back and forth to pick up objects that you don't use right away. I found that rather annoying. Always try to see if you like it.

I have the other games in the series, so was excited for a new one. Only played half of the demo. Its for inexperienced players. Graphics and story were poor. Games were too easy. Overall just not on the same par as the others.

I don't recommend this game.
