This game is soooo fun! I've played over 300 games and this is now one of my favorites. I love the story line because it differs from so many of the same old story. The HOS were varied and fun. I'm not a fan of HOS but I enjoyed these. The puzzles were fairly easy but they were fun. I did not want this game to end! I highly recommend it!

REVIEW FROM COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS
I really enjoyed this game. There's plenty to do in each scene and a real urgency to help Mark. This story is about you (Erica Bale) helping your brother Mark to get off Ambrose Island. There is:
* Voiceovers (with dialogue);
* Accident, Hazard, Disaster, Catastrophe and Custom modes;
* Interactive map.
The graphics are gorgeous and each scene is perfect and well defined. Colours are muted, so not hard on the eyes. The music is mainly orchestral, guitar and piano.
The hidden object games are interactive silhouette, straightforward, finding pairs and my ultimate favourite, the sliders (where you have a slider going downwards and one going across and you have to blend certain objects). Keep an eye out for that ever elusive morphing object in each HOP.
The mini-games ranged from being very easy to medium. A couple (like pass through all the tiles with arrows and match the lines to make a picture) took me a while to achieve. Its not like they are too hard, but there are a lot of variables to finally get to the end. These are all good fun to do and I was never bored.
So, do you get the CE or SE? The bonus is about Mark stopping the horrible experiments once and for all; there is one spiral to find in each scene throughout game and bonus; 10 Achievements (some with 3 circles) and extras like an ultimate puzzle; ultimate HOP, etc. Personally I think the CE will be better because the bonus game carries on from the main game.
All up the game, bonus and extras took me about 5 hours to do. I really enjoyed playing the game and looked forward every day to playing it.
Overall, its definitely worth investing in this game as it has everything that we want - good graphics, enough of a challenge to want to keep playing, terrific HOPs and mini-games - yep very happy.
Definitely comes recommended. Happy playing fishies. Show less

This is the third edition of the fantastic Madhead series Shadowplay and it's a fascinating to play as the other releases in this series. You play Erica Harris and you are employed by the Corp Tex Corporation to investigate a secret project where a toxic waste accident contaminating Ambose Island has occurred leaving multiple workers dead and one missing...your brother Mark! Once you arrive on the island you mission leads you to the Corp Tex lab where a strange beacon noise emanates from the main building. The building itself is a challenge to enter even for experienced casual gamers. Could the beacon be an experimental device causing this contamination? Has your brother been infected? Have you been deceived by a hidden agenda? Find out in this incredible thriller that will make you jump out of your seat!!! There aren't many games quite like Shadowplay – it is dark, twisted and incredibly engaging. Another thing that Mad Head Games always excels at is the production. You'll appreciate the amazing visuals; all the scenes are sharply rendered and look nothing short of stunning. Further, the menu and the inventory bar are smartly and cleanly designed so that they fit perfectly with the environment and do not distract players from the game. The quality of the soundtracks in Shadowplay are impressive too and they effectively build up the suspense of the game. Shadowplay thrives when most games don’t because it delivers and develops the plot in such an interactive and creative fashion through fun tasks and cool features. This was a must purchase for me and I think most fans of Mad Head will agree. I had an awesome time playing this 4 hour sci-fi adventure and another hour with the bonus chapter. Cheers!
In this series:

•Shadowplay: Whispers of the Past (intended for mature audiences).

Mad Head has had far too many misses lately for me but this one was a sure-fire hit! Great games, highly interactive hidden object scenes and a storyline that stayed throughout the whole game, you actually learned a little bit more and more as you played the game which kept me involved. Sure there were those moments where you had to suspend logic a bit but they were very few and far between.
Yes, I highly recommend this game and will tell you honestly the game gets better after the demo, unlike many games that fizzle out this one is just as good if not better after the demo.

This game has a really interesting plot that thickens after the demo, which is really rare nowadays! I find that most games lately, have a pretty decent demo that peaks right at the end of the demo, but then just drags until the very last chapter, and sometimes it doesn't ever get better. But The Forsaken Island held my attention, in fact, there were several times, that I kept playing just a little bit longer, when I had other things I had to get done other than playing a game, because I wanted to learn the how's and why's! I'm a fan of the Collector's Edition bling, so I prefer the CE version over this Standard Edition version. Here's a recap of my review, to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
Three years ago, there was an accident at the Corp Tex facility on Ambrose Island, rendering the environment extremely toxic. Drones deployed to search for survivors, were unable to detect any signs of life, so everyone is presumed to be dead, including your brother Mark, that is, until an emergency beacon was activated less than 12 hours ago! How was anyone able to survive for three years in a toxic environment? Better question is, who or what is the survivor!?
Welcome back Mad Head Games!! Thanks for returning to your Shadowplay roots, with another amazing game that tops the creep charts. At one point in the game, I actually jumped because I was startled by an action in this game. This has NEVER happened to me before EVER! I will even go as far as to say that this game has by far, the best cliffhanger demo ending, an ending that leaves you hanging, an ending that entices you to click the "buy now" icon as fast as you can.

