I was totally surprised to see that Eventide was released as a Standard Edition! The first Eventide was released as a Collector's Edition, and even though this game isn't a Collector's Edition, it does offer several features that usually aren't offered in a Standard version. There are 14 Cards with Imps, and 20 Glimmering Mirrors to collect as well as Achievements to earn in several different categories. I have several punch card coupons, so I used a coupon without hesitation. This game is just what the doctor ordered, and I'm not disappointed in the least bit!
This isn't a bad game at all, especially if you compare apples to apples, so for a Standard Edition price, it's well worth it. The graphics are a bit cartoonish, especially some of the characters, but the storyline is decent, and some of the features are really good. You have a journal that has the usual objectives section, and you have a Herbarium section that can be used as a picture reference during the HO's (which I'll explain in the next paragraph) and you have a section that lists your "Moral Choices" During the game, you will be given the chance to make several moral decisions, and the decisions you make WILL affect the ending of the game. To me, this is a cool feature, this option has been used before, but usually they are generic questions and answers that don't really change the outcome.
The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly FROG's, where you find several fragments that will fit together and form a useful inventory item. The other Hidden Object Scenes require finding multiples of different herbs, berries, mushrooms etc. and you can refer to your journal Herbarium for pictures to help you identify them.
The Mini Games are fairly easy, and there's not really anything new, but they aren't that bad. Below are brief descriptions of some of the Mini Games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Use gloves to drag thorny branches away one at a time.
2) Click on objects indicated as keywords in a sentence.
3) Connect identical symbols with an uninterrupted chain in three different puzzles.
There are 17 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 25 replayable Mini Games, 7 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 14 Cutscenes, 24 collectible Notes, 20 Glimmering Mirrors, 14 Cards with Imps to collect, 5 HOP related Achievements, 3 Mini Game related Achievements, 12 game related Achievements, 7 Speciality Achievements to earn, choose well and enjoy! Another great SE game this week and they are both from the same developer. In Eventide 2: Sorcerer’s Mirror you must save your niece from an evil sorcerer who wants to use her for his nefarious purpose. While scaling a dangerous cliff, you and Jenny are almost killed but even worse, Jenny is kidnapped and now you must find her at all cost.
It looks like Sorcerer’s Mirror was originally designed for release as a CE since there are collectibles to be found during your adventure. The graphics tend to be a mixed bag with some of them being hand-drawn while others seem to be computer generated. Overall, aside from the coloration, the graphics are excellent. The game offers a custom setting but you cannot turn off the misclick penalty so I don’t really see the point. When the game begins you are told that the choices you make along the way will change the game’s outcome. You have an interactive map to help you during your adventure as well as a Journal that includes notes, tasks and a Herbarium that identifies rare plants.

Although many of the HOS are fragmented object scenes (FROGs) there is still some variety to be found. I happened to like the scenes as most objects were easy to spot and not dreadfully small as those in a recent game that almost made me crazy. The scenes are well-designed and enjoyable to play.
Yes, the puzzles are very easy but there are times when I enjoy easy puzzles. I am a puzzle lover and look forward to them in HOPA games but I enjoy a mix of moderate to challenging puzzles in a game. If the puzzles are all too easy then they quickly become rather boring. I am hopeful that the puzzles will increase with difficulty as I move through the game.
There is no strategy guide but the game includes wallpapers, music, concept art, videos, and replay of HOPS and Mini-games. All in all the game has everything that most CEs include aside from the SG and Bonus game.
I am finding the gameplay to be quite enjoyable. Even though the storyline is nothing new it is interesting and well-told. I happen to enjoy games from this developer so I purchased the game right away this morning with one of those free coupons I acquire for purchasing CE games. Please try the demo to see if Eventide 2: Sorcerer’s Mirror will be a keeper for you as well. Show less

This game has an awesome story line to it, I will admit when I first started playing, my first thought was here we go again another super cheesy cartoonish game. I was proven wrong and I loved every minute of it.
The challenges were done quite well, it was enough to make you think about what you had to do, but not so hard you wanted to pull your hair out trying to solve them.
The interactive aspect of this game was also fairly in depth, it felt like there were many things that you could interact with that told you more of the story. It helped make that story a bit more realistic but also unforgettable, I find with certain games it is easy to forget the story when it is told to you all at once, This is a story that is not easy to forget due to the fantastic interactive features.
I had a lot of fun playing this game and wish it was a bit longer, I was able to complete the game in a little under 3 days playing for just a little bit at a time. Now had I started this game on a Friday night or Saturday Morning I probably could have completed it all in one go, it;s that good.
Overall, Fantastic game and would highly recommend.

