Every now and then a creative HOS/Adventure game comes along. I have several in this series and have enjoyed them all.

An easy going game with fantastic animations, graphics and voice overs. HOS were creative and fun and the puzzles you had the choice of working or skipping without waiting for a timer. Custom setting allow you to set your own speed for hint recharge to as small as 1 ...Show more

Every now and then a creative HOS/Adventure game comes along. I have several in this series and have enjoyed them all.

An easy going game with fantastic animations, graphics and voice overs. HOS were creative and fun and the puzzles you had the choice of working or skipping without waiting for a timer. Custom setting allow you to set your own speed for hint recharge to as small as 1 sec.

Story was good, but has been used before but the game play was very smooth. I believe the game was about 2 hours long sans working these puzzles of which I only worked a few. Dialog could be skipped but the voice overs were so well done I didn't feel the need to "escape" them.

I used a credit to buy this game but would not have felt disappointed if I had paid full price. Show less

Outstanding game. Crisp, rich colors and graphics. Beautifully drawn characters and scenes. I absolutely love this series. The game play was fascinating and drew me in. I loved that the "bad guy" was just a pawn for the real evil and that he as well as the son and father scarecrow were seeking to help the ones they loved.

Gorgeous, scenes and great HO's and Puzzles. This game had me happy all the way to the end. I will be playing this one again and again. If just to look at the beautiful scenes and of course the adorable boy scarecrow. I am looking forward to the sequel.

Like Pennmom, it started slow, wasn't impressed; but I really enjoyed this one!
Map was good; no journal.
HOs were few. Graphics are good.
I really liked the mini-games, especially the final one.
Storyline was very good, a little sad ending; but of course, a sequel is forthcoming.
VERY ENJOYABLE!!

Light from the League are visually captivating with creative creatures well executed

reasonable puzzles

storylines are fun and usually different, not copies of all

these games do have similarities but this group is just entertaining!

I simply loved everything about this game. Unlike most games of this type, even the storyline is not just a backdrop to present a whole slew of puzzles and Hidden Object Scenes (HOS's). Instead, the storyline is quite original and extremely interesting. As for the puzzles and HOS's, yes, there are a whole lot of them - but all quite original and very interesting as well. Even if you play at the hardest level, the challenge is quite reasonable. Finally, the graphics and the music are also quite wonderful.

In closing, I would just like to note that, in all the game reviews I have written, I never gave any game any "grades." I tend to only mark the "My Overall Rating" stars. But I can't resist giving this particular game an A++!!! I just enjoyed it so much, and I hope you will all enjoy it just as much as I did. :) Show less

I'm usually a big fan of this little series, which I've always considered to be a "sleeper" series. What I mean by that is that for the most part, the games have been surprisingly good, but never really made the spotlight. Dark Omens was released in 2013, and earned a 4.5 rating average, Wicked Harvest was released in 2014, and earned a 4.6 average rating and Silent Mountain was released in 2015, earning a 4.4 average star rating. When "The Gatherer" released the Collector's Edition on July 15, my first reaction was that the series had hit a brick wall because after playing the demo, I was bored, it had nothing new or exciting to offer. Reluctantly, I purchased the game when a good sale came around so I could complete my League of Light library, and I have to admit, everything got way better! Now I'm not saying this is the best game in the series, but I am saying that I judged this book by the demo, and the demo is just a grain of sand, that distracted me from seeing the beautiful beach.

After saving Hank Hunter and his young son Tom, from the evil witch, the Hank has asked you return to Blake's Mountain, to keep his family safe.Someone has been impersonating a League of Light agent, and as soon as you arrive, the imposter has you thrown in jail! Young Tom joins you once again, as the adorable yet creepy scarecrow with hollow eyes. The two of you attempt to stop the imposter from "gathering" the scarecrow and other human abominations, for reasons not yet known, but will it be too late?

You get the choice of playing the game as a Male detective, or a Female detective, or no gender which I'm assuming means to voice dialog at all. I chose the female voice, but thought it was funny that whenever my female voice spoke out loud, a silhouette of a man would appear at the top right corner, was that supposed to be my character? The Collector's Edition version offers 24 Hidden Owls, 6 Collectible Character Figurines, 20 puzzle pieces and 9 Achievements to earn.

The Hidden Object Scenes are far and few between, but fairly decent and in different variations including small Zoom Zone scenes. My favorite was finding pictures on the jail cell wall that matches the description being read. There are also Interactive Listed items, and Silhouetted Shape finds, and Multiples of the same item finds.

The Mini Games get more challenging as you progress, but are still fairly easy to solve. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo, and a few notable game after the demo:

1) Swap tiles on the basket lid so that there are no duplicate tiles on any column or row.

2) Find misplaced items and place them where they belong as a story is being told.

3) Throw a rope when the ball reaches the center mark.

4) Use a partial code to figure out a lock combination.

5) Find and drag objects in the image to their correct places during a picture story.

6) Select matching pairs by flipping over two coins at a time.

7) Place labels on bottles using silhouettes as a clue.

8) Select a path to sneak past the bandits. If one spots you, you will be caught and have to start over.

9) Use the cursor to fly the balloon over obstacles to reach the ship.

The Collector's Edition has 6 Music Soundtracks, 18 Wallpapers, 36 Concept Art pictures, 9 Achievements, 6 Collectible Character Figures, 20 Puzzle Pieces, 24 Hidden Owls, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Show less

The latest game in the League of Light series “The Gatherer” is a return to Blake’s Mountain and is a tie-in of sorts to “Wicked Harvest” a very popular game that was released in 2014. Once again we have our little scarecrow helper but this time we witness his transformation from average boy to scarecrow as he is trying to help us very early in the game. It seems that evil is afoot in Blake’s Mountain and Hank Hunter has the feeling that he is being watched and has requested help from the League detectives. You arrive in Blake’s Mountain expecting to meet with Hank but instead you are greeted by a guard who refuses to believe that you are a detective sent by the League to help, particularly because someone else is masquerading as the League detective. It is not long before you find yourself in chains and now you must escape before you will be able to help anyone.

The graphics are not as excellent as they were in the earlier games in the series and seem to be a bit washed out. It is also rather ludicrous that we have the Hank Hunter sounding and looking as if he is a member of the Confederate Army in the US while he is from Blake’s Mountain in Ireland. There is a custom game option available but IMHO it is rather useless.

Your tools include a transporter type map and a little scarecrow helper who I happen to think is quite cute. I know some gamers hate helpers and I don’t always mind them but guess it happens to depend on the helper, the game and my mood – lol.

The HOPS are extremely well-crafted and excellent. There is a lot of variety so I doubt you will become bored as you play through the game. I personally am fairly old-school and love the standard list type HOPS but those are what were available when I began playing HOPA games ages ago. The mini-games are almost too easy at times and not as entertaining as the HOP scenes. Generally the minis increase in difficulty as we play through the game so I am holding out hope for so more challenging puzzles later.
The CE version of the game is fairly light on extras so it is a matter of preference between buying the CE or waiting for the SE release a month from now.

We all like different things in games but I was surprised at the low ratings given to the game by some other reviewers. I happen to love the League of Light series and although the graphics might not be as terrific I still am enjoying the gameplay. It took me a bit longer to get started and to figure out what to do when I first arrived at Blake’s Mountain but once I found the one item I needed, I moved forward quite easily. I actually liked the storyline and found the game quite entertaining. After completing the game, I still believe that it is quite a good game, although not the best in the series. Even though I love this game, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. Show less
