I liked this game a great deal The demo contained more than just tasks and the ones I dealt with weren't so bad. This was very nice for a change and I actually enjoyed it all. not bored to death for once.

With the exception of the too-dark first HO scene I really enjoyed the HOPs. Very creative, good challenge. I loved the puzzles/games. I'm never good at navigation so the boat trip was a bit frustrating. I didn't find any of the scenes to be as intense as the synopsis suggested. A couple were a bit disturbing but no big deal. Graphics were great as were the characters and voice overs. The afterlife visuals were done well, good imaginative artwork.

It's a busy game with the choices you are faced with. Each story has a villain and other characters to interact with that determine your outcome. So make your choices wisely! Not much in the way of collectibles, extra content. The SE will be enough for me. Elephant Games did a fine job making this game veery interesting and entertaining. I love this kind of game in the first place and the quality here makes it an excellent purchase. Show less

---- of excellent HOPAs that are so completely entertaining.

This one is nostalgic in that sense, has some challenge to it, a good story, with great visuals and a sense of a complete CE
This one shows what can be really done for casual gamers as opposed to the "busy work" style that we have seen far too much of. imo.

Congrats to the devs for an outstanding offer. Give it a try!

Return to the Crossroads Bar, a place which exists at the corner of nowhere and everywhere. In this “phantasmic” game, join Mistress Eve as she helps a woman, Eden Royer, deal with the grief she is experiencing upon the death of her mother. Play Eden as she crosses the threshold of death in three haunting tales.

This is another superb game from Elephant Games, one which displays a great deal of creativity. I did not find this game scary; however, all three tales deal with ghosts, ghouls, and the afterlife. I feel this game is the best of the series so far. I loved this game and did not suffer a death from boredom nor from any of the ghosts and ghoulies inhabiting it. I believe that having three well-written stories maintained the excellent pace in this game.

There are many choices to make throughout the game. At times, I sat there contemplating the best answer to the situation at hand. The player will have to choose between three (3) answers as they interact with the story characters. Those choices will determine the outcome of each tale. There will also be two or three choices made in the battle scenes as well. How the player deals with a villain in each story will also determine the outcome. If Mistress Eve views you as having learned all the valuable lessons within the game, you win. However, if you fail, you can always replay the game for a higher score.

There are two collectibles within the game, books on mythology and puzzle pieces. The books on mythology describe how the afterlife is viewed within twelve cultures. I found some of the collectibles difficult to locate and had to use the strategy guide to locate some of them. Most are well-hidden within the scenes. If you miss any of the collectibles, you can return to the twenty-four (24) scenes in the Expedition Room. As in most of Elephant’s games, there is a Secret Room which houses a jigsaw puzzle in which you can play with the puzzles pieces you collect within the game.

MECHANICS:
• Four (4) levels of play including a customized version.
• 11 achievements.
• Collect 12 books on the view of death within mythology and 24 puzzle pieces
• 5 wallpapers along with a screensaver and music.
• Replay 13 HOP scenes and 13 mini-games.
• An Expedition room allows the player to return to the scenes to locate missing collectibles.
• A Secret room contains a jigsaw puzzle in which to place the 24 collected puzzle pieces.

BONUS CHAPTER: Join Mistress Eve as she rewrites the three tales from the main game with the stroke of her magic quill. A trickster has entered each of those three tales and altered the stories. Now you must help her rewrite them as they were originally written. Cleverly, this chapter returns to each of the original tales and mixes up the stories somewhat. There are six (6) each of mini-games and six (6) HOP scenes. I feel this is a wonderful addition to the game.

HOP SCENES AND MINI-GAMES: Elephant is doing a much better job in creating exciting puzzles and HOP scenes. I feel they are much more creatively designed. There are twenty-one (21) puzzles within the game, thirteen (13) of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. I found the puzzles superb. None are challenging and there is one which has a choice to be played in either an easy or hard version.

There are eighteen (18) HOP scenes with a few mini-HOP scenes with six to seven items to be located. There are standard lists of items, silhouette items, matching pairs, narrative scenes with items located in highlighted letters, and one scene with rebus clues. Some scenes have items which are given and are to be returned to the scene in the proper location.