Kudos to Artifex Mundi and Big Fish for this sequel to the 2015 Eventide Slavic Fable. Now more than ever is an exciting time to be a Big Fish game member with their latest trend of offering more superb Standard Edition games to members! In this edition you’re out rock-climbing with your niece and she gets kidnapped by a crazy wizard who wants to try and resurrect his dead neglected wife? That’s the story behind The House of Fables’ Eventide 2: The Sorcerer’s Mirror, which is a strange mix of adventure game and hidden object game. The game is set out by a series of different areas that have a variety of puzzles that you need to solve to move into the next one. This allows developer House of Fables to make a story that is more involved than a series of hidden object puzzles that don’t have much to link them. Aiding this is the series of cut-scenes, though these are pretty janky: the people move somewhat robotically, their lip syncing is very well executed and the magical effects really fits in with the rest of the animation style. The main focus of Eventide 2 is the hidden object puzzles, which come in three varieties: a classical “here’s a list, find these things”, a slight variance that shows you an image of what you’re looking for and a “find x amount of this thing”. The first is used to find a specific item in an environment, the second is to find pieces of quest items that you then assemble and the third is to gather ingredients for the crafting system. The crafting system is based mostly around herbs and healing remedies, so you’ll be locating mushrooms and plants and then combining them in your inventory. These are very specific, and you get a list each time that you have to make a recipe. The exceptions to this are the few times you need to either break something or repair tools, though this involves either just clicking a lot or dragging a pole to a tool head. To mix up the tried-and-tired hidden object gameplay, some of the hidden objects are actually hidden behind other things, or are in locked boxes. The game tells you which objects you can’t see by highlighting its name, and there’s normally only a couple in each section. These added an extra layer of thought, but become somewhat obvious as the cursor changes when you hover over something you can move.
There’s a variety of other puzzles to fill in the gaps, though none of them are especially taxing or original. Eventide 2 holds your hand a bit (expert players may not like this), and the only puzzles that are reused are object identification puzzles that ask you to click on the symbol that represents a word. At the first two difficulty levels you can skip these if you wish, and you don’t really miss anything if you came for hidden object. Eventide 2 has moral choices throughout, and it claims that it makes a difference to the story but it doesn’t really. It is a case of choosing to be an honest, helpful, nice person or a total jerk, but both seem to be means to a similar end. There are also two types of collectibles hidden throughout the game, handheld mirrors and imp cards. The cards are pretty easy to spot, but the mirrors blend in rather well with a lot of the scenes. Eventide 2: The Sorcerer’s Mirror was a little more than I expected which is awesome: it’s been many years since I last played a hidden object game and I didn’t think that the genre would have moved on as much as it has. The writing was obviously translated into English, and the voice acting matches the odd look of the cut-scenes, but the gameplay is amusing for the two-three hours there and it has a more than satisfying conclusion. Don't miss out on this epic adventure and if you haven't played the 1st Eventide, I highly recommend it too!

My fellow Fishies have given good descriptions about this game :) Although the story-line is a little hard to follow, it isn't bad and a WT is not needed as the hint/map tells you all you need to know.
I really enjoyed the artwork, especially the old world clothing and atmosphere. The Mini-games and hidden object scenes were good :)

This is a little gem of a game that doesn't get enough promo on BFG.

The artwork is not as nice as I would like, but is high def, and some interior scenes are gorgeous and wallpaper-worthy.
The puzzles are easy, but that's OK by me. HOPs are standard variety, but some items are well camouflaged.
I like that hardcore mode allows Hint, Skip and helpful messages.
The best part, and tremendous value, of the game is you get 2 collectibles (14 imp cards, 20 glimmering mirrors) hidden throughout the game, achievements, replayable puzzles/HOPs/cut scenes, wallpapers, concept art, ie all the bling of a CE game, but at SE price. There is a room with all your achievements, collectibles displayed. The imp cards are cute.
I was pleasantly surprised by this game, and will be looking to buy the other game in the series.
