When a new museum exhibit began omitting strange noises, Diana went to investigate the giant stone disc. In the blink of an eye, the disk discharged an eerie beam of energy that grabbed Diana and yanked her into another realm. At first glance, Diana thought the portal had landed her into the past, inside a Mayan Temple, but now she's not so sure that she's still on Earth! Even scarier, the portal that brought her here, won't be taking her back home, because the portal has been ripped to shreds!

Just a few Collector's Editions ago, I made the comment that collectibles and morphs are way too easy to find because the cursor changes to a giant hand and shouts "here I am" I said it would be awesome if there were an option to turn off the "here I am" cursor to make finding the collectibles more challenging, and that's exactly what this awesome game has offered in the custom setting mode of the CE version! Speaking of which, if you love interesting collectibles as much as I do, you're going to want to opt for the Collector's Edition, because there are a ton of collectibles: 7 Pyramids, 7 Diety Statuettes, 8 Decorated Skulls, 8 Stone Heads, and 12 Clay Flasks that gives you the history of the Endless River Valley AND unlocks 20 levels of additional mini games! There are also 30 Morphing Objects that will also unlock a puzzle in the bonus section if you find all of them, this is one of the few CE versions that actually gives you your money's worth when it comes to "extra's"

The Hidden Object Scenes are far and few between, but mostly Interactive, Progressive Silhouetted Shape Finds that require you to find objects that match the silhouetted shapes shown, and use those items back into the scene interactively to expose the next object and so forth, as well as solving small puzzles within the scenes.

The Mini games are clever and are all about stone Mayan type stone puzzles. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:

1) Rotate the cubes to arrange them correctly according to the clues you found.

2) Use the arrow buttons to spin the circle until the blue ball moves to the blue button.

3) Use the buttons and circles to rotate the statue parts and restore the images on them.

4) Rotate the circles to move all the green crystals to the central circle.

5) Arrange the hands to the correct positions according to the clue you found.
6) Rotate the discs and move the horizontal bar to arrange the balls as indicated on the pattern.

7) Repeat the pattern by opening and closing the beetles.

The Collector's Edition has 9 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 18 Videos, 8 Music Soundtracks, 21 Achievements, 18 replayable Mini Games, 6 replayable puzzles (others can be unlocked) Collectibles to unlock more Mini Games, 8 Story Scrolls to unlock history story, 30 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! This game is awesome. There is so much to do and plenty of places to visit. There is:

* Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom modes of play (you can turn off Hint and Skip to make it harder);

The graphics are very good and everywhere is clear to see. Sound is good and the music is gorgeous which I had on very loud.

The hidden object games are all highly interactive silhouette - find one item to use to find another, etc. These are not hard but they still take a bit of time to do. I enjoyed them.

There are a good variety of mini-games to play which had a great challenge. Some took me ages to do. The answers to some of the mini-games and other important things you will need is in your diary. So if you get stuck, just check in there.

This game is quite mechanical whereby you will be building things and are often looking for and using items of a mechanical nature. There are lots of tiles and runes to find as well.

So, do you get the CE or SE? The bonus game is completely separate from the main game, so no missing out of any story line at the end of this game. In the CE there are 21 Achievements, 30 morphing objects and 42 collection items to find plus all the other extras that we find in CE games. If you like all the bling bling, then get the CE. If not, then SE is perfectly fine to play as well.

Overall, a great game and well done to the developers. I have all their games and often play them again a second time.
Definitely comes recommended. Show less

I initially thought this game was going to be very amateurish based on other games I have played that looked similar, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fun game and kept me entertained all the way through.

I played on the hardest level and the games and HOP were relatively easy. Not childish, but I didn't need to skip or go looking for cheats either. The neat thing about the HOP is that they aren't your typical junk pile. You have to find actual objects that make sense in the storyline and interact with the scene to complete. I also appreciated that you kept your machete most of the game. That's a pet-peeve of mine. You need a knife and after you use it, it disappears. Then in the next scene, you need to cut something and off you go hunting for another knife, of sharp glass, or whatever crazy thing the developers came up with.

