When Prince Gradlon from the Lutetia Kingdom first met Princess Tehda of Y's, they fell hopelessly in love with one another. Their bond united the rocky relationship between the two kingdoms, but jealousy reared its ugly head dooming Y's and all who lived there. The mythical city of Y's, has been swallowed by an unforgiving sea, decaying past the point of no return for centuries. Y's is nothing more than an Atlantian tale now, lost and all but forgotten, until today! The Myth Seekers have discovered an ancient artifact that could shine the light on the city and all its glory, or bring with it all the darkness of its seedy past!
Bravo Sunward Games! I loved the storyline, puzzles, and Hidden Object Scenes, however, as far as a Collector's Edition version goes, this one doesn't offer a whole lot. If not for today's sale, I may have waited to purchase it because there are no morphs, and not very many re-playable games, etc. it almost border's on being CE Blingless! There are Collectible Ysian Masks in nearly every scene, but they aren't very challenging to find, and there's no option to return to the scenes to pick up any Masks you may have forgotten to look for.
The Hidden Object Scenes are awesome! I rarely find HOP's to be challenging nowadays because the items are never hidden, they are just laying amongst a junk pile, but I found myself staring at more than one scene as I tried to find some of the objects because they were blended so well (the rat took me forever!) Although they are mostly Interactive Listed Item Finds, there are also Progressive~Interactive Silhouetted~Shape Finds, Fragmented~Shape Finds (frogs) Multiples of the same object Finds, and Pictured Item Finds. There are only 10 HOP's offered (+2 in the CE BC) not including the 3-4 Story Progression, Keywords in Sentence Finds because they are considered Mini-Games here. There is an alternate Pair~Matching mini-game available that's actually kind of fun.
The Mini-Games are all doable kind of puzzles. There are 26 Actual Mini-Games (as listed by Sunward as mini-games, not Hop's) Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorites in this game:
1-Rotate hands/pipes to allow energy to flow from the bottom to 3 crystals on top.
2-Slide gargoyles until each row matches the gargoyles on the left.
3-Move the silver ball thru every point only once.
4-Move triangle puzzle pieces by rotating diamond-shaped sections.ღ
5-Use directional arrows to navigate according to the landmark clues.
6-Place colored wires into each partial symbol to recreate the color-coded symbols shown.
7-Swap & rotate circular stone tokens to recreate a picture.
8-Click up to 16 Musical notes to guide the bird to the Soul Amulet. ღ
9-Flip over 2 tokens at a time to find matching pairs of symbols.
The CE Bonus Chapter isn't very impressive, but prequels aren't my favorite, I'd much rather continue with the main story or delve into the detail of a missing link scenario. You play as a Baker's apprentice in Y's along with his Ferret Miffy. There's a lot of "Find this, place that, go here, go there's" but there's only 3 Mini-Games and 2 Hidden Object Scenes in the entire fairly lengthy bonus chapter. You will complete the Collection of the final 5 Ysian Masks as well.
This Collector's Edition version has 8 Wallpapers (yeah! no character's to ruin the beautiful scenery) 8 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Movie Video Cutscenes, 8 Re-Playable Hidden Object Scenes, 8 Re-Playable Mini-Games, 18 Story-Based & 10 Skill-Based Achievements, 27 Collectible Ysian Masks (7~8~7~5 of each type) 6 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

The music complements the storyline, and I really enjoyed listening to it. I found the graphics better than average and not distracting. For the first time in a long time, I enjoyed the hidden object scenes, looking for objects and interacting. They were integral to the game, just like the minigames.
I am not big on collectibles (and there are no morphs to find); in this game, collectibles were quite obvious so little challenge. The game does seem to offer an interesting set of achievements.
My review is based upon completed play of the main game. I have to yet to play the Bonus Chapter but am looking forward to it. It is a prequel. Show less

The Sunken City is the second game in the Myth Seekers series and, at least for me, it is much better than the first game. The Sunken City takes place four years after your search for Vulcan’s Hammer that was featured in the first game. As with that game there is a lot of mystery as you search to unlock the secrets of the ancient kingdom of Ys. Since anything to do with ancient civilizations is one of my passions, this game was an instant purchase for me.
Even though the overall game is excellent with a storyline that kept me wanting more as I moved through the game, I still felt that the graphics tended to be sub-par. The characters seemed flat and at times rather cartoonish many of the scenes lacked the depth and detail that are found in games by other developers. That being said, the storyline and the mini-games made up for the deficit in graphics.
The HOPS scenes highlighted the deficit with the graphics as they were very grainy and misty, which made the items difficult to spot. Although there is an alternate matching game available it was almost more difficult than finding items in the scenes so it was rather useless and, as a result, I did need to rely on the hint button several times in order to complete the scenes. The MINI-GAMES were fun but once again we have a game where there are far more mini-games than there are HOPS. Some of the mini-games are challenging but most seem to be easily solvable so there is at least something for everyone. Another weakness in the game is that the Strategy Guide does not include complete information on solving a mini-game but only shows a graphic of the solution and even though you know what the solution looks like, the guide does not include the steps required to get there. IMHO, this makes the Strategy Guide unnecessary.
As I mentioned the storyline is excellent and the gameplay kept me engaged I happen to enjoy moving back and forth between scenes when playing a game so that I actually need to use my brain to remember where an item should be used. Because I enjoyed the overall game (which made it worth 5 stars) I can overlook the graphics as being a minor irritation. For me the game seems quite long as I have been playing for several hours and have not yet played the bonus game. Even though I did purchase the game, I always recommend that you try the demo to see if the game is one you will enjoy. Happy gaming! Show less