The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, but nothing special, nothing new is offered, then again, I'm rarely impressed by HOP's anymore, because the objects seem to be less and less hidden as time goes by. There is a Morphing Object within the main HOP's in the Collector's Edition version, a feature that would make me jump for joy, IF they were offered in each location scene of the main game, NOT within just the HOP's Some of the HOP's require you to locate 4 items that will then open up an Interactive List find, and some where the items found move aside to expose a puzzle fragment, as well as Silhouetted Shape finds, or combinations of both types of HOP's. There are several Zoom Zone HOP's that have just a handful of Silhouetted Shape finds, but at least in the demo, there are no alternate puzzles offered to play instead of the HOP's. There are also Keywords in Sentence finds, but they are categorized as Mini Games not HOP's.
The Mini Games are actually entertaining, and for the most part, are fairly easy to solve on the first attempt. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Select a button to move the dial either 3 spaces clockwise or 2 spaces counterclockwise, to land on each symbol shown on the clue.
2) Select arrows to move the spheres into their matching colored disks.
3) Repeat the sequence of images lighting in the order shown.
4) Select a series of numbers that equal the sum shown, by clicking highlighted available numbers, and ending with the highlighted red button on the bottom right corner.
5) Swap fragments to fit correctly into their matching patterned slots.
6) Select matching pairs of symbols (MH does love their symbols)
7) There are several story based puzzles that require you to find items that match the keywords shown in each paragraph of the story.
The Collectors Edition version has 4 Wallpapers and Concept Art pictures, 6 Music Soundtracks, an Ultimate Puzzle, replayable Hidden Object Scenes, a Showcase Room, 10 Achievements to earn, 32 collectible Spirals to find, 18 Morphing Objects within the Hidden Object Scenes, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy your stay on Fantasy/Forsaken Island!

The graphics weren't exceptional at all, but they were crisp and clean. I guess one would call them cookie cutter, but they were realistic. Music was not intrusive and the effects went along with the action in the scene. The voice overs were very well done. Perhaps a bit over acted, but hey, it's a game.
The challenge was right down my alley. The hidden objects were really fun to do and varied. Some were extremely simple while others took some concentration just to figure out what to do. The mini games must have been rather easy. I was able to do most all of them, which is a big change for me. The map was my friend. There is some back and forth and the map showed me where there was something to do and would transport me.
Others will go into depth about the story so I'll not bore you with the details. I liked the story. Wasn't sure I would, because I was expecting ghosts and goblins, but while on the supernatural genre, it wasn't the horrible things we've been seeing. I was into the story from the very beginning and even though I had it figured out about half way through, I couldn't wait to see the bad dudes get theirs. This is one game that should have allowed you to pick either male or female. This to me was more of a male part, but the designers chose a lady, so I got my high heels on and played away.
Give the demo a shot and see if you don't like this one too. Show less

In this new game for the Shadowplay series, your beloved brother, Mark, was on a research team working on a secluded island when a disaster occurred and it was thought that all the researchers were killed.
Now, years later, an emergency beacon has been activated on the site, indicating someone has survived. Your team will be dropped on the island to search for the survivor(s). Naturally all is not as it should be and you will have a hard way to go if you are to come out alive!
Good stuff: Great artwork, a variety of HOPs with a morphing object in each one, mini-games and puzzles, and an interesting story.
Bad stuff: The logic fails are not as egregious as in some of their recent games and you can try to play past them.
Example: the game starts with you up in a plane/helicopter with members of your team. You are moment from parachuting to the site. Lucky you! Someone has taken your backpack buckle apart and left you a puzzle to get out of the vehicle.
(How far am I supposed to trust my team?)
Mostly this game is notable as being better than other current offerings from Mad Head. And somehow the price of the SE seems more reasonable than that of the CE.
Please try the demo and decide for yourself.
