I like the story line (I also love the Indiana J... Films) ... Gameplay of all the games is very similar - but chalenging - a good engine. So 5 (maybe 4) stars for me.

The story is almost totally stolen from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, with some world travel that does not affect the gameplay thrown in. I liked that part.
I also like the Match-3's that got harder and harder to complete as the game progressed. You could do something and get gold and something else and get stars. I never figured out how to get more than one star, as the guidance is minimal. There are power-ups that take a LONG TIME to refill once you use them and sometimes there are not enough matches on the board to refill, so the unfilled power-up carries over to the next level. But I enjoyed that the levels took more than 3 minutes to complete.
What I did not enjoy was that no matter how large a match one made 4,5,6,7 the only bonus you got was a little sun that when clicked cleared a couple of squares. And, if you're trying to refill a power-up, the squares creating the little sun or removed with the little sun don't get added to the fill meter for the power-up. That requires more thinking than I care to do.
So I'm not sure. There are levels that cannot be completed without using one or more power-ups. That may be a no-go for some, and I didn't really like it either. Another downer: You can't go back and repeat a level, you can only create a new player and start over.

If you are a match 3 fan I think you will like this one. I'm leaving my options open and may come back later and purchase.

I was actually looking forward to playing this game because the graphics looked amazing, and it looked like a fun Match 3 game. The first problem I encountered, after downloading the game on my Windows Computer, was with the cursor, or lack thereof! I couldn't access any of the options, I couldn't even click on the play button because my cursor was nowhere to be found. Still, my interest was piqued, so I downloaded it on my Mac, and ta-dah! I had a cursor.
You can play in a Timed, or Relaxed difficulty mode, and you can earn up to 3 Stars per level. The levels are actually challenging, not too difficult, but challenging enough to make it difficult to earn all 3 Stars. This was another issue area for me because there is No option to replay the levels. If you're going to offer a game that allows you to earn stars or points, then you should also allow the player to replay the levels, to try and earn a better score or star rating!
I loved the Ancient Artifact, rune-like gems, but I had difficulty spotting matches at times because some of the gems were too similar, but that's could just be a personal issue. The music was weird and made no sense. My journey took me to the Youcan, the Amazon, and Greece, by level 6, and yet the music switched to something I'd expect to be playing in a Chinese restaurant? One minute it has an upbeat tempo, the next seems more like a guitar riff followed by something you'd expect to hear in a cartoon when someone falls off a cliff. The storyline follows a young Treasure Hunter named Jason, searching for clues about his fathers' disappearance while on an archeological expedition. Most of the cutscenes are narrated by Jason, who has a soft, soothing voice, but once the game takes you to the level map, a very loud, grating voice screams out "Amazon or Greece" I think I about jumped out of my chair the first time.
The Match 3 game itself, is just an ordinary game, with the same power-ups and features that most of theM3 games by this dev has. There are 7 different Power-ups available, such as a Hammer, a Lightning Trident or Hand Grenade. and they are recharged by making matches of corresponding elements on the board. After each level, you can purchase 20 Artifacts, and read about each artifact in your Journal. This is also where you learn about the storyline and where and why you are going next. Again, this story part is kind of weird, but I suppose it goes along with the music.
Large matches will earn a power-up on the board, a M5 gives you a Sun explosion, a M6 gives you a horizontal line Lightning explosion, and a M7 gives you a Bomb to destroy several surrounding tiles. There are the usual obstructions, Chains, Double Chains and Crates, and the usual goal of making matches over all yellow cells.
Once I made it to level 6, I noticed that I had no available matches at the top section that was blocked by several Chained gems. I was expecting to be able to make matches below them, to clear a path, but that wasn't the case. As I made matches below the top section, the cells below didn't regenerate new tile, but simply emptied the cells. It was then that I realized I'd probably have to use a power-up to break the chains and allow the tiles to fill in the empty cells. I kept making random matches that did nothing to progress the game, and eventually, there were no more available matches. Surprise! A window popped up to tell me that there weren't any available matches and that I would have to use a power-up tool to continue! I was done at that point if I can't replay the levels, and some levels force you to use a power-up, nope, not for me.

I love match-3 games, and while this didn't have the look of a lot of newer games (remade mobile games with bloated tiles), it just wasn't very good. The entire thing was just a bit out of focus. Not so much to affect game play, but still...
Choose timed or relaxed. Use power-ups to break tiles of your choice (I question the wisdom in these days of making one a hand grenade...). I played through four locations (Yucatan, Amazon, Greece, Tibet) and so far all you do is change all the gold tiles. I will assume it gets harder. If there are no moves on the board the tiles will reshuffle on their own. I'm not sure how you get full stars, or full gold. I had 3 gold stars on a board, yet got zero gold.
Your goal is to collect artifacts. After a few boards in each location you are awarded one artifact. The end goal to find the one your father may have died to find. Armed treasure hunters (count us into that number, we are not our father's son, with pure motives) are after the same things, and threaten to shoot you now and again. Sorry, enough shootings in real life to wonder why they thought that was a good idea. Anyway... the game...
We are suddenly joined by a boy in a loincloth, who has a man's voice. We "rescue" him, although I never figured out what his problem was, other than saying "neh" or some other "help me" noise. He just stood there half naked in the Yucatan. Really? It's modern day, and the developers have a child in a loincloth? Who speaks English with a man's voice and apparently stows away in our luggage? (We ask if that is how he got to Greece.) Weird.
No rhyme nor reason as to why we are skipping around the globe, from the Yucatan to the Amazon, to Greece and over to Tibet. None of the artifacts are regional, and we learn nothing about the locations. In fact, I'm no expert and may be wrong, but the background didn't look like Greek to me (pun unintended!).
There are really good match-3 games available on BFG. See below for one of the best of the best. Go for those, skip this one. Not worth a PCC. Show less

Looks like weird lock pieces are floating around blocking arbitrarily pieces next to them but at that not consistently. Somebody on the dev team really blew the game mechanics.
This could have been decent, but was somehow totally stuffed up. Pity. Show less
