A local toymaker and his factory workers mysteriously vanished in one night, and you’ve been summoned to investigate. You’ll notice something strange about the small village where the toymaker resides immediately upon arrival, and it’s up to you to delve into the town’s hidden mysteries and discover the truth. But your first task will be to learn more about the strange inhabitants of this unnerving little hamlet.
Parts of this once-peaceful town seem entirely abandoned, while others appear normal and stable. Little makes sense at first, but as you progress forward, speak with the locals, search for clues, and solve riddles, a mystery reveals itself before you. Are the ominous figures in black trying to help you, or are they leading you into certain peril? What lies beyond the elaborate labyrinth? I can't believe that no one has reviewed this game!
I checked my game file and it seemed that I played "The Others" in 2016, but have little recall of it, except the deserted town and empty toy factory. Now playing this Brightstone Mysteries update, it's a totally new game, and thoroughly enjoyable.
I've used the hint button a bit, but there's a map to keep one from getting too lost. ...Show more

I've used the hint button a bit, but there's a map to keep one from getting too lost.
This is a game that keeps calling me back to my computer, and even giving up a Sunday to see what happens! Show less

I've played the whole of the demo. Interestingly I recently replayed this game and at first glance there is very little improvement. I *think* the map is now interactive, but it may have been before. The puzzles are the same. It used to "stick" a bit more when choosing an item from the panel, but there again, I can't be too sure. There are no collectibles or morphs that I could see. Had to rely a lot on the hint button, which means that it isn't more intuitive or better written. All in all the improvements were extremely subtle, but others perhaps noticed more.
Hardly worth getting as I have the original. But a good choice if you haven't played the game yet, although I would suggest the less expensive SE version. Show less
