Time Management

I am not a huge fan of HO games, which seem to flood this site and the TM games that have been coming out have all been in the same resource gathering style lately. That style was fun at first, but now there are too many and I get bored with them.

I have been waiting in vain for a Chocolatier style game, but this one will do in the mean time.
The gameplay is pretty straight forward.....you buy ships, fix them up, and sell them to achieve your goals.
This game has clear goals listed in the upper left corner, simply click on the icon to expand. However for added difficulty, some new goals pop up mid way through a level.
I found that based on the listed goals, your strategy will need to change for each level. Sometimes you need to meet a gathering coins goal, but sometimes it is all about upgrading the ships. I found that sometimes I had to replay a level and revise my strategy to achieve the gold time, but so far they have all been attainable.
I played through the entire free trial and immediately used one of my game credits, and I am fairly picky about which games I will use them on. This game however, I had no reservations about buying.
I am still waiting for something like Chocolatier, Wandering Willows, Orchard or Totem Tribe, but this is a good, fun, challenging game that is well worth a game credit if you are looking for a different kind of TM other than the same old ones we have been getting. Show less

If you can raise enough money to pay off the scoundrel, you'll be free and clear. With a few resources to start and seed money from the sale of modest fishing boats, you can start a business repairing leaking hulls and tattered sails.
I'm early into the game but using upgrades I now have my own sailing ship and have moved on to Port Royal. Hints of trade in my new port of call and dark pirate sails on the horizon promise more adventures and challenges ahead.

This starts off a little slow, but the difficulty and fun increases with the levels. If you enjoy the Fix-It-Up time management series, you will enjoy this game. It is the same concept using sailboats instead of cars.
I recommend this game!

What a great little game! It's delightful. It's about a girl who has to marry a guy and needs to make some money to get out of it. You buy ships, rig and arm them then sell them. Sound easy? It's not. You can purchase sailors, upgrade docks and fulfil requests. Absolutely loved it, thank you BF.

Basically you buy ships of various shapes and size (hint..watch the upper left corner which tells you what kind of ships need fixing ) You sell them to make a profit...keep in mind there is some strategy you need to employ in order to win the level. Another thing to keep in mind too...rather than selling your vessels you can send your ships to battle by dragging them to the fighting area on the lower left screen.
Another thing to watch for is some of the ships you need are over-priced and some are under-priced..just watch that closely and you'll make some gold while also repairing the ship.
I had a hard time staying away from this game...and I'm glad that I bought it !!! There are some area's of the game that don't give clear instructions...don't let that deter you...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out !!!
I highly recommend this game...you can't go wrong with this one !!! Show less

Love this game. It adds a great twist to the Time Management genre. I agree with others who wonder why folks are complaining about no instructions. The goals and how to get them are pretty clear. I can totally understand both the good and bad reviews. l Love Kate's fix a lot adventures of fixing, renting, washing, and selling cars, while trying to build up her empire. If you're not a fan, you're not going to like Set Sail Either. The gameplay is nearly identical using ships instead of cars. At first when I played I was disappointed and frustrated with the higher level of challenge (I nearly always got all gold stars the first time I played through each of the three Kate's fix it up games), but then I realized perhaps a challenge is a bit refreshing. For those who said the goals weren't clear, I agree with you to some extent...I made several time wasting errors over-upgrading ships or sending too many out to sea when I should have been selling or selling too many I should have been sending out to sea. After playing all the way through a couple times, I was able to figure out a winning pattern for most levels, but I still have a few more I'm trying to figure out how to get more than one "anchor" star for. All in all, I give all of Kate's fix-it-up car games 5 stars and this one 4 stars for being a little more challenging than I like, and for not being quite as clear as how to reach the level goals on some of the levels. I hope to see a Set Sail Part 2 and Part 3 in the coming months/years with improvements, as IMHO Kate's Fix-it-up Part 2 and Part 3 were each better than the previous. I plan on playing Set Sail over and over again until I can get the sense of accomplishment of finishing every level w/ 3 treasure chests, even if I have to go online to find a walkthrough to give me some hints. =) Show less
