Secret City Chalk of Fate is an excellent game. The Secret City series is one that I continue to enjoy as played through each of the previous games. I love the concept of a “secret city” hidden from the eyes of humans who live side by side with those hidden by magic.
This developer continues to give us a lot of value for our gaming dollars as they present CE games that are filled with the extras that many have other developers have cut to the bare minimum. Chalk of Fate is not only filled with great extras, it has an entertaining storyline with gameplay that kept me playing for hours.
There is a nice variety in the HOPS with some scenes being better than others. I am still a fan of the original list style but another favorite that is present in this game is where we find specific pattern parts that are hidden in a portrait. There are many other scenes I enjoyed but don’t want to spoil your enjoyment by telling you what you will find. At least for me, discovery is most of the fun in playing a game. Even though I don’t always enjoy puzzles, I am a fan of the puzzles this developer includes in its games. There was one puzzle that had very poor instructions and I skipped it because I didn’t know what I should do. The final solution still made no sense and I imagine that I might not be the only one to skip this puzzle.
A well-planned storyline along with entertaining gameplay kept me involved until I finished the game. There are many times that I don’t finish a game until the next day, but Chalk of Fate held my attention until the end. I haven’t yet completed the bonus chapter but will get back to it sometime today.
If you enjoyed the other games in the Secret City series, then you will most likely enjoy Chalk of Fate. As always, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming! Show less

This is a nice fun game... not fantastic but well worth playing.

Well... the graphic shows their hands in the original position by their side AND in the position of reaching out to hand you something... so each person has FOUR ARMS AND HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was laughing so hard once I realized they weren't actually intended to be mutant monsters and it was just a bug in the programming and graphics.
It did detract from game play but it's still worth playing... just maybe pick up with a free code or at least on the DD when it comes up. Show less

Just played the demo, and first, I have to reply to gamergirl675 that it is not an error that some of the characters have four arms. If you read the Secret City History book at the beginning of the game, it describes the four races that are in the hidden cities. If you read the Secret City History book at the beginning of the game, it describes the four races that are in the hidden cities. Lakrians are magicians with four arms, but you cannot see what these inhabitants really look like without help of some sort (eg: the magic glasses). Also, this game is not real life. If that is what you are looking for, this is the wrong site. All the games on Big Fish are pastimes, for fun, not education. That said, try the games for yourself and make your own decisions whether to play or not. I recommend this game. Show less

fromHow come the demo portions of game by this developer have a ton of things you can interact with in the scene, but by the time you reach the last chapter, there's hardly anything you can interact with?

Legends say that the Titans used the Chalk of Fate to create the 4 Magical Secret City races, the Dwarves, the Yotuns, Merfolk, and Lakrians. No one knows where the giant Titans slumber but now that the Chalk of Fate has been discovered, it's only a matter of time before greed takes control and the Titans are awakened by someone with nefarious intentions.
Gαԃɠҽƚʂ/Hҽʅρҽɾʂ: THE following scenario isn't real, no actual game spoilers are mentioned or harmed during the making of this paragraph)
You're magical Glasses Gadget, that allows you to see the Secret City, breaks within the first scene...my first clue that this would be a boring game filled with anything but logic. Helen offers to fix them if you bring her the shards, so of course, I have to solve a few thousand puzzles, glance around the room to locate a sparkling dark corner to search for a dozen or so random items when I know for a fact that I really only need 1 item and will NEVER use those other "found" items I searched for so intently, nor do I know what happens to those other items once I leave the scene???. Then I have to search the previous scene for a screwdriver inside the dog house, run back to use the screwdriver to remove a vent cover, toss the screwdriver into another random dark corner (so the next guy will find it on his search for a gazillion items, silhouette style) realize immediately that I'm going to need to feed a bird, 3 scenes back, so I can take the molted feathers from his nest when he flies away, thank goodness I found those tongs in the fireplace, I'll also need to unlock a child's room after finding a set of lock picks inside a huge iceblock inside a 1950's refridgerator after finding an icepick buried in the backyard under the gnome, duh, so I can get a ribbon to tie the feathers together to brush away the cobwebs in the vent, (thank goodness I didn't need a map this time!) so I can find the closet doorknob right where I'd have hidden it if it were my house (what, you don't hide the broom closet handle in the HVAC ductwork?) After all that hoopala, and being quite winded at this point, I bring Helen the shards, only to learn that "they are too badly damaged' Then she proceeds to grab me with one of her freaky four arms to give a magical tattoo that works just like the glasses. WT#@%&? Why didn't she do that in the first place? She makes me get down on my hands and knees to clean up the frags and bring them to her, then tells me they are too broken? Did they shatter into 12 pieces and she can only fix them if they shatter into 10 pieces? Why didn't she give me a tattoo in the first place? Why didn't ANYONE give me a tattoo in the previous three games? The tattoo was instantaneous and painless, did they think I enjoyed wearing these mystery tales rejects with lenses so fragile they spontaneously burst in every chapter?
CσʅʅҽƈƚιႦʅҽʂ & Mσɾρԋιɳɠ OႦʝҽƈƚʂ (CE Vҽɾʂισɳ σɳʅყ):

Great looking and feeling game. The mini games were fresh feeling but some instructions were confusing.
I found a lot of actions just magic and had all but no logic behind how they worked. The usual back and forth, sometimes back two or three screens to get some item became pretty tedious.
Then the game ended without what seemed like enough time to develop the story thorough enough.
