I'm the polar opposite of the other reviewer; I much prefer this version of the various Paint by Numbers games! The pictures are more natural; landscapes, animals and some less appealing but nonetheless interesting studies to complete and not a single psychedelic cat, elephant or jar of goodness-knows-what to be seen. I'm the polar opposite of the other reviewer; I much prefer this version of the various Paint by Numbers games! The pictures are more natural; landscapes, animals and some less appealing but nonetheless interesting studies to complete and not a single psychedelic cat, elephant or jar of goodness-knows-what to be seen. These pictures are, for the most part, real images, not something that looks like an explosion in a paint shop or the result of a weird hallucination!

Yes it's annoying having to complete the opening set of pictures first but they pretty much all do this anyway, so I just get on with it. I deleted the other recent offering but I'll be keeping this one; I prefer the reality of seascapes and buildings to imaginary pictures of bizarre, multi-coloured creatures and people. Show less

I see no dark-colored pictures. I love the pictures and the way the depth makes them look 3 dimensional. I am finishing up the first page and will be working on the next one, I have all of this series and will be purchasing this one, I just wish the developers would get some better music, Then the game would be PERFECT for me,

I agree with the review that mentioned how nice it is to have NATURAL color instead of all psychedelic animals... At first I was not happy with so much Christmas but then remembered I was one of the ones who complained we didn't have enough...

I wanted to say that I love the paint by number game that has all the pastel colors and makes the picture 'pop', but this is a specific type of painting by numbers that I also enjoy. This really feels more like the way an artist would paint a picture, with all the nuances of subtle colour changes in a scene. I find it very interesting, how they can decide where to put which nuance to come up with a 3-D picture, and much as it has more subtle tones, I like to paint this way as well. I have always loved coloring pictures and find that these games teach me how to do pictures on paper, as well as being a diversion and relaxation in my day, when I want to de-stress for a while. Thanks for creating these art games. They are fun and give me satisfaction at being able to do a complex art picture. Show less

I liked only one of the pictures in level one, the tree. It was more elaborate and interesting than the others, but the color choices ruined it. Many of them were so similar I couldn't tell where one ended and another began. Very unappealing shades ranging from bland and monotone to very black and more black. I painted a bit of several other pics to check out the colors and found more boring, ugly shades.

The challenge as usual is non-existent, painting was done in a flash even with trying to take it slower. I'm glad the color wheel is still featured, it makes seeing the numbered areas much easier and the colored backgrounds are really nice. I like the textured finishes but because of the unappealing art I think they make little difference in the overall quality of the images.

There was no desire to complete the first level to unlock the others pictures. I'm not willing to take a chance that the good stuff lies ahead. I've been disappointed once too often so I'm passing on today's release. I'd rather invest in the paint by numbers game that is 100% Happy Dance with their unique images, yummy color palette and fun features.

Modern Art is still a lovely game with 64 of both simple and busy images, a few juvenile, that require little time and no challenge to paint. Sometimes simple is just what we need for a sigh of relief from a long day. I like that little break from HOPAs and Match 3s, but for me Modern Art doesn't offer enough subject variety or color. Hopefully the artist in you will really be pleased with Modern Art 8. Show less

I decided some time ago that I wasn't buying Modern Art any more. But I checked this one out anyway and I suspect that you can't go on to the second level before finishing all the pics first because they don't want one to see the rest of the awful pics. When it comes to a "painting" game, images are everything and if the images aren't appealing, nothing else matters at that point. There are a ton of pictures where there is just a single image slapped in the middle that doesn't allow you to paint the background. It's a painting game, why on Earth would you not take advantage of the entire scene? If I saw an adult paint by numbers book with these same images I wouldn't buy it so why would I pay 7 bucks for a computer version? Most people would only have a few different colored pencils on hand, so wouldn't you expect a computer version to have tons of mind-blowing colors available?

There are 64 images available but you are forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? I'm sure everyone would like the ability to pick and choose from any level, at the very least, allow us to see all of the available images even if we can't paint them because they are still locked! This scenario only makes me suspicious that the rest of the images are worse.

Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (as well as a "fit" tab) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging.

I like the textures available in the Modern Art series better than the colors offered in their Paint By Numbers series and this would be a 5-star game if they would simply add some must-have features, better colors, and better image selections. This developer is truly struggling with pictures and interesting color choices so it would be wise to seek out an artist or two for some better insight.
