There was a glimmering of less cookie cutter tasking a couple of games ago, so I was hoping, but had no clue they would burst forth with this fantastic game. Had I not splurged on the 65% Off sale, I would buy Reflection of Light immediately.

I have made it all the way through the demo without having to:

1. Feed an animal
2. Fan away smoke
3. Find a key in the usual places
4. Engage in even one same-old, same-old that is not general gaming experience knowledge
5. Fulfill even one cookie-cutter task.

STORYLINE: Starts off lame, gets better
We start off with 2 bubblehead archeologists (we play the one who is supposed to be the mentor) in search of a missing expedition group that, due to anomalies and general weirdness happening, was hunting down a local meteorite crash which is most likely the cause of the strange incidents.

Still we, the "mentor", do not warn our rookie to step away from the glowing object directly adjacent to the missing archeologists' campsite.

Surprise, surprise, we are whisked off by the glowing crystal to strange new worlds where everyone speaks American. Okay, I can live with that.

What I can especially live with is that this is when the going gets good. Really good.

GAME PLAY
We have morphies to collect, artifacts too, and metal discs/coins in close-ups. That's a fun factor for me, albeit I do enjoy replaying the old games that had nothing to collect.

So far, interaction with the characters is in sensible everyday conversation format, and nobody seems to want to take over the universe, at least not by the end of the demo. And so far, the continuity of the story and tasks is solid.

We are given 3 worlds to explore. Dang, I love multiple worlds, the more the merrier. They are Lightrun, Shendaur (a shadowy world), and Reflex and I can't wait to wend my way through all of them.

There are magical creatures, magical folks, and magical everything, actually. :D

You'll have to put your thinking cap on for a change as opposed to the usual Domini. In fact, Domini appears to have gone retro, meaning this is more like the games they used to produce that we all loved and waited for with bated breath. Or as Robin Williams used to say, "With worm on tongue". Miss him to pieces.

Absolutely outstanding game. A rich panoply of drawings and objects to look at, multiple levels of game and so complex that it will definitely be a game to play over and over again! Most of the puzzles are medium and the HOS are plentiful and varied. This is going to be one of my classics!

I liked the demo and bought the game. That being said why are the people from another dimension/ planet whatever speaking American English and worse American slang and colloquialisms? Just before it got a little too much the one character stated had not seen people from "our planet" before. Very odd. But liked the game play good colors, interesting story overall.

I agree with Volauvent (great reviews, btw.) Yes, same. I loved the story based on light and the world of Light Run. I too love multiple places to go (portals) in a HOPA because it breaks up the gameplay a bit when a location changes from night to day. I'm still requesting different CE content and some other small changes that many others are requesting too, but for now, I feel heard! I am so grateful for that change. Thank you Domini!!!
The scenery was beautiful to be in. The awesome VO for the main lead (Yarat) sounds like our missing Rick Rogers (?) Has this where our beloved Rick went missing to, the Land of Light? (Rick, buddy, can’t fool me, come back! Enough with you vacationing in this sparkling land of pretty. The paranormal cases need ya bad and so many are downright *hangry* at your absence; myself included!) Haha

This game has incredible environmental audio as well as the beautiful visuals. I love that the CE has 30 replayable cutscenes. Aside from a well done and complete story, I have always loved the cutscenes to bring a story to life more. Now if only I can have the cutscenes, *inside* the in-game journal in consecutive order with the storyline, the way our Granny has perfected this method in their games! This way I can review the story after that gap in time from when I demo the game to when I buy it (usually on sale.) It makes me feel way more connected to the entire game this way.

Check out another great game I loved based on Light (with the healer, Archangel Raphael.)

A Fairey story. Colors are good, pretty scenes. Games seems a little slow to react. Several collectibles. It is fun, cute. Some of the instructions seem a little vague to me. There is a skip, hint and an option of the match 3 for the HOPs which helps. I did have a little bit of a hard time finding a few of the items. I will recommend this game as something to do. Something's fishy here! Even though I have purchased this game, I'm still unable to download any of my purchased games since the overhaul, so, unfortunately, I can only review the demo of this game.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the realistic graphics! They didn't use those purple haze, and green neon glitter bombs, they just made the graphics bright and colorful while trying to keep everything as natural looking as possible. I'm not 100% convinced that it isn't a fluke but it would seem that Domini has turned a new leaf because the entire demo seemed to have fewer cliche tasks than most Domini games...could they be listening to our reviews finally?

Collectibles/Morphing Objects (CE version only)
The tasks may have had a facelift, but the Collectibles are still sagging! They are always the same collectibles, they just give them a different name from one game to the next. There are 15 Morphing Relics, 15 Reverse Artifacts, and 75 Zoom Zone Metal Plates that are used to purchase 15 uninteresting Portal Keeper's Room items. There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings menu which will light up when there is a collectible in the current scene. You can also choose to show/hide the availability of collectibles on the Map.

Hidden Object Scenes:
The Hidden Object scenes have the usual variants such as Interactive Listed Item Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, and Keywords in Sentence Finds. My biggest complaint here is that the developers never apply their amazing graphics, or their story-telling, creative imagination skills to the HO scenes. It's always the same MO, and the scenes are located in really boring locations, usually just a pile of things sitting on a desk or shelf!

Do me a favor folks, take a look at those beautiful graphics, pay attention to the detail Domini poured into the scenery before you click on the first HO scene. It's a mundane interactive list of items to find that are sitting on a table inside the motorhome camper...the entire bottom portion of the left side is pitch black, and the objects to find are so "been there done that" (find a compass, replace the flashlight battery, find a pair of scissors, you get the picture! HO scenes should pop with color, the scenes should be located in imaginative places, not the same locations they have been located in the past 100 games, this IS a fantasy-themed game is it not?

Alternate Match 3 Game:
There is an alternate Match 3 Game available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene. The M3s still don't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly because you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match and they are the same boards with the same tiles used in every Do Game!

Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
As I stated earlier, I couldn't play the entire game, I could only download & play the trial for this game because BF has yet to resolve this glitch. I realize my situation is somewhat unique because there are only a few of us who have the infamous 1404 Game Manager Glitch which occurs when you purchase too many games. When creating their new points system, BF either overlooked this GM glitch, or they don't have an actual solution yet, either way, they should at least have the courtesy to respond to my CS support ticket don't ya think?
