I liked this game. I have recently played several older games and found a couple sooo boring I simply went on to something else before the end. This game wasn't overly challenging nor was it boring. It didn't bother me that some characters weren't the same. Other than a small dog named Elf and a rather mangy cat in other games, I don't really get into the characters but rather the flow of the game itself. I am on the fence a little with Anastasia though. This game ended quicker than I had hoped. I'm happy I purchased it even with such scant reviews. Try it for yourself and see what you think. Anna Grey has a unique ability that allows her to travel back in time, thanks to her father Richard's dabbling into Black Magic. At first, most Grim Tale fans didn't appreciate putting the original story in the rearview mirror, after all, they were the ones who made us fans in the first place! Eventually, we grew to love Richard's sarcastic humor, not to mention the humor of a time-traveling woman lugging her daddy's skull around in an oversized purse!

Recently, Grim Tales took another drastic turn, just when we grew to love, and anticipate the next episode of Richard & Anna's antics! Out of the blue, we discover that Anna had given birth to baby Alice! Within a few episodes, baby Alice got kidnapped twice but it was becoming abundantly clear that the torch, and the ability to time-travel, were being passed down from Anna.

What we didn't see coming was the disappearance of good ole' daddy Richard! The last few games have obviously tried to phase out our beloved, fun-loving, sarcastic skull! Grim Tales fans were not happy about Richards's disappearance because we all know the outcome of the Grey/McGray family. Everyone began to voice their disapproval which seemed to snap Elephant Games back to reality...don't write off daddy Richard!

Clearly, Grim Tales is veering off course once more as they introduce Anastasia, Anna's mum who summons us from beyond via her beloved Cameo...wait, WHAT? Just bring back Richard and his glowing skull and we will pretend this never happened!

GADGETS & HELPERS:
Anastasia is both a Gadget and a helper who contacts Anna via a Cameo on the top left section of the Inventory Bar. She is not a viable option for Richard and/or his glowing skull. Did someone complain that the Dark Magic that allowed Richard to communicate with Anna was too scary, or not politically correct? Why are you flopping the plot and the entire basis of this story around AGAIN, Elephant? The reason Anna stays young has been explained, Richard can't go anywhere obviously because of his "condition" so why can't you just leave well enough alone?? This isn't Richard...bring back the real daddy Richard!

BONUS CHAPTER: (Collector's Edition version only)
Travel forward(?) in a prequel playing as a Detective named Conrad Matthews who is tasked with finding the elusive, Elusive Gang tee-hee-hee This is an average-length Bonus Chapter that takes place over 7 scene locations with 9 additional Mini-games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes. You will continue searching for the final 3 Collectible Pictures, and 6 Screensaver pieces that allow you to complete the Screensaver. After completing the Bonus Chapter, you'll gain entry to the Archives, Expedition, and Secret Rooms.

The Gray family is odd, the backbone of this series, and the stories with a touch of the paranormal are interesting. I don't follow the series but own several of the earlier games and enjoyed them quite a bit. This one, traveling to various time periods, should provide some interesting visuals.

Carrying Dad's skull everywhere and his quirky remarks are not amusing to me and probably why I've never been a fan. But I like the stories and Elephant usually delivers a good game.

The graphics started out poorly but improved as the demo progressed. I liked the HOPs in the demo, especially dressing Anna. They and the puzzles were fun, average challenge. The characters have changed over time I think, probably due to different art styles throughout the series. I liked the originals much better. Although I didn't buy this game I think fans of Anna and Richard will enjoy it, especially with the return of Anastasia. Show less

On the puzzle with the sun / moon I could not see the 'triangle button' to check your solution. I'm wondering if it's my glasses. The puzzles were a bit too easy but it was quite a fun game. Not as many hidden object puzzles as previously which is a shame.

WARNING, MINOR SPOILER: Richard's sarcasm was what makes this series fun. Without him, Grim Tales will not standout. If you want to spin off Anna's daughter with her own series that's fine, but keep Anna and Ricard going.

I don't recommend this game.
