I still luv this simple style of Pixel Art, if all of the Paint Games were all created the exact same style as the "new fabulous Art Coloring game" then there would be nothing to compare to & the world of Paint Games would defiantly become the same old same old. This is not an Art/Paint By Numbers style game, so the gameplay is not going to be the same. If it was, there would be no reason to have a different style of game. This is the main reason I prefer Pixel art over the Paint by Numbers. Every Paint by Numbers game where I have played the demo, I was able to sweep my mouse around the pictures and complete them without ever changing colors. With Pixel art, if you click on the wrong number, it changes the background of that cell, which will make it more difficult to find.
I guess I just don't understand why people are having a problem finding all the numbers and need a cell counter to know how many more cells of a particular color are left. I usually enlarge the picture and complete it in sections. No numbers are missed in that section and I move the picture to the next section. I don't start with #1 and find all of them in the entire picture before I move on to #2. If that is what some of you are doing, I can see how this would be frustrating and hard to find them.
I also note people have issues with the pictures being blurry. Once again, this is Pixel Art. Each cell is a square, not a shape, so the images are not going to be as clear as an image made up of shapes. TV screens for example, are made up of pixels, depending on the size, there can be several hundred or thousand per square inch.
Here is a tip I discovered by accident If you complete the picture on the bottom right of the first section during the demo, it will let you go to the second section. Same holds true for the next section. I was able to see three levels during the demo by using this "trick".
So finally, If you are an Art/Paint by Number fan, you are most likely not going to be a fan of Pixel Art. I am a Pixel Art Fan, because I feel like it is a bigger challenge than the Paint by Number series and I get to enjoy it for a longer period of time than the couple of Paint by Numbers sets I have purchased. So I am getting more for my money!!
Recommend giving Pixel Art a try if you are new to the series. Show less

This game has the same mix of easy and hard puzzles that most of the recent versions of the game have. Lots of flowers and animals. Lots of still life paintings. Van Gogh paintings are prominent in this version, and some are repeats from previous games.

I have always enjoyed these games and have all of them. I know the pictures will not be sharp and clear. They really can't be, due to the large pixels required to make them. But I like the realistic patterns and colors, and the famous paintings are fun to do. I agree with previous reviews that lament not being able to see beyond the first set of pictures until they are completed. But this game does not have any surprises, and it gets better after the first panel of 8 pictures. Show less

I actually do buy these games and find them (mostly) relaxing. It depends to some extent on the music (some is good, some is awful) and how much clip art has been used (hate clip art; I prefer nature and landscapes). I'm not anxiously racing against a clock and there are no annoying morphing things.

I have a system for solving these, and it involves using the feature that lets you zoom in so the number you want stands out in stark contrast to all the rest. It also helps to make the background black so there isn't so much glare and the numbers you're looking for are easier to find.
The later games do have a counter so you know how many pixels are left of each color. It's a feature I wish had been present much sooner. Show less

This is the umteenth in a line of mind numbing coloring book "games" that are being passed of as new titles. You cannot go wrong in filling in the boxes, so there is no level of challenge. You cannot choose the image, so there's no creativity. And the pictures themselves are so cartoon-like, there is no satisfaction in finishing. Why, Big Fish?
I don't recommend this game.

Just when you think the images couldn't possibly get any more unappealing...along comes a light-yellow pastel-colored smilie, a coffee cup, and a slice of pie...no background necessary! Now, where's that picture of a lemon?
To make matters worse, there are no decent features, it doesn't have a Hint feature when you are desperate to find the numbers you somehow missed...and you have no way of knowing how many cells still need to be filled in because there is no Cell Counter!
Why are 3-4 different numbered cells highlighted at the same time, shouldn't the only highlight coincide with the current number you are working on?
What is the point of changing the background color to different shades of grey, isn't this a "coloring" game? Shouldn't there be actual colors involved? Why doesn't this feature change the color of the highlighted cell ((s)) so we can pick a highlight color that is contrasting and easier to spot? What happened to the multiple color grid selection for the background & cells a few games prior?
Why are we forced to complete the first level before accessing the next set of images? Are those images even less appealing? Are you worried no one will buy the game if they are able to see all of the available pictures?
Why are the colors always so bland? Why are the images mostly a single object in the center of the page? Why don't you offer more images that include a background so we can color the whole picture? My granddaughter likes the coloring books where she just has to color a single "Queen Elsa" a "puppy" or "mermaid" and rarely bothers with the background scenery (most don't even have a background)...but that's because she's only 4-years old...just trying to make a valid point here!

There are no Why's involved when it comes to having fun so grab a compass and some comfy hiking boots, and head on over to The Woods Forum! Take the well-beaten path and a right at the fork in the road, we've got a new Group Game Play reservation with your name on it so you might want to start trekking! thewoodsforum.boards.net

Pixel Art will never change! It is still the same dreary game at Number 21. I continue to check out the demos to see if there's anything different and, sadly, nothing. Honestly, I don't know why this dev doesn't start working on some improvements. It's obvious by the consistent poor reviews that it is in need of some changes. In my opinion, the reviews aren't being read or the dev is just happy making a "lazy buck."
We are still required to complete the first level before we can move to the next. So aggravating! To top it off, if one or two complex images/lots of cells are included, there is absolutely no chance of completing the level within the short demo time. Purchasing is a risk since you don't get to see the entire collection. That is not fair! Level 1 always has unattractive, juvenile pics with one that is more elaborate. These are an example of what is waiting in the other levels although more of the larger images are added along the way. However, they are uninteresting and it is tedious to fill in the many, many cells because of the muddled grey variations used for each number. The colors are still dull, shading, depth, detail cannot be achieved.
I've never found the subject matter very appealing. Mostly lots of food and boring things like clocks, telephones, cup of coffee, cars, medallion, toys, a goofy something or other, a few animals. I like the large pictures of landscapes, buildings, gardens but we get very few of those. The "painting" is always blurred and very small after completed. It is disappointing that it can't be viewed in a larger size and it is whisked away in a split second to boot!
There are enough images to keep you busy for quite a long while, pixel painting takes a good amount of time because you have to pick out the cells you want to color and each is filled in individually except for the large one-color areas. Those can be done all at once by double clicking. It's a great time-saving feature. The zoom feature is extremely helpful when the cells become so numerous in the large images. And of course moving the image around on the screen is a must-have feature.
I enjoyed Pixel Art in the beginning, it was new and different, I think I own 6 or so but haven't completed any of them. I finally realized that purchasing the game without seeing the entire collection of pics was a big mistake! For me it was a waste of $$ because I'm not happy working on just any old thing simply for the sake of no-mess coloring. Visual stimulation is important. Pixel Art has its long-time fans and it does offer fun and relaxation if not picky like me. If you enjoy simple images and this style of color by numbers, it's one of very few at BFG. And with 21 games to choose from, you won't have to wait for a new one to come along. Show less