The scenes were nice and clear, no muddy, dark colors. The characters mouths were off from the words, and often the dialogue was just text, but I forgave these little flaws since overall it was entertaining.

I definitely recommend this game! Show less

The Legacy Forgotten Gates is a new game from a developer whose games I love! This excellent creative team has brought us the incredible New York Mysteries as well as other award worthy games such as the Lost Lands and House of 1000 Doors series and one of my favorite older games Forbidden Secrets Alien Town. All of these games can be found here at BFG and I highly recommend that you give them a try if you are new to the HOPA genre and looking for some wonderful games.

In the opening cut scene of Forgotten Gates we learn that you (playing the game as Diana) are finishing up your work in the Mayan display at a museum when you hear a noise and go to investigate. No sooner do you reach the large Mayan stone calendar than it splits and you are sucked into a portal that lands you in an ancient land. Before long you begin to wonder where you actually might have landed. During your adventure you meet a host of interesting characters who will either help or hinder your progress as you survey the land.

This game is full of gorgeous graphics and wonderful gameplay. The technical features include a custom level that allows you to tinker with the settings. Your tools include the best maps ever designed for HOPA games and are familiar if you have played other games by this creative team. I like the multi-tabbed sections of the map that appear on the right as they let you know where you have active tasks and also indicate where collectibles still need to be found.

The HOP scenes are mostly done with items being shown in silhouette but there are not too many true HOP scenes. Since this is a light adventure style game most of the items you need to find are available as you survey the landscape and you will simply pick them up as you find them. The puzzles are easy but they are a lot of fun. I didn’t feel the need to skip any of them in the game. Because I own almost every game from this developer, I am familiar with the puzzles but that doesn’t mean they are boring. .

If you prefer the CE version of a game this one includes collectibles and morphing objects to find. The collectibles will complete 5 different set with sets of between 7-12 items in each. There are 30 morphing objects to spot as well as achievements to earn. The other extras are the standard items found in most CE games including a strategy guide and the bonus chapter. IMHO, this developer provides a lot of extra content in their games so the CEs are a great value.

I purchased the CE version of the game as soon as it was released and I must say that I it is one of those games that lived up to my expectations. The Legacy Forgotten Gates is a game that I will certainly play many times just as I have the games mentioned above. Because we all have different tastes in games, please try the demo to see if The Legacy Forgotten Gates is a one you will enjoy as well. Hopefully you will like the SE just as much as I did the CE version. Happy gaming! Show less

Pure and simple, I really loved this game. Different atmosphere and things to see (eye candy), story-line, graphics just everything ! and although I bought the CE I recommend this game either CE or SE especially if you like something different.

So much time and care has been taken over getting scenery, backgrounds, and story to look and feel right. But where are you? I see two moons/planets in the sky! Music enhances the effect of having large areas to roam around in. Non-stop sound effects, with depth to them.

Perhaps if you're looking for a modern setting, hi-tech, or fast-moving game with rapid action, it may not be your cup of tea.

STORY - Story unfolds throughout the game at intervals, so that you are constantly made aware of new information. Lots of notes to find. Relaxing and lots to see. At any point you can return to any scene in the game. There are chapters, but you aren't restricted to those areas only. You'll return to earlier scenes to complete them. Kept me on my toes.

GRAPHICS – Adjustable resolution to 1600 x 900. Widescreen/Fullscreen.

HOPS – 8

PUZZLES: All skippable.
SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is suitable and totally separate. Great atmospheric music: pipes, drums and synth, percussion sounds. Bird song everywhere.

Usually skip cut scenes, but found myself watching them. Puzzles are fun. I like that the search boxes exit automatically when everything has been found. Map layout is easy to navigate. Characters are likable. It really was an impulse buy that turned out to be a gem. Thanks for all the hard work.

Five-BN games are my favorite, and they have done it again. Great story-line and very interesting game. I love that the HOGs aren't regular Hidden Object scenes. I have always preferred seek and use scenes. This kept me interested from start to finish. Hope they come out with another one.
