I am writing my first review because I am surprised at all the negativity I am reading about this game. I am a voracious reader, and I love a good sci-fi adventure in any genre. While it's true this game is from 2004 and graphics have improved since them, the voice acting is excellent and the story is drawing me in like any good book should do. I am writing my first review because I am surprised at all the negativity I am reading about this game. I am a voracious reader, and I love a good sci-fi adventure in any genre. While it's true this game is from 2004 and graphics have improved since them, the voice acting is excellent and the story is drawing me in like any good book should do. It takes place in the dystopian future of 2044, where Peter Wright watches a SWAT team abduct his new neighbor, a journalist named Graham Oswald, in the middle of the night. Grieving from the loss of his own wife and child, Wright offers to help Oswald's wife and child locate him. Warning: There is a LOT of dialogue, and you need to go through all of it to trigger parts of the plot. The mechanics can be clunky, and there is a lot of back and forth and useless waiting for things like the elevator in Wright's apt building, but the story really is intense, thought provoking, and very contemporary in how it predicts the invasiveness of our current technology. Big brother really is watching. Hit escape to exit, M to use the messenger, and H for hints (exits.) From what I understand, it will take about 24 hours to get through the whole game. That's great bang for the buck, and I used a game coupon to purchase. Happy Adventure Gaming. Show less

I really liked what I played in DEMO. A definite buy for me. But, I have been playing adv games for years (since the 80s black screen with text only games). Point-and-click adventure game after *that*? Yes, please!

Is this a typical HOPA where every move is (mostly) obvious? No, it is not.

For those who aren't used to this type of game, here are some gaming tips, since there isn't a tutorial.

Dbl-Click to get the character to RUN to locations.

Remember to right-click on everything that has a caption when your mouse pointer hovers over it.

Press the M char to check yr "phone" / database.

Press the H char to check possible action spots in the "room" (or "skareen" as we used to call it).

{Esc} button will take you back and out of game.

And, IMO this is a really good game. And there are alot of "older" point-and-click adventure games out there, for those that are interested. Give it a try -- and don't be reluctant to check out all of the walkthroughs that are out there. This is good value for a game that will take hours and hours to complete.

Bravo Bigfish for your courage to present a first class game despite the anticipation that a lot of your customers will trash it. It always amazes me, how many people prefer to click through brainless games with items to be found in the most stupid places and be used in even more stupid contexts.
What a pity that one has to go decades back if you want to find a game that has logic, a great real life story line without monsters or other paranormal stuff, and is a piece of art with great graphics and superb voice overs.
Nope, this game won’t guide you. And it won’t be finished within 4 or 5 hours unless you ran through it with a walkthrough in your hand. You have to think, put yourself in the shoes of the hero and try to find the solutions with all the trial and error troubles that life presents. The game is more dialog driven, more like a novel, but not boring by any means because the dialogs are so well written and spoken by actors in a way I have not seen in any other game yet. There are only a few items to be found which have to be used logically in context with the situation and story line. And like a real good book, this game has a message. Issued in 2004, well before the first smart phone or flat screen TV was broadly available, the game addresses a lot of our current and probably future problems.
I truly hope that Bigfish will offer more of this kind of games, even if you have to pull them from ancient resources, because I think there are also a lot of people out there who are less superficially minded. Show less

I am saddened by the reaction to this timeless game. I personally think that it is BRILLIANT !
Yeah though, if you are not used to figuring things out for yourself I can see why you might not like it.
It's older but that does NOT mean it isn't a well executed and interesting game.
I own this game on two other platforms but am still purchasing it here.

For any gamers who were thrilled by the Art of Murder series, Paradise, or the Sherlock Holmes adventure games, Moment of Silence will take you back to the PC game play ca. 2005.
The story takes place in 2044 and your character, Peter Wright, is trying to find out what happened to his neighbor who was abducted in the middle of the night. Your inventory is displayed by mousing the lower portion of the screen. Point and click to move in a direction. Double-click to run. Right-click to interact with an object. Left-click to collect an item. Escape key brings up the save/exit options.
This is a pure adventure game-- no hidden object lists. There is no help. If you find yourself wandering around and getting frustrated, use a walkthrough to figure out the next steps. (I used one by MaGtRo.) But do yourself a favor and don't use a walkthrough for more than the occasional nudge. If you are delighted by a challenge and a game with a deeply mysterious story line, give this one a try.
Full disclosure: I gave 4/5 for fun factor because there is a lot of dialog to slog through. You cannot skip any of it because there are game triggers built in. I've logged about 8 hours and think I'm about half-way through the game. Admittedly, I am taking my time because I have really missed this type of game and am enjoying every minute of it. Show less

I have always loved these type of games. The best being the Syberia games there were 3 installments. It's a shame it doesn't get better reviews. I really want Bigfish to put more of these on this site. I really miss them. So much more challenging than the same old same O we have had for the last few years. PLEASE PLEASE put more of these back on your site.

All I can say is I'm amazed at the depth of the story, the development of the characters and the fullness of this game. It delivered much more than any collector's addition adventure game I've ever played. I'd love to see more like this! Show less

This was a "new" one for me. I loved The Adventure Company games back in the day. Point-and-click was better. (In time, companies tried to get fancy with 360 swivel movements, and those simply made players too dizzy to play the game for long.) These adventures have good story lines and require some thought as to solving problems, plot development, investigation, etc.... Although some of the graphics and movements might seem a bit outdated now, this adventure is complete with good cut scenes and various venues to walk around.

Moment of Silence is clearly one of the classics, like the Gabriel Knight series and Siberia. (Of the more recent game series, Nancy Drew games are probably the most similar.) Alas, adventures eventually downgraded to hidden-object scenes driving a purely linear story line. So, finding this older gem was a very nice surprise. Show less

As a former student I have played Counterstrikes for a couple just a couple (too violent for me) and sometimes I play Assassins Creed.
So, I love the introduction with earth and satellte (beautiful like a movie, tristar, columbia presenting the brand), I love the diving screen from space to earth in 2044, New York place.
