Once scattered throughout the land, the Mosaics of the Ancients have been gathered and brought together at the cradle of their once-glorious civilization. As the only one with the knowledge to decipher their riddles, it now comes to you to free their magic and use it to restore the City of the Ancients and bring a new Golden Age to the kingdom.

Mystery Mosaics II is a nonogram (aka Picross, Pic-a-Pix or Paint-by-Numbers) with a colorful twist: this time around, each mosaic is made up of three different colors, each of which must be solved separately for three times the fun. The more precise and efficient you are in solving the game’s 100 levels, the more points you’ll earn and the faster you’ll be able to rebuild the structures of the ancient city.
  • Exciting visual logic gameplay
  • New three-color Picross puzzles!
  • 100 puzzle levels
  • Over 30 buildings to build
  • Mystery Mosaics

If you like this type of game I am sure you will like this one, anyone that has played this type knows what it is about. What's new is you build the buildings. Pictures are clear(you can make out what they are) Music fits. Game is logic. So for me this game is a must have. I love these types.

I agree with sunnyglow’s excellent description of this game. I find most nanograms to be too simplistic for my taste and they are often poorly designed. This one is excellent! I purchased the game after demo’ing it for 30 minutes and look forward to hours of enjoyable game play.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to new time management games for us Mac users.

OVERVIEW: Are you up to rebuilding the city of the Ancients? Grab your hard hats and put your brains in gear in this excellent 5-star nonogram game. This developer has set the foundation for this game by constructing beautifully designed puzzles. The final pictures resulting from completion of the puzzle are realistic looking. The grids vary in size from 10 x 10 to 10 x 15 and perhaps even larger.
As you play the one-hundred (100) puzzles within this game, you will earn points which will be used to purchase buildings and other items for this new town. Points are earned based on the time to solve the puzzle, the mistakes made, and the stars awarded. Extras include a hand to fill in squares and a hammer to fill in empty squares. Unlike other games of the genre, there are only three colors per puzzle; however, you can switch between colors. The colors are also vivid and easy to see.
I LOVE these games and this developer has produced a good one. This puzzle has various names (Griddlers, Nonograms, Paint-by-Numbers, Pic-a-Pix, Nonograms or whatever you call them); however, no matter the name, they are a fun puzzle game.
HOW TO PLAY: This is variety of a Sudoku puzzle. In this puzzle, create pictures by filling in squares in a grid. The grids in this game will vary in size. Each side of the grid will have numbers for each line of squares indicating the number of squares which are to be filled in for that row of squares. Squares are filled in where the squares intersect between the two sets of numbers on each side.
GAME FACTS:
• Colors: The game has up to three colored screens which can be switched at any time while playing the puzzle.
• Autofill: There is autofill so you do not have to fill in the unused boxes. However, you can use your mouse to right click “X’s” for unused spaces.
• Hints: There are six (6) hints per puzzle.
• Number of Puzzles: There are one-hundred (100) puzzles – each worth three (3) stars. Stars are awarded as to number of errors you make in completing the puzzle.
• Aids: There is a hand icon to fill in squares and a hammer icon to fill in empty squares.
• Awards: Points are accumulated to purchase items for the city of the Ancients. Points are earned as per time used to complete the puzzle, amount of errors, and stars earned.
• Errors: There are five (5) errors allowed per puzzle before starting over.
• 18 Achievements: Unlike other nonogram games, there are achievements which can be earned.
I highly recommend this game if you like Sudoku games or any type of mathematical puzzle. Show less

==Also, the white tiles are hard to see against the background.