I really enjoyed this game. The story was original and *very* interesting. The graphics, the music, and the voice-acting were all great. The Map can be used to see the various locations as well as to get to any location that is available to visit.
Since this *is* a Collector's Edition, we get a Bonus Chapter and Achievements, of course. As far as the first is concerned, it is really not related to the main story at all. Just an add-on, obviously only because it *is* a Collector's Edition. Briefly, it is just a story of a little boy who was caught in what the game description calls "the legendary cataclysm that wiped out an ancient civilization." So, again, it has absolutely nothing to do with the main game itself.
As for the Achievements, they are all rather... well, nominal. They are divided into three groups. The first group is called Story-Based Achievements, and consists of 18 achievements. But then, they are really not "achievements" at all. In fact, I don't know why game developers even *call* them achievements, since you get them *automatically* as you proceed in the game and thus have nothing to do with player skills at all.
The second group *is* called Skill Based Achievements, but there are only 10 of these, and all pretty easy to get actually. [Note: There is actually a typo in the achievement called "Rapid Reflexes," which is said to require finishing "HIdden Object PuzzleS in 45 seconds without hints." I have capitalized the last "S" in "Puzzles" because *that* is the typo, suggesting we have to finish several - perhaps even ALL - the HOP's in 45 seconds without using any hints. In fact, you have to finish only ONE HOP this way to get the achievement. You are welcome. :) ]
Finally, we have to find a total of 27 collectibles spread throughout the main game and the Bonus Chapter. All of them are *really* easy to find, so long as you don't get so involved in the game itself that you forget to look for and/or click on one or more!
In short, I really enjoyed the main game. But, as I have indicated, the bonus chapter was just so-so, and the achievements were not really achievements at all. So you may well want to play just the Standard Edition of the game. It's your call. My own 5-STAR/EXCELLENT-ALL-ROUND rating is based solely on the main game; and that is the one and only reason that Show less

I liked the game but the gameplay for me was hard in chapter 6 and especially in the bonus chapter. I didn't know what they wanted and where. I limped with the hint button to finish. I really liked the rest of it. So maybe it's me.
I think the game is beautiful and it looks great on my full HD 1080p LED monitor. I collected 27 tribal symbol masks. The bonus chapter is a story from Ys. A boy and his beloved animal.
The 8 wallpaper is just scenery and it's beautiful. You can replay 8 hops, 8 cut scenes and 8 mini-games. Their were more things they could have added and I don't know why they chose only these things.
They have just the word More on their list of things to access. It had the achievements and the collectibles in it.
I liked the first game in this series more. The Legacy of Vulcan. Show less

REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME:
6 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 67 Pages
OVERVIEW: As part of the Myth Seekers, you, Amelia, are off to help your friend, Marlene. After discovering an amulet during an expedition, Marlene’s colleague becomes comatose and is returned to the Myth Seekers headquarters in Paris. This amulet contains hidden power and secrets tied to an ancient civilization, Ys. Now you and Marlene are off to learn the history of this sunken kingdom and its rival, Lutetia. Along the way, you will save Paris and the world from an evildoer out to harness this power for personal reasons.
OPINION: The story behind the game is excellent. The demo does not go into much depth concerning the story. There are more characters added and more history disclosed after the demo. The pace is decent although there is a great deal of back-and-forth action between scenes retrieving inventory items. The game is beautifully illustrated with some breathtaking scenes. Despite the number of chapters and lengthy strategy guide, the game is of average length.
MECHANICS:
• There are four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• There are twenty-eight (28) achievements – eighteen (18) for story and ten (10) for skill.
• Collect twenty-seven (27) masks - one per scene (Very large and easy to locate)
• Eight (8) wallpapers along with concept art and cutscenes.
• Replay eight (8) HOP scenes and eight (8) mini-games
BONUS CHAPTER: It is a prequel. Join a young apprentice baker with a pet ferret, Miffy, as he plans his escape from the island of Ys. Continue collecting the masks in this chapter. There are four (4) mini-games and two (2) HOP scenes in this chapter. The whimsical style of this chapter (with the inclusion of the “cutey” ferret) provides a contrast to the life-and-death struggle from the main game.
HOP SCENES: There are only thirteen (13) HOP scenes in the game. Two of these are questionable as to whether the developer considered them HOP scenes. Most of the scenes are lists of items or silhouette. They are somewhat interactive. There is one FROG scene. A matching puzzle can be played in lieu of the scenes.
MINI-GAMES: There are thirty-one (31) puzzles within the game. They vary in difficulty and style. Most of the puzzles are those seen in other games. However, for the most part, they are creatively designed and thematic to fit the theme of the game. There are some puzzles which involve interacting with pages within a storybook which seemed more like HOP scenes than puzzles.
SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO:
A. Sliding tiles puzzle. Slide Druids into position so that the emblems on their torches match the two emblems on both sides of them.
B. Dot-to-dot puzzle. Connect dots on a grid without retracing steps.
C. Rotating tiles puzzle. Rotate triangular tiles to restore an image.
D. Map puzzle. Follow instructions to lead a ship to its port.
E. Logic puzzle. Choose between 3 musical notes (each of which has a specific number of spaces assigned to it) to move a bird to a space with an amulet. There are only 8 moves.
BONUS CHAPTER:
F. Map puzzle. Move through the streets of a town to a bakery while avoiding wolves.
G. Paint-by-number: In this case, color the icing on a cake according to given directions.
H. Physical puzzle. Navigate through water to shore while avoiding rocks. Use left-and-right arrows to steer the boat.