SPOILERS: HERE ARE A FEW OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO:

A. Slat puzzle. Slide slats up, down, and sideways to restore an image on a tablet.
B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Slide 11 tiles into position to restore an image of ghoul.
C. Maze puzzle. In 46 moves, lead your figure to the center of a maze avoiding traps.
D. E/H. Maze puzzle. Lead 3 characters out of a maze. In the easy version move the characters throughout the maze. In the hard version you must plot their course before they begin. Avoid obstacles along the route. 2X
E. Match-3 game. Battle the ghost. Fill up your bars by getting more of your colored tokens than the ghost.
F. Switch puzzle. Switch and rotate circles within a painting to restore the image.
G. Paint by Number puzzle. In this case – paint by symbol. Paint areas with a symbol the color assigned to that symbol. 2X
BONUS CHAPTER:
H. Match-3 or more game. Battle the ghost. Fill up your bars by getting more of your colored tokens than the ghost.
I. Switch puzzle. Switch and rotate circles within a painting to restore the image.
K. Sleight of hand. Find the card with Mistress Eve on it as it is placed under one of 3 cups and shuffled. Show less

Some of the search objects (in this case books) were very well hidden in the scenes. The puzzle pieces, on the other hand, were easy to find.
The HOs and minigames were a great mix and you can tell that Elephant has really worked hard here and put a lot of love and work into the puzzles.
All in all, I can only say that this is a game that was once again a lot of fun. And a big thank you to Elephant for this wonderful game. Show less

Speaking of signs, Pay Attention to the No votes I have been getting, they come in one large dump within minutes of posting and are being used to target me. I was pleasantly surprised when I got stumped a few times in the game, kudos to the devs! Keep reading between the cryptic lines, please :)

The graphics are amazing, dark when they should be dark, yet they still managed to include bright & colorful HO's. They are allowing 1 person to vote No multiple times while giving others hundreds of yes votes within a few minutes. I love to play casual games, and my goal has always been to give like-minded gamers valid information on the game to help them decide whether a game is right for them.

There are 12 Collectible Egyptian Mythology Books and 24 Crossroads Symbols that convert to puzzle pieces in the Secret Room. (and they aren't easily spotted) Until they do something about this childish, fraudulent behavior, I'll just continue to give every game a generic sentence or two in my reviews. My favorite Hidden Object Scene was a brand new variation where you had to choose two notes that were related, and then click "find the connection", if they match, a checkmark appears, and you continue matching all of the notes. I'm asking for your support, please...complain. There was an HO where you had to find areas (swatches) and the scene was idyllic and so beautiful.

Yes, there are still several cookie-cutter tasks. No, I will not stop reviewing, in fact, I will review every game, every day in this manner until the voting become legitimate again. I thought it was hilarious when my character was determined to go to the underworld, but wimped out when the atmosphere turned dark. Was he expecting rainbows & unicorns in the underworld? Other sites don't have this issue, maybe that's why they are more popular nowadays? Give this game a try, I think you may be pleasantly surprised as well!

Hello, friends! As always, I review mostly on the game play and not the story, but I do sneak a comment or two in about it anyway. Animation was quite nice, very smooth movements. Voices were age and character appropriate and we seemed to have more in this game than we have in the last few, which makes a game far more interesting. Colors are not too bad, some a bit to bright, but not really over powering. Background sounds are almost non-existent...not a lot of SFX or music. You do have to choose dialogue in this game.

HOG's seem to be pretty much straight interactive lists. Didn't see where you could switch to anything else. Puzzle are actually very simple. Took no time or brain power to figure them out. We do have a jump map and a transport feature. This is a great help, as you do a lot of back tracking from one place to another.

Collectibles aren't too bad. We have 24 puzzles pieces that are quite difficult to see, so be on the lookout. They aren't necessarily shaped like a puzzle either. And we have 12 Egyptian Mythology books to find. Haven't had a problem finding them. If you do, just take a look at the strategy guide. It shows you where they are hidden.

I was pleasantly surprised by this game. At first I found it to be a bit slow and somewhat boring. However, as the game progressed, I found it to be refreshingly different and I became quite curious as to where it was going. I do not care for the "choose your dialogue" in any game and this definitely has it. It is necessary, based on what the game is all about...choices. It was not a difficult game, but as I said, I am curious. I made one mistake, now I have to see if I learned anything and can do much better with the other two stories. Gave this one a 4.25. Yep, I am going to add the game to my long list of HOG's.

As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on! Show less

A worthy sequel, although hopefully its very next sequel will involve far less backtracking back & forth repeatedly for its player, especially if its only to either collect one item, or complete a single puzzle. Also have its player choices far less unpredictable than this one was. Finally hopefully we'll see more of the Trickster saving the day.