2) The two colors of brown are too much alike when a row/column with both in it is selected. You can't tell the difference.
3) The little swirly lines that move between the puzzle steps in the menu of steps annoy me, even though they only last a second or two. Just let me go on to the next puzzle, please.
4) I don't actually care about building the houses. It's not like it is giving me anything!
5) I can't find any way to look at the awards I have won (no hints, no mistakes, etc.) If there is a button to get there, I can't find it. Please let me go to an achievements page and gloat! Much better than building the houses.
6) MOST IMPORTANTLY. Please let me assign a name to myself. Why? I goofed. that's why. Even though the game asked me if I REALLY wanted to start a new game, I said "yes" when I didn't want to. If it had asked me for a new name after I mistakenly said yes, maybe I wouldn't have goofed. Plus, if I'd had to enter a new name, it would have saved the old game even if I started over! (I actually should blame my husband, not the game. He was talking to me at the time.)
Anyway, this is a great mosaic puzzle game. It allows you enough errors that you aren't starting over all the time--unless you are going for that perfect score. So it's better, I think, than the Fantasy series, which doesn't let you make enough mistakes. (Though I like that series, too!)
Try it! If you like this type of puzzle, you will like this game. Show less

Mystery Mosaic 2 has come a long way, making vast improvements over the first game offered. The problem with this game is that it is way too easy. Mystery Mosaic 2 has come a long way, making vast improvements over the first game offered. The problem with this game is that it is way too easy. After playing just the demo itself, I was able to solve so many grids, that I would never get my money's worth because at this pace, I'll finish the game in about an hour or an hour in and a half. I enjoyed my hour solving the grids, and it was a good game, I'm sure it will receive many 5 star ratings, but I want a little more of a challenge. On the bright side, at least they are puzzles that are solved by logic, not guessing like so many other games offered.
Mystery Mosaics 2 offers 100 different levels of various sized grids, and there are 18 Achievement Trophies to earn as well. You will earn points for each grid solved, the more stars you earn, the more points you'll earn. You can use up to 6 hints per level (you probably won't use any) and you are allowed up to 5 mistakes. You can purchase buildings with your earned income, to build a town, but I found this feature worthless. You don't get any bonuses, power-ups or super powers, you just get to build a virtual building, what's the point?
The graphics are hand drawn, but basic, and there are only 3 colors available, at least within the demo, perhaps more colors are added as you progress. The pictures do make sense, and the colors are different enough to give them depth, but they aren't all that appealing at times.
For me personally, this game didn't impress me enough to want to buy it, therefor it doesn't constitute a 5 star rating. However, I would recommend this game for beginners, or someone who is looking for an easy breezy game to relax and enjoy! Show less

What's strange is that the backgrounds and village illustrations are the complete opposite: bright, sunny, fantasy colored castles and skies. Bizarre. I really enjoy the nonogram & mosaic games, but confess that since I already live in the Ever-Grey State, I prefer not having to look at more grey while frittering away the time. ugh.
If this doesn't bother you, then you'll likely enjoy this game, especially with a free game code or on sale! Definitely worth running through the demo, it was very simple initially, but got more complex quickly. Show less

In Mystery Mosaic 2 the result of completing a group of 10 puzzles involves the rebuild of the City of the Ancients.
Personally I could care less about this aspect. While I find the Fantasy Mosaics series the best of the genre, the end play of completing the penguin diorama does nothing for me as the grids themselves are all I need to satisfy.
I do wish to clarify a comment made by a fellow reviewer who likens grid games to Sudoku as griddlers are nothing at all like Sudoku. Sudoku arranges the numbers 1 thru 9 in a pattern where none of these numbers can be repeated in the same row either horizontally or vertically. So if any Sudoku lovers who are not familiar with these mosaics, do not be confused as the 2 types of games are worlds apart.
I myself will not buy this game yet I do recommend it for players who relish these sometimes challenging games.

Pluses:

-There are achievements, if you like them
Plus or Minus - depending on your skill level:
-I haven't finished, but so far, the puzzles are very easy.
Minus - and it's a HUGE one for me:
-There is only the standard griddler type puzzle in this game, The previous game and its sister game, Mystery Riddles, had a full set of levels that you could play in the usual griddler style, but also in what they called Fill-a-pix.
Fill-a-pix are very hard to find and I can't even tell you how disappointed I am that they were not included. There are tons of griddler games now, but I know of only two that have Fill-a-pix. If you don't like them or have never tried them, then by all means try this game. You may just love it. If you were hoping to find them in this game, though, you'll be disappointed. Show less
